[...] The more energy that is used on Ruburt’s part in exciting creative ways, the more is available, you see, for therapeutic purposes. [...]

(Long pause.) Now: the substance (DMSO), used as you are using it, will not do Ruburt any harm, and can be of great value, as it introduces more equitable bodily motions and sensations that now, with Ruburt’s greater understanding, he can accept, appreciate, and put to fullest benefit. [...]

Now: Ruburt’s paper was well done, and is important to an understanding of what has been happening in his own life, as well as indicating the larger social framework. [...]

[...] (Pause.) Although Ruburt did not mention this in his paper, reincarnation does have a part to play, for child’s curiosity must somehow be fitted into a new social structure, generally speaking, from other reincarnational ones. [...]

(8:57.) In Ruburt’s case, the Sinful Self was the remnant, psychologically speaking, and the same applies to many within your society. [...]

Both you and Ruburt, in your dream states, have already to some degree become acquainted with what your work will be. Because of your love of images, and Ruburt’s love of words and rhythm, you will both still utilize these characteristics. [...]

[...] The periodic clearing away in which you and Ruburt both indulge is beneficial from several viewpoints.

[...] When Ruburt throws anything old out, he does so because he feels he can afford to. [...]

[...] You are too guarded when he asks for recommendations, and Ruburt’s impulse there has been correct. [...]

And you knew it is what you are, and what you will be; and as the other developments in the sessions also rose out of what you are and what Ruburt is, so did this one. [...]

There is also a connection between the death of Ruburt’s father, your fine physicist’s father’s death, and the introduction of the Sumari name to the class in general.

[...] She called Ruburt, nearly in a frenzy — desperate, she said, for help. Since she has written Ruburt several times, he was aware of the situation. [...]

[...] Ruburt also pointed this out. Dineen asked for advice from me and again Ruburt said, quite correctly, “You must learn to stop depending upon others, to use your own common sense. [...]

[...] Ruburt, mainly, worked out the problem psychologically, actually living in the house in the psychological field. Her—and I say her advisedly, since here Ruburt operated as a woman—her disappointment was instant but superficial.

[...] Our good Ruburt has amazed his new director by his sudden bubbling good spirits, and bewildering exuberance.

We will take the personality of your director, Ruburt, if we may. [...]

The situation for Ruburt is the same as given in my last session for him (on June 24), which should be read again, this time more carefully.

To some extent Ruburt does still set up barriers, when for example Tam comes, but that in its way is all right—a part of his nature. [...]

[...] Ruburt wrote that one did not have to bargain with God for one’s life—an excellent point. [...] Still, Ruburt was uneasy that the woman would accept the situation so calmly. [...]

I would like to explain more clearly a few ideas that came to Ruburt concerning certain kinds of correspondents, and to explain more clearly some important issues regarding his own situation that also began to come into his mind. [...]

[...] (Long pause.) One woman wrote Ruburt about the definite healing of her mother from cancer. [...]

Following brief insights concerning these ideas, Ruburt found himself mentally making this kind of statement to himself (colon): I accept my natural agility wholeheartedly. [...]

Ruburt’s playing with the cat was of great benefit. [...] Driving downtown is stimulating to Ruburt, but he should not feel out of it at such times, or concentrate upon the comparison between his present and the desired state. [...]

Ruburt’s desire to walk properly and see normally is his own, yet it is also the desire of that greater nature from which his existence springs. [...]

In Framework 2 Ruburt’s normal walking is coming about in the same fashion, only you have far more clues to which still to some extent you close your eyes, as our hypothetical friends did when they lived on the same street without knowing it.

Ruburt almost every day speaks of a muscle releasing here or there, a new motion, however slight. [...]

—I want to simply put on record a few helpful remarks and comments I made to Ruburt last evening. (Seth calls Jane Ruburt, and me Joseph.)

[...] Ruburt’s skin is remarkably healthy, particularly given the situation. [...]

[...] There is no doubt that Ruburt was deeply shocked by some of the doctors’ pronouncements involving his walking—but already there are signs of loosening in the knees, and in the leg muscles as well. [...]

[...] You can certainly expect more improvements in Ruburt’s condition at all of its levels. [...]

Ruburt’s insights this afternoon were largely correct. [...]

I suggest therefore at this point, that you encourage Ruburt in spontaneous physical activity as divorced, say, from a discipline exercise. [...]

[...] Each time Ruburt finds himself making a movement that he thought he could not perform, then one of the blocking mental images loses strength.

[...] The session itself, with these suggestions, automatically will set Ruburt’s imagination going along these lines, you see, and the idea of freedom is generated both mentally and physically.

[...] It is a multidimensional version of what Ruburt does in simple terms when he writes a book of his own.³

I’ve also helped in the construction, so to speak, of Ruburt’s [psychic] library,⁴ and I hope that he will be able to meet me there, in surroundings in which he feels confident and at home, and yet on neutral ground. [...]

[...] My reality is far more apparent than any apparition’s. Ruburt does well because he explores so cleverly, and keeps his strands of reality in good order.⁶

(Long pause at 10:01.) Others have indeed sensed me — Sue [Watkins]⁷ for example — but the relationship there is far different, and it is important for Ruburt that he have clear-cut areas, which I respect.

The same sort of thing appears when Ruburt gives himself poor suggestions. [...]

Ruburt’s trunk has been in a constant state of change. [...]

[...] Now were I a kind and well-known beloved uncle who has passed over, you could perchance see me, but for now you must be content with the little of me that I am able to portray through Ruburt’s personality. There should be occasions when Ruburt’s features will change to some considerable extent when I speak to you, but you will have to be content for now with that part of me you can sense. [...]

[...] I know this and it does not bother me so I don’t see why it should bother our friend (Ruburt) here. [...]

[...] Ruburt would indeed push you and shove you. [...]

[...] The flame was moved, if my friend Ruburt will forgive me, by a friendly spirit who was within call. [...]

As they sit thus comfortably ensconced (leaning forward with a smile), they observe dramas in which planets explode, and otherworld intelligences rise to challenge or to help the dauntless captain of the good ship Enterprise and the fearless “Spock” — but none of this threatens our friends, Ruburt and Joseph. Ruburt’s own late insights are correct. [...]

In Dreams (recently) Ruburt tried to assess his psychic experiences, and could not do it. [...]

Your loving encouragement will help Ruburt change his own beliefs, for you can (underline three times) help him trust his physical body. [...]

Ruburt is doing more physically, and so now and then he comes up against his conflicts with time, of course, but with your help he is handling that well. [...]
