(Bill Macdonnel, who has witnessed several sessions, was at the door. He remained for the balance of the session. [...] When she resumed her voice was abruptly quite a bit deeper and stronger, and it remained so for the balance of the session. [...]
(The day after the last session Jane realized that she had burned herself on the back of her right leg, just above the heel. [...] She later realized she had done it during the last session.
(During sessions now, Jane sits in our rocker across from my writing table. [...] I would also remember had the session been interrupted by her. [...]
(Note also the variation in the opening of the session.)
3. Nor was I quick enough to ask Seth if the material Jane delivered for him tonight constituted any kind of contradiction with that of the 689th session; for in that session he discussed man-animal and animal-man as existing within the Tertiary Period. [...] Had Jane distorted information in one session or the other? [...] In tonight’s session had Jane tuned into data on a parallel (or probable) reality, for example? [...]
(Neither Jane nor I could remember what last Thursday’s session was about, and I had but one page of it typed from my notes — a situation quite similar to that prevailing before the last session. [...]
2. The time span Seth referred to here existed 30 million to 50 million years ago, he told us in the 689th session, and fell within the Tertiary Period. [...] I wasn’t quick enough to ask him; I didn’t remember the details in the 689th session well enough …
(I read her the material Seth had given so far this evening; at 10:30 she resumed the session as though there hadn’t been any interruption at all:)
(This is our first session since last Monday, December 7. It will be remembered that Seth gave us a brief rest, eliminating last Wednesday’s session.
(Jane had no idea of the material for the session as the time for it approached. [...] Her eyes were dark as usual, and she took her glasses off as the session began. [...]
[...] Neither Jane or I have had many experiences of this kind in recent sessions. See the 47th and 55th sessions [in Volume 2} for more pronounced effects of this kind, including measurements.
[...] Jane’s delivery had become very slow; as slow as the 110th session, which was as slow as any I recall. [...] It might be added that during the 110th session, Jane was aware that she was speaking at a slow rate.
(The session was held in our back room. [...] She smoked throughout the session, and her eyes were open most of the time; indeed they opened wide before she had spoken for more than a few minutes. [...]
[...] Therefore, being actions, they affect all other actions, and if I repeat this in session after session, I do so, so that it will never be forgotten. [...]
(The unscheduled session Seth referred to above is the one held on Friday, November 5, for our four young friends. [...] Consciously I had not wanted to have the session, since I thought our guests hadn’t had enough time to study related material.
(No envelope test was held during this session.
(One idea we think has promise is that witnesses attending the Wednesday sessions—we decided to keep Monday sessions private so that we could relax—first read the material in another room while the session itself is going on. Then when they have familiarized themselves with the material they can sit in on the sessions and understand what is going on. [...]
I see that we will have a quiet session this evening. [...] May I congratulate you, as well as myself, for our fiftieth session. [...] Two sessions a week is a very strict and heavy schedule, as you probably know for yourselves by now.
[...] We felt quite relaxed, although as session time approached Jane felt somewhat nervous. She began to dictate in a normal voice, pacing slowly, and maintained these patterns all through the session. [...]
(I made a list of these, added a quick sketch of the horses, and Jane’s Saratoga experience and ecstasy experience, pages 65 and 66; all with the idea of quizzing Seth about them at tonight’s session. [...]
(Because Monday’s session was so unusual, Jane felt a little hesitant about holding a session tonight. [...]
[...] The development in the last session was always latent from our first session.
[...] There are various mechanics that still must be worked out, that will develop naturally as the sessions continue. [...] Seth will always be an element in the sessions as you know him. [...]
[...] The energy pouring through her last session seemed to clear out her physical system; she felt a “mysterious muscular release.”
(In my notes preceding the 39th session for March 30, 1964, I described the first massive state Jane experienced after beginning the Seth sessions. [...]
