“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(The 220th session, containing Seth’s advice, was held while the car was in the garage the first time. [...] By then I had the idea that psychological attitudes could affect the car, and had recalled that once before Seth had dealt with the car and our attitudes while on our way to a Maine vacation in August 1964. [...] According to Seth, Jane and I had succeeded in altering considerably the car’s oil consumption; and as evidence we had before us the fact that the car had used much less oil on the trip than we had calculated. [...]

(Jane said that Seth’s reference to Lois put her back on the right track as far as subsequent data went. [...] Thus Seth and Jane worked very well together here. Also note another example of cooperation, wherein Jane contributed accurately with her connection to a disturbing event, and Seth said this was Jane’s idea.

[...] But she hadn’t particularly associated this with the reasons Seth ascribed to a need for mobility. [...] My idea was that Seth had mentioned these things briefly in much earlier sessions.

(Seth’s statements on page 207, to the effect that even incorrect test data is legitimate to important layers of the personality, is probably an important one in our opinion. [...] I do not recall Seth’s referring to this point so plainly before, although he may have. [...]

[...] At first the data meant little, but Seth’s answer to the second question furnished the key that made it intelligible to us. [...] This is a case where Seth used the object as a springboard to delve into data that is connected to it through location mainly. [...]

[...] In addition Seth dealt at length with Aunt Ella in the 176th session of August 9,1965, the day after her funeral. [...] Jane possessed strong emotional memories regarding the funeral, and clairvoyant knowledge of the envelope object in some form; evidently Seth responded to, or deliberately chose, what he perceived as the stronger intensities pertaining to Aunt Ella’s funeral over the object itself.

[...] Seth gave this answer to my request for the female child’s initials; Linda is thus eliminated definitely. More important, Jane said that when I asked questions concerning the child, she wanted to say Linda but that Seth wouldn’t let her. [...]

Seth tells us, of course, that prehuman communication and human language and speech have originated in rhythmic patterns again and again, since in the far past our planet has seen the development of a number of presently unknown civilizations. [...] I told Jane that Seth’s information was as penetrating as ever. [...]

(Seth’s remarks about inner sounds were quite interesting in view of an episode that had taken place 10 minutes or so before the session started. [...]

(Before the session tonight Jane wondered whether Seth could put her in touch with Blanche in some way, perhaps through a table. Jane also wanted some kind of definite sign from Seth as to his presence and identity, that would be convincing to her.

[...] Jane was aware of this while giving the data, but made no attempt to block Seth. [...]

[...] He reported that his wife seemed better, that he himself understood more now, and that he had some unasked questions for Seth.)

(Anyhow, she—or Seth—seldom comes through with that type material. [...] I didn’t think that was why Seth had mentioned anything about the Middle East today, though; I hadn’t mentioned the note to Jane, either. [...]

(“Good afternoon, Seth.”)

[...] As soon as Seth began talking about probabilities, I knew he was extending his material that he began in the session for December 21, in which he stated that unchosen probabilities may be quite changed by those chosen for activation. [...]

(Seth’s interesting remark that fictional characters may be manifested in some probabilities, may have been engendered by the In Search Of program we watched on TV from 2:30 to 3:00 this afternoon. [...]

[...] It grew out of Seth’s answers to a couple of questions I asked for Chapter 20 of Seth’s own book. They had to do with Seth speaking through Jane in her lifetime; with my help, etc.

He thinks basically that it is, and he accepts the basic principles of the work—that is, the Seth material. [...]

(“When The Seth Material was published and we went on tour: did this revive or intensify his fears about leading people astray?”)

(Jane has not yet resumed her study of psychological time, even though Seth said it was all right for her to begin again on a daily fifteen-minute basis. [...]

[...] We were both curious to see what Seth would say about basic causes, and as it developed we had some fairly good insights. [...]

(At 8:45 tonight Jane said that Seth was going to talk about the York Beach apparitions we created at that resort in the summer of 1963, while on vacation there, in Maine. Jane had been writing about the incident this afternoon and I had wondered aloud if Seth could give more data on this. [...]

(Jane began speaking in the usual Seth manner.)

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

[...] Already, she said, she knew what Seth was going to discuss after break. [...]

In a recent class session, Seth said: “If you would momentarily put aside the selves you take for granted, you could experience your own multidimensional reality. [...]

[...] To some small extent I have begun to explain this in the Seth Material. [...]

One student had a guest with her, Mary, who wrinkled up her forehead when Seth finished speaking. [...]

[...] Seth answered for me—his way. [...]

[...] Jane achieved these mostly on her own, and wondered whether the Seth personality would gradually fade away as “her own” abilities increased.)

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

[...] Seth gave us this prediction perhaps two years ago.) Unfortunate expectations and various projections operated here however, but the intuitive background was enough to wipe these out within an instant of your first meeting. [...]

(As Seth says, a remarkable and instant liking sprang up between F. Fell, Jane and me when we first met in his office. [...]

Chapter Twenty-two of Seth Speaks contains additional material on Seth Two. In the 589th session Seth tells us in part: “…there is the same kind of connection between that personality and myself as the one that exists between Ruburt and myself. But in your terms, Seth Two is far further divorced from my reality than I am from Ruburt’s. You can imagine Seth Two as a future portion of me if you prefer, and yet far more is involved.”

