“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

Last Thursday a letter from Prentice-Hall, suggesting that the Dream Manuscript be converted, sort of, into a book dealing with The Seth Material. Editor expressing really terrific interest in The Material. Just what we wanted; the enthusiastic interest really made me feel great. I was sort of appalled at the lost work in the Dream manuscript but realized Rob has been right along; and the editor was right. The Seth Material is my unique source and a literally fabulous one; that I really did not truly appreciate and to which I was not really directed. It is as if clouds of the worst sort have rolled away. In a session that night, Seth emphasized the new direction I should follow.

Then, re-reading some material I was struck by the massive intellect behind it, the real beauty of the material, and sad that I did not really let myself realize it before; indeed that I had allowed myself to be affected by the lesser writings of others; even to the extent that in some late sessions it affected the material. Told my class last night the whole bit, and said that from now on classes were to be focused about the material; we were going to study it from scratch; this was my life work, my direction, what I was meant to do. Realized yesterday also, going over old notes, that my original ‘cosmic consciousness’ (borrowed phrases again) experience was with The Physical Universe as Idea Construction which turned into and developed into the sessions and Seth Material; the natural, intuitive, and logical development; which to a large extent I relegated to the background and sometimes even distrusted. (Largely because I feared setting myself up as some sort of a ‘false prophet’ or something; or distrusted myself, rather than it, actually.)

Believe this all has to do with the above, plus with a strange session held the night before last, in which through me the voice said it was sort of ‘beyond Seth’; the message coming from a higher portion of that personality; tremendous energy seemed to flow through me and the definite, thank God, certainty, that this came from beyond me, and was automatically translated into words at my end. Subjectively I feel this was as significant a development—almost—as the original Seth session. The sense of contact most … undeniably there. The feeling I really was in contact with some… all encompassing reality.

In the electrical field it is the intensity of any given actuality that determines this sort of duration, and the intensity can project such an actuality into many dimensions at once. [...] Within the electrical system, intensity is also responsible for the potentiality, duration and electrical mass, which is a mass of a different sort; a mass that takes up no space, and is not made of matter as you know it, but mass whose thickness is one of varying electrical intensities which form a definite shape, a separate field more or less, an electrical coded counterpart for physical matter.

This sort of growth allows also for the development of inner discipline, that will grow simultaneously with inner spontaneity; and a screening process of sorts develops that is indeed beneficial for your own protection. [...]

[...] Now indeed this electrical field in which thoughts and emotions and dreams have an independent actuality, this field contains depths and dimensions of a sort most difficult to explain.

(Besides I don’t want people coming here looking for that sort of thing certainly. Now I’m sort of sorry that people will know about the Seth sessions; know what we’re doing twice a week; and of course this is partially my fault. [...]

[...] I say that I don’t want people to “expect that sort of thing when they come here” and when I think about it I do consider it as somehow unpleasant or exhibitionistic. [...] But then, when I think of it, I’m afraid to let go for fear of being wrong; or of making some sort of display with no legitimate information being given. [...]

[...] Certainly if the Seth sessions had involved this sort of thing—particularly in the beginning—I am pretty sure we wouldn’t have continued them. [...]

(I suppose that one can find all sorts of variations within counterpart situations, all sorts of reasons for such affiliations, so I can merely hint at a few here as they rise out of the class framework or orbit around it:

[...] Still, it’s worth noting that being in the presence of a relative stranger who may also be one’s counterpart does make some sort of interior difference in response or attention. I wondered about the countless times counterparts had unwittingly gathered on similar occasions, and what sort of numberless exchanges had taken place on unconscious levels between those who were psychically related in some fashion.

[...] These powers to project realities of this sort, or pseudorealities of this sort, are meant to be suspended for all intents and purposes during the earth plane. [...]

Many intuitions, hunches, and inner disturbances of this sort can be explained in like manner. [...]

[...] You had visited your father in his shop of machines of some sort. [...]

[...] It is like putting one sort of diving equipment on, removing it for another, and then redonning the first. [...] They may also serve as a sort of vehicle, in the manner of the diving equipment.

