When you realize that you are much more than the egotistical “I am,” and that your true personality contains a much larger and really more powerful inner ego, then this relative inavailability of inner comprehension to the outer ego will not annoy you.

Now, you will see that the inner ego of which we have spoken many times is the projector of energy upon your plane. The inner ego, representing the basic personality, through diffusion makes a materialization of itself and enters your plane.

The inner ego therefore is your counterpart. [...]

[...] He is a particular personality formed purposely, and not in a random fashion, the inner ego creating a replica of itself to function within a definite, peculiar set of circumstances. [...]

This is not done at all times, but the ego is not usually aware either of the motion nor of the other systems involved. Through your own abilities, and partially through circumstances that happen to be favorable, you are able with my help, to some degree, to add this experience of mobility to your natures and transfer the knowledge to the conscious ego.

A personality in the primary gestalt is indeed focused upon your present plane of reality, but to suppose that the whole primary gestalt is so focused represents mankind’s ego playing with one of its most preposterous proposals.

As mentioned earlier (in the 610th session in Chapter One), what you call the ego is a portion of the inner identity that rises to face the world of physical existence. In the regular course of events it will change into another ego, but while losing its “dominant” status it will not die to itself. [...]

Under enforced annihilation, there is a frantic attempt at reorganization as the inner self tries to “send up” alternate egos to handle the situation — and in those terms, the more egos you kill the more will emerge.

[...] This does not include the crucifixion of the ego.

Now: In the normal cycle of the death and rebirth of cells, and the usual pattern in which the ego constantly changes, there is a smooth flow and no loss of orientation. [...]
