(When I joined her for the session I found her sitting on the couch with her eyes drooping, half-closed in relaxation. [...] She didn’t have any questions in particular, though, even considering her upset over the session material. We’d also reread a group of sessions last night instead of having a session, but I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity for a session tonight, since it was getting later in the week.
(Jane had a pretty good day today—until we read over some of the late sessions this afternoon, those having to do with her relationship with her mother. [...]
[...] When I repeated the suggestion now she said it regenerated those feelings of panic and/or unease, “but we haven’t time to go into them now, with the session due and all.” [...]
That is enough for this evening, since you read sessions today also. [...]
The Seth sessions and Seth’s books are inevitably connected to my relationship with Rob, of course. [...] Rob’s remarkable mind with its questions and probing nature has always stimulated me to do my best, and has served as a kind of invisible but sturdy psychological screen, helping me view myself and the sessions as clearly as possible. If it hadn’t been for his encouragement and active participation, I doubt that the Seth sessions would exist in their present form.
As far as my relationship with Seth and his with me, because of our long-standing association I think we must have formed a unique psychological alliance; somehow I am part Seth, and in sessions at least, Seth must be part Jane, in a kind of psychological bonding on both sides. Seth must use my voice to speak and my life as reference, and certainly the contents of my mind are vastly expanded as a result of the sessions. [...]
[...] When I held ESP classes, Seth’s sessions were always taped, and just this week he “came through” as I was being recorded for a radio program to be aired later. [...]
[...] Many spectacular national events have happened, of course, since our first sessions took place late in 1963, but Seth seldom mentioned such issues, and then only in answer to our own questions. [...]
(By 8:45 Jane had the jitters as usual before a scheduled session. [...] not nervous, since the session was unscheduled.
(We had been speculating about spending our immediately-past lives in Boston, since Seth had hinted at this in the last session. We opened the session by sitting silently at the board, but Jane began to receive Seth even as the pointer spelled out his greeting. [...]
[...] I suggest a brief break, and may I say that I am unusually pleased with tonight’s session, and with Ruburt’s performance, since this material is coming to you without any distortion whatsoever, as far as I can tell. This is indeed our best session to date.
(Through this session her voice had been normal. [...] She maintained it until the close of the session, along with her fast pacing. [...]
(Jane and I anticipated no difficulty in holding the session tonight instead of last night. [...] Her glasses were off and her eyes remained closed while she delivered material throughout the session.)
[...] This has been a most fruitful session, in terms of significant material. I will not keep you now, but do intend that we hold our regular session tomorrow evening, as planned.
(Due to the work involved in hanging my first one-man show of paintings, at Harris Hill Inn, last night’s regularly scheduled session was not held.
(In addition Jane and I visited Jim and Marian Spaziani, our landlord and his wife, to make arrangements for them to attend the session for next Monday, February 8. The Spazianis will also bring a mutual friend.
(In the last deleted session Seth had promised us some data on early man, but I told Jane to forget that for now. She replied that she’d see how she felt as the session progressed.)
(Once again Jane was so relaxed that I suggested she forget the session. [...]
Take your break, or end the session.
(Before the session this evening I spent some time blowing off steam about a variety of large issues that we see reflected in our daily news media—such things as corruption, pollution, inflation, the destiny of the race if it persists in its present ways, etc. [...] A rather innocent remark made by Jane shortly before 9 PM got me started, hence the session’s late beginning.
Now in the second half of our next session I will go into the other material that our good friend requests. You may take a break or end the session now, as you prefer.
(This afternoon Jane’s editor at Prentice-Hall, Tam Mossman, called her re the Seth book Jane is completing for P/H. Tam also had a couple of questions, which Seth begins to answer in this session.
Now I am telling you this evening not only because of your own earlier discussion, but also because this material will fit in with other sessions that I have in mind. [...]
(We were ready for the session early this evening, for a change. [...] Seth did analyze the dream at the end of the session, so that material is deleted from the dictation on his book.
[...] She remembered how, in early sessions, Seth had talked about a minimum of three reincarnational existences for most entities — and how “scandalized” she’d been later when she began to realize that Seth had lived many lives. [...] When the sessions began, Jane was especially bothered by what she called the trite and popular ideas about reincarnation, mixed up as they were with ideas of good and evil, punishment, etc.
(“I go along wholeheartedly with Seth’s statement that reincarnation is as much a myth as a fact,” she said now, referring to an ESP class session. In that session, for May 4, 1971, Seth said in part: “So what you understand of reincarnation, and of the time terms involved, is a very simplified tale indeed…. [...]
