[...] I realize, again, that that is asking a bit much of you—yet if you continue even as you are there can and should be some very definite and tangible “proof.”

The release of a muscle in the neck, the release of these muscles above Ruburt’s eyes (gesturing)—those are also observable “proof”—but only if you accept them as such.

The personality characteristics therefore will in themselves be adequate proof to all but nincompoops, that a fully independent and highly articulate personality is behind it. [...]

(In this noon’s mail Jane received from her editor, Tam Mossman, an early printer’s proof of the book jacket for The Afterdeath Journal of an American Philosopher: The World View of William James. [...] However, this proof doesn’t contain the copy that Tam will prepare for the inside flaps and the back of the jacket.¹)

[...] On the 19th we received from our publisher for checking the proofs of the index for Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality, then two days later the proofs for the front matter of Psyche arrived. [...]

[...] He would have discovered much more had he been able to trust his intuitions even more, and able to leave more of the so-called scientific proof of his theories to lesser men, to give himself more inner freedom.

[...] And the truly hilarious part of this is that such seemingly subjective data will enable you to cut through objective, or so-called objective, reality in a way that will give you so-called proofs, that you can achieve in no other fashion.

I can and will give you further proofs, not only of my identity but of your own. [...]

Proofs will be given that cannot be denied. [...]

[...] Ruburt has felt soreness, and then felt it drain away, almost as a physical proof of inner soreness disappearing. [...]

[...] On Friday, April 6, we received from the production department at Prentice-Hall the printer’s page proofs of the index for Seth’s Psyche, and on Saturday morning the proofs for Emir arrived from Eleanor Friede at Delacorte Press. [...]

[...] I hardly thought it a coincidence that my side began bothering me—as it had years ago—just when we’d finished our work on the page proofs for Volume 2 of “Unknown” and Psyche, and I was free of that work load for the first time in a long while. [...]

[...] Without check, it begins to gain its own momentum, so that you become less and less aware of what is right, and more and more begin to focus looking for proof of your conviction.

[...] The body’s very existence is proof of its own healing abilities. [...]

(It wasn’t until I was checking the page [or printer’s] proofs for Volume 1 last week that I realized Seth hadn’t followed through on his promise. [...]

(We gave up our regularly scheduled sessions last week, and spent a great deal of time correcting the proofs for Volume 1 of “Unknown.”³ In fact, I didn’t finish my part of the job until midnight Sunday; then early this morning I mailed the whole thing to Tam Mossman, Jane’s editor at Prentice-Hall. [...] Checking the page proofs is the last stage we go through before publication, and Volume 1 is due to be marketed this summer — probably in July.

[...] But right now, here’s a chronological list of our activities from June 17, 1974, when Seth finished his share of the work on Volume I of “Unknown Reality” to April 18, 1977 (today) when I mailed the corrected page proofs for that volume to Jane’s publisher.

The fact of this book is proof that the ego does not have the whole kettle of personality to itself, for there is no doubt that it is being produced by some other personality than that of the writer known as Jane Roberts. [...]

I think the beliefs the three of us hold are very creative ones; we accept them on that basis; they are as good “proofs” as we can currently get, and offer their own answers by sparking us into new ways of trying to make sense out of our reality. [...] Jane and I aren’t so naive as to think that we can offer any hard proofs for what we believe, and certainly Seth doesn’t worry about it. Not even when I play around with his ideas relative to quantum theory can such proof be found—yet I let Jane’s “amazingly strong” will be the measuring and observing device that automatically causes “waves” of knowing or consciousness—in Framework 2, for example—to coalesce into the “particles” that make up the physical forms she perceives as her reality in Framework 1, either psychically from a distance or right here.

[...] To my surprise I discovered that as I massaged those tendons underneath the knee, her foot began to move back and forth an inch — something she hasn’t been able to do for months, at least, and proof that the left knee joint wasn’t frozen. [...]

The same applies if a friend becomes ill—the beliefs behind it say that you are vulnerable creatures, the victims of bodily distress that operates regardless of your wishes, and each instance of another’s illness can then be seen as proof of one’s own vulnerability. [...]

Any normal process or feeling of the body can then be magnified or dwelled upon until it seems to provide only further proof of the same fears—which are then projected into the future. [...]

[...] This alone should be proof that the condition is not a prerequisite for the species as such. [...]

[...] He will ridicule any such evidence of so-called ESP on the native’s part as further proof of the African’s childlike mind.

[...] And the inner data and the inner self which you deny is a lot more permanent, my dear Joseph, and I am speaking to you as proof.

If he journeyed through his memories trying to find a different kind of proof instead, then in that same past he would discover instances when he did relate well with others. [...]