[...] This sort of dissociated state can be dangerous, particularly induced haphazardly as was certainly the case with you. [...]

[...] Surely after our pleasant chat the other evening you should know nothing of this sort would offend me, and I would much prefer more broken-up sessions, if they are necessary, than sessions in which I see myself as a torture master.

[...] The other twin was more given to a statesmanlike sort of thing... [...] You sort of resented the fact that this twin brother of yours had this organization in which he found support and in which he felt so a part because he was absolutely certain of the aims and goals of the organization and he was a good soldier within it... The appearance of confidence, the engaging social self, is indeed a cover-up, adopted to give him time to acclimate to new circumstances of this sort. [...]

[...] This sort of relationship with someone you both find congenial is a psychic breath of fresh air, in that it provides outlets and psychic interchanges that are extremely important.

This sort of experience is much more practical when used before you are really driven to it, and you are not at that point by any means. [...]

You had a brief life as twins—some definite clear-cut divisions within yourself, have to do with this life when you were one of two—one going one way, and one going the other—one twin had a strong leaning toward military things—a soldier—the organization of the church now serves the same purpose, I believe—security within the organization—the twin who was in the military found his sense of identity as a soldier within the system, but he had great faith in the system—in what he was doing—the other twin was more given to a statesman-like sort of thing—and was in fact an orator, although he had another profession—it included oration to people—the two of you had a very strong telepathic relationship—and this time the church has provided the same kind of organization—you sort of resented the fact that this twin brother of yours had this organization in which he found support and in which he felt so a part because he was absolutely certain of the aims and goals of the organization and he was a good soldier within it—and at that time you envied him that security and that sense of identity within the system in which he believed. I have said that the electrical universe is, again, a materialization of a sort of inner vitality, of which everything is composed. [...]

[...] You will recall that I spoke of distances in terms of action, and that these distances occurred not in a perceivable framework of the sort with which you are familiar, but that I spoke of distance that had its reality in terms of the varying intensities within any given electrical actuality.

[...] You experience it directly, and so do you experience directly this sort of distance of which I speak.

[...] The same sort of activity last summer could have broken Ruburt’s pattern sufficiently enough to prevent the severity of the past difficulties. [...] While we are here, let me add that some sort of away-environment should be kept up as long as weather permits. [...]

A disturbance of sorts occurred today. [...] I believe that his office is going to be changed or redecorated or perhaps repainted; some change of this sort in the near future, if it has not already been done. But this is a rearrangement of some sort, that could involve furniture arrangement.

Any experience at all, whether mental or physical, also carries an electric and magnetic reality, so that the experience of any given individual is held in a sort of electric code within the cells. [...]

The building (eyes open) has a resemblance to an English-type mansion, or large building of this sort, set in fine grounds. [...] Perhaps on some sort of tour.

This is indeed an example of an endeavor of the sort that is too often carried on, with energy expended in a search for a reality that is known by any nincompoop to exist.

I have said often that any action changes that which acts, and that which is acted upon; and so in the sort of experiments that are now being carried on to study dreams. [...]

I believe that he has left some people, and is alone in what would appear to be some sort of alleyway, perhaps between high buildings, fairly dark with lights nearby.

This highly intricate web or field obviously reaches out from you as a self to all the persons you perceive, and you also participate in the same sort of web, projecting outward from the other individuals. [...]

[...] “I sort of had images while that was going on,” she said, “but I couldn’t tell you what they were.” [...]

[...] She left the studio when I asked her to, but I now thought she had been alerted to something unusual, and might be anticipating a test of some sort. [...]

(I was puzzled as to why Seth, or Jane, was so definite about the envelope containing a license or some sort of similar document, when Jane revealed that at last break she had thought the envelopes did contain a license. [...]

[...] This sort of practice will be most beneficial, and though he may not think so consciously it will build his confidence.

[...] Jane was sort of blue as she lay on her left side. [...]

[...] “I do sort of feel Seth around,” Jane said a little later. [...]

[...] Sand dunes of a sort. [...]

[...] Some sort of a bay effect, to the left. [...]
