Such dreams do not basically imply a return to a distant past, for to the cells all things are present. (Long pause.) This reality is a basic part of your present existence, and simply represents a dimension of actuality that the ego cannot, by its nature, admit.

Now, the future is also present in cellular consciousness. [...] Because of the spacious present however, cellular consciousness also contains blueprints of the future.

In your dreams, in other words, you are familiar with images like the mammals and reptiles, that would seem not to belong to the present. [...]

Using an analogy again, the brain is quite capable of operating on innumerable “frequencies,” each presenting its own picture of reality to the individual, each playing upon the physical senses in a certain manner, organizing available data in its own specialized way, and each dealing somewhat differently with the body itself and with the contents of the mind.

When the pulsation is weak you call it past, when it is strongest you name it present, and the one that seems to you not yet as strong as present, you name future. [...]

If the impetus on your parts is not that strong, or if fear operates, if Ruburt is afraid for example, of being put to a “test”, in quotes, then of course the proper stimulus is not present. [...]

[...] As the personality on your plane actually changes, expands and grows to its potentialities, as it presents at various times varied images to the world (such as — if you’ll forgive me for using cliches — a smiling face, a sorrowful face), but is still basically the same personality, so on another level does the entity present at various times a varied appearance and speak in a different voice. [...] But these dream images work for the entity as a whole and serve as a means for the various personalities to communicate; that is, in many cases, the previous personalities communicate with the present one. Again past, present and future are definite realities only to the ego. [...] When I say that the dreaming self has memory, therefore, of its dream experiences, I mean that it scans its present existence. [...]

To the dreaming self however, past, present and future as such do not exist, and yet it has what you term memory. [...]

(Seth began to talk about the simultaneity of basic reality in the 41st session, which dealt with the spacious present. [...]

[...] A connection with three people, and a fourth who is not present. [...]

[...] In that regard, Ruburt’s response before such a session is natural, and to an extent magical, because he knows that no matter what he has been taught, he must to some degree (underlined) forget the questions and the mood that accompanies them with one level of his consciousness, in order to create the proper kind of atmosphere at another level of consciousness — an atmosphere that allows the answers to come even though they may be presented in a different way than that expected by the rational mind.

[...] As far as Ruburt’s present situation, he should not wear, say, one pair of jeans for a week, but instead alternate, with two or three pairs that can be worn of course many times.

Then he contrasted his present position against the idealized desired one, all of which served to lower his mood, and intensify his susceptibility to the heat, chair pressure, and so forth.

The rational mind alone, as it is presently used (because it is a rather artificial construct, a function given prominence), can never understand the dream measurements that you undertook in order to come up with the Brenner dream.⁵