(So Jane experienced a modest series of unusual psychic events before the sessions themselves began; some details on these have been given in earlier notes. Her first massive sensations in March [estimated], 1962, were followed by these phenomena in 1963: our York Beach experiences in August; her reception of Idea Construction in September; her massive feelings in October [estimated]; the outline she produced for ESP Power [or The Coming of Seth] as a result of the Idea Construction adventure; and the beginning of these sessions in November, through our trying certain experiments listed in that outline [as Jane explains in Chapter 1 of The Seth Material]. [...]
(FOR SESSION 681)
[...] One day in April, 1973, she had a fine series of encounters with massiveness, many of them embodying those extra qualities; see her own account of the whole adventure in the notes for the 653rd session in Chapter 13 of Personal Reality.
(The pendulum session was not a success, in my opinion. [...] She was upset of course, and so was I. I went to bed very unhappy with our situation—and I suppose that that feeling helped lead me to the group of statements below the next morning, and this session.
(5. The number of “crash” sessions held will depend on progress made, what help Seth can offer. [...] I don’t think of such sessions running indefinitely—perhaps three weeks or a month at the most.
(Jane has had several vivid dreams since we held the last session; they’ve been of the type described in recent private sessions—combinations of nightmarish events and characters, along with flashes of insight into the causes for the symptoms, and visions of herself walking normally, etc. [...]
[...] (Long pause.) Some is difficult to explain clearly, because Ruburt wanted to make sure of the validity of the sessions from the start, and because of other material given in the past, he did not fully accept the sessions or his own psychic abilities as an integral part of his personality—since they appeared relatively late in life, where the poetry, for example, had always more or less been apparent. [...]
[...] The record will show that this is the first personal session for us since December 14, 1970, and is only the second I have sat in on since that date. Jane has had ESP class sessions in the interim however, but our private activity had deteriorated to practically zero. I had demanded yesterday that we have this session.
All of the sessions Ruburt has on his clipboard are important, and discuss different aspects that are pertinent. Those sessions followed, and the advice heeded, provide you with your answer.
(Although we were both tired by the end of the session, I had the feeling that Jane, as Seth, was a bit reluctant to go too much into the affair with Prentice re The Seth Material, and ended the session rather abruptly at that point for that reason. [...]
(This is the regularly-scheduled session for Monday, January 18, 1971. [...]
(Seth began talking about pulsations in the very early sessions, the 12th among others. He added more material on such frequencies along with the data on the inner senses, by the 50th session; then elaborated further in the material on the electrical universe, given in the sessions from 122 on. [...]
(Before the unscheduled 230th session of last Sunday, Bill Gallagher had surprised Jane by telling her he thought she possessed healing ability. Seth discussed this ability in the 185th session, and he referred to it briefly in a few others.)
(The 32nd envelope experiment was held during the session. [...]
(For the record: In the 227th and 228th sessions Seth discussed the book of poetry Jane produced so quickly by using suggestions for abundant energy, and told us the book would be published. [...]
[...] I asked her if the new motions were a sign of the greater freedom of motion she would soon be showing, according to Seth in last night’s session [on the 28th], but she was noncommittal. [...]
(Once again Seth came through before I finished writing these notes, and once again Jane’s voice was strong, as it had been during the last session.)
Now: this will undoubtedly be a brief-enough session—but I wanted you to know that some important organizations of behavior that have bothered you both—particularly Ruburt—have lost their power. [...]
(Once again throughout the session Jane delivered the material while sitting down, and with her eyes closed. [...] She did not smoke during the session, and her glasses were off.)
[...] This is a habit we have cultivated somewhat since Bill introduced us to incense at the 86th session. We have not used it on session nights however, since.
[...] Recently Jane and I had been talking about putting the recorder in shape again so we could record some more sessions. The last session we recorded was the 70th, on July 13,1964, with John Bradley as a witness.
I am pleased, as always, to begin another session, and we will cover a variety of rather allied subjects this evening.
Now, underlined, I tell you that from our sessions changes will take place that will affect many. [...] The energy from our quiet sessions will however transform your lives, and through your works the lives of millions.
