[...] It is closely allied with the entity, and connects a reality that is purely psychic, the reality of the entity, with a reality that is mainly physical, the reality of the physical self.

The entity has awareness of these ten portions of itself. Consciously however no one of the ten personalities is aware of the others, nor of the entity. [...]

[...] These reincarnations all represent portions of your entity, living or experiencing sensation at various times within a physical time system.

Actually, of course, each second of any creature’s life represents a creative act of the keenest sort, for it signals that physical entity’s decision to continue living in physical terms. [...]

In that sense Jane’s whole self or entity accepts her actions completely, as part of the learning processes available to “it” through her individuality—nor do I mean it does so in any passive or remote sense at all, but in the most intimate, sensitive terms possible, and also, probably, in ways we cannot appreciate now. I also believe that these kinds of challenges—involving decisions about whether to continue physical life—have always existed for every creature on earth (just as they have for the earth itself as a living entity). [...]

First, though, I’ll explain that in sessions Seth refers to Jane by her male entity name, Ruburt — and that he does so (as I quote him in Appendix 18) simply because “the given entity identifies itself more with the so-called male characteristics than with the female.” He also addresses me by my entity name, which is Joseph.

[...] She’s from out of town, and I hardly know her [she’s also so quiet]; but even so, I could see how it was possible that she could be embarked upon her own series of lifetime challenges while expressing certain qualities of the entity, or whole self from, which we both emerged. [...]

[...] In that psychological universe, then, it is possible for entities “to be everywhere at once,” aware of everything at once. Your world is composed of such “entities”—the units of consciousness that form your body. [...]

The entity, each entity, was formed in this manner, it in turn sending out its creations in terms of other personalities, and these personalities sending forth their own psychic as well as physical constructions. [...]

[...] Because of certain dreams I believe that even portions of my own entity (Seth calls me Joseph) are joining in. [...]

[...] You have been connected with the same entity, though you have sprung apart from it, but the inner relationship adds to the power available. [...]

[...] Although they bear my name, before I was finished with them I’d had plenty of help from my wife, Jane Roberts, and from Seth, the nonphysical entity who speaks through her while she’s in trance. [...]

[...] According to Seth, the man we call Jesus Christ was actually composed of three individuals who were the physical manifestations of the same nonphysical entity: John the Baptist, St. Paul, and a man historically known as Christ. [...]

[...] The idea of selfish genes also implies plan on the part of such entities — and so comes dangerously close to contradicting several basic tenets of science itself: among them that life arose by chance, that it perpetuates itself through random mutations and the struggle for existence (or natural selection), and that basically life has no meaning.

So for simplicity’s sake I will have you imagine that the dream universe occupies a position on the other side of the physical universe, with the entity separated from the dream universe by the physical. [...]

Imagine the analogy psychologically again, using the physical universe as the ego, with the dream universe in one direction and the entity on the other.

[...] How can this be, she wondered: If a certain number of entities were responsible for the creation of our physical world, where do the extra human beings come from? I told her that, according to Seth, each personality making up an entity could manifest itself physically as often as it chose to. [...]

[...] Initially, before existence upon the physical plane this time, you could just as easily have focused upon a different quality-personality gestalt, although your choice most probably would be in line with a large field of possibilities, possible according to the desires of your entity.

[...] Here various problems set for the entity are worked out, problems that either are too minor to be handled by a primary self on your plane, or problems that for one reason or another could simply not be solved by physical constructions.

(Before the session Jane did not sense the pyramid or cone effect, as she usually does when Seth’s entity is to speak. [...]