[...] I can tell you that our work and the stability of our sessions has been of great aid in keeping the symptoms under some control. Had this happened before our sessions the difficulty would literally have been most severe, with other bad physical symptoms.
Now occasionally the ego has risen up in our sessions, but to no alarming degree. On the few occasions when the symptoms were mentioned and a particular time given, this was a rather pathetic attempt on the part of the ego to make use of the sessions.
(No envelope session was held.
(The regular session scheduled for Wednesday, February 15, was not held.)
In Note 4 for Session 801, I quoted material Seth gave on inoculations in Session 703 for Volume 1 of “Unknown” Reality. Now let me cite some of his material from Session 704 in the same book. [...]
(The regularly scheduled session for last Wednesday evening was not held. As I wrote in Note 2 for the first session of Mass Events, which Seth-Jane gave a week ago, we’re having the front porch of our hill house rebuilt. [...]
[...] During our private and book sessions Seth’s voice effects are usually quite conversational in tone and emphasis, and he speaks slowly enough so that I can comfortably take notes. [...] Such manifestations are practically never carried that far in our regular sessions, however. [...]
[...] You may end the session or take a break as you prefer.
(Jane began the session after people had been in to check her vitals, which were all okay. [...]
Ruburt did make an attempt to rid himself of those feelings, however, by speaking of them to you, thus expressing them, and by reminding himself of our sessions and of his own physical improvements. [...]
By all means, continue to review our sessions, and you can expect further improvements on Ruburt’s part, as we continue with these practices. [...]
As always, the session continues at other levels of your beings, and I may or may not return, again according to those rhythms of which I have spoken. [...]
(My own position may be too simple, but I do not believe a body can be coaxed to good health by others, or sessions, or whatever. [...] Most of the private sessions we have in those 40 loose-leaf notebooks, about her symptoms, are the result of my pushing her for answers, not the other way around.
(The session reinforced much of what I wrote in my notes before it was held — that fear rules, and whether by choice or not, has for many years. [...] I found myself thinking as the session progressed that what’s needed is not the allaying of any current fears about going home, but the more basic ones that are “responsible” for the whole situation to begin with. [...]
(This is Jane’s first session in five days — her longest recent break.
(4:08 p.m. I read the session to Jane. [...]
(I began this short appendix a couple of weeks after the 732nd session was held, but didn’t finish certain parts of it until some time later. [...] We’ve been thinking about counterpart ideas since Seth introduced the concept two months ago; see the opening notes for the 721st session. Then, in the 726th session, Seth named Jane and me as counterparts of each other. [...]
(FOR SESSION 732)
[...] See the material on the double dreams of Sue Watkins, Lee R. Gandee, and myself in Session 692, with its Note 2, for Volume 1 of “Unknown” Reality.
2. See Note 8 for the 732nd session.
SESSION 868, JULY 25, 1979
9:15 P.M. WEDNESDAY
(As we prepared for the session I mentioned that I wouldn’t mind if Seth commented on a particularly vivid dream I’d had last night. [...]
[...] The same applies to medicine, of course, when in its worthy purpose to save life, its methods often lead to quite unworthy experimentation (see Note 3 for Session 850), so that life is destroyed for the sake of saving, say, a greater number of lives. [...]
[...] (Also see Session 863 at 9:21.) This propensity operates below and within the framework of matter. [...]
[...] Jane had no idea of most of the material in the session — that is, she hadn’t known Seth was going to deliver it. Now, however, she remembered that just before the session she’d picked up the idea that Seth would mention effortlessness in connection with her own situation.)
[...] Now she waited impatiently for Seth to come through: At first I’d thought she would pass up the session. [...]
[...] In midlife you were presented with our sessions — or [the two of] you presented yourselves with them, if you prefer. [...]
(The following material is, in part, an outgrowth of certain effects described in Personal Reality; see my notes for the 616th session, bridging chapters 2 and 3. That session was held on September 20, 1972, and the notes I’m referring to concern a new development in Jane’s abilities: her initial realization that on at least some occasions she would have more than one channel of information available from Seth. [...]
(Jane had some other insights into Seth’s multiple channels as she continued dictating Personal Reality after that session,1 yet we continued to think of the new development as one of mostly theoretical interest. [...] That episode had taken place just before she delivered the 686th session for this volume of “Unknown” Reality, and is described in Appendix 5.