[...] It seemed they always could use a session, and I wondered if Jane had the energy for the extra demands; and to what use the class sessions would be put.
[...] When I finally realized the session was over I said good night to Seth. [...] She said she felt very heavy-eyed and sleepy, and once again wasn’t sure just how to go about getting out of the session.
[...] Ruburt just now wanted to tell you that he felt somewhat differently now immediately before sessions.
I have told you that some portion of our sessions involves projection. The degree varies from session to session. There will be a time when Ruburt will project out of his body during sessions and remember what transpires while I speak through his body. [...]
In all probability you will become aware of me first either in a dream projection or in a session. [...]
[...] I will want to elaborate on these points mentioned, perhaps in our next session.
[...] I’d say that her own awareness of multiple channels has grown out of her initial sensing of the channels available from Seth, as described in the 616th session in Chapter 2 of Personal Reality; and that her material on neurological speeds is related to the observations of Jane that were noted by Sue Watkins in Seth Speaks; see the 594th session in the Appendix of that book. I also think that a thorough search of earlier sessions would turn up many other clues, foreshadowing both eventualities.
(FOR SESSION 686)
(This appendix is an extension of the opening notes for the 686th session.
(9:10 P.M. Jane began her own dictation before tonight’s session by saying that as she’d typed her statements yesterday [for Appendix 4] she would “get glimpses” of some of the concepts Seth was going to talk about in “Unknown” Reality — yet they would immediately vanish from her consciousness, so that all she had left was the knowledge that she’d experienced the insight.
As you probably suspected, this session will be barely short enough to call a session. Ruburt’s condition is coming along well now, and this period of rest from sessions will do you no harm.
(Monday, May 11, 9:50 PM, after Monday’s brief session: I had brief glimpses of many things, including this symbol, drawn in wet dark sand at water’s edge. [...]
(This morning Jane’s neck was better; but since she was far from well we anticipated but another short session tonight, if we had one at all. [...]
Do not feel too badly that our sessions are so disrupted this week. [...]
(By coincidence this session fell due on the anniversary of our first session. We made contact with Frank Watts in that session. Seth did not announce his presence until the 4th session. [...]
Because both of you seem weary this evening, and since the material has come through that I wanted to deliver, we will have a short session. The regularity of the sessions is the important factor, and as you know their length will vary according to many circumstances. However, the sessions are coming along extremely well. [...]
[...] It is because I hope for many years of such sessions that I am not overly concerned with the length of any particular group of sessions.
(Jane had no idea of the material for the session tonight. [...]
(This material was given in two sessions of about 20 minutes each. We thought the session ended with the first 20-minute delivery, but after a break Jane returned as Seth for more material. The presence of witnesses encouraged her; strong voice effects began to show themselves, the best in many sessions and toward the end of the Pat’s delivery, Jane achieved a projection to the Boston classroom of Pat’s special class. In many ways Jane regards this session as one of the best ever. Toward the last part of the session her delivery was very strong and forceful; very fast and emphatic and impressive; her eyes were closed for the most part, and she was really out.
(A very successful session was held this evening for Claire Crittenden and Pat Norelli. The session was taped by Pat. She is a teacher in a Boston high school and has taken the tape to school; when she sends a transcript of the session it will be given below.
(Jane has her own notes on this session, and they may be included with these in these records. [...] She achieved a legitimate projection to the classroom in Boston, and Seth deals with this to some extent in the next session. [...]
(The first part of the session concerned data about a man Pat is interested in, Brian Houlihan, of Elmira. [...]
(It will be recalled that in the 185th session Seth gave me some tips on how to help my hay fever through suggestion upon retiring at night. [...]
[...] I suggested to her that she skip tonight’s session if she felt so nervous, but she decided to hold it regardless.
(I had prepared the usual double test envelope earlier in the day, but doubted it would be used if Jane was not in a good mood for the session. [...]
(The session was held in our small back room. [...]