(“When I tune into Seth Two,² I become bigger — my perceptive abilities enlarge to take that experience in…. [...]

[...] That’s why Seth is right: An outside event is an inside one. [...]

[...] But I’ll have a cigarette and turn into Seth.” [...]

3. Nor was I quick enough to ask Seth if the material Jane delivered for him tonight constituted any kind of contradiction with that of the 689th session; for in that session he discussed man-animal and animal-man as existing within the Tertiary Period. Presumably these “mutated forms” had implied the beginnings of man, in ordinary terms, yet now Seth spoke of cave-dwelling humans as coexistent with large birds at an earlier time. [...]

[...] At 9:30 Jane said she was starting to get “bleed-throughs” about Seth’s material for tonight.)

(Seth indicated Jane’s bangs, which were close to hanging over her eyes. [...]

(My two questions for Seth concerned the small lumps on the underside of Jane’s left arm, including one on her elbow, and the bright redness of the palms of her hands that I noticed the other day. [...] I asked that Seth comment.

[...] She merely wanted Seth to discuss “the whole thing.”

(However, I do keep much of what Seth has said on such troubles in mind, even if it doesn’t show too well, often. [...]

(By the same token, I try to keep Seth’s material in mind concerning her own challenges and problems, and this has helped enormously. [...]

(I thought it a good idea that this be the end of the session, however, Seth came through again at 10:30 as the three of us sat talking about various things. A humorous repartee followed, with Seth answering our questions on a variety of subjects. [...] And Dr. Instream, who would say “There is no Seth,” has not much longer to live. [...]

(John corroborated much of what Seth had given, and added that he felt that only his own lack of specific knowledge prevented him from corroborating much more of the data. [...]

(The chess references by Seth were interesting. [...]

[...] Tonight she not only did feel like a session, but shortly before it told me that she believed the larger Seth personality, the Seth entity as we call it, would speak.

(It seemed this might complicate matters, so I expressed the preference that Seth speak instead. [...]

It follows then that I am aware of the other Seth personality, and he of me. [...]

(This is the type of data my question had intended Seth to give—information of a more general application to many. Seth has also given Sue and Carl some reincarnational personal data in an ESP-class session.)

(Sue Watkins told us that before Seth began answering my question, her unborn child had been very active—kicking, etc, within her. When Seth started to consider the question, the fetus became very quiet, Sue said, almost as though listening ...)

(Many people have written or called us to ask about Seth’s unpublished data on Christ, Biblical events and times, but practically all such material has either been published verbatim or referred to. See Chapter Eighteen of The Seth Material besides Seth Speaks and this book.

As I mentioned in Seth Speaks, the Christ entity was too great to be contained in any one man, or for that matter in any one time, so the man you think of as Christ was not crucified (See chapters Twenty-one and Twenty-two of Seth Speaks.)

(In a private session on September 3, Seth discussed some of the reasons behind Jerusalem’s unceasing fascination for certain segments of mankind. [...] Then in the next session — which concerned other subjects — Seth unexpectedly added this aside: “You can have more material on Jerusalem or Christ now, or when you want it. [...]

(This evening’s session will see the first of three scheduled attempts for Seth to clairvoyantly tune in on our friends, Bill and Peggy Gallagher, who arrived in Puerto Rico on vacation yesterday, Sunday. We hope that at 9:30 this evening, on Wednesday October 20, and Monday October 25, Seth will be able to pick up something of the activities and/or surroundings of Bill and Peg. [...]

[...] I remarked that it was going to be a busy session, what with the material on the Gallaghers and Dr. Instream, a possible envelope test, and the chance that Seth might discuss two very long, vivid, and complicated dreams Jane had while taking a short nap last Friday morning. [...] She believes that at least one of these dreams is a therapeutic dream, resulting from suggestions she gave herself following Seth’s material on therapeutic dreams in the last session.

(In the 198th session of last Wednesday, October 13, Seth stated that financial matters and our kitchen problem would be settled by Saturday, October 16. [...]

(It will be recalled that in the 166th session, of June 30,1965, Seth told the witness, John Bradley, that “there is one other company in particular with which you could become involved to your advantage. [...]

Here Seth turns to me and to some others who now appear in the room. Neither Jane or Rob see Seth or the others, although Seth is gesturing and his voice is audible, at least to me.

[...] Seth is still discussing probabilities in his own book, so we don’t have all the answers, by any means. One night, Rob asked Seth how our own egos had changed as a result of our sessions, however, and Seth used the question as an opportunity to give us more information about personality and probable selves.

‘The last books are on the Seth Material,’ I continue, watching them. ‘Do you know about Seth yet?’

[...] Seth answered several in a class session held several days after Sue’s last dream. Speaking to her directly, Seth first mentioned the headache that had been plaguing her all day:

[...] Rob made a note of the dream and planned to ask Seth about it in our next session. As it happened, Seth interpreted the dream at once, without waiting to be asked. [...] Seth said,

[...] It was on normal typing paper and requested, first, some further work on the book — either an outline of a projected book to include portions of the dream manuscript, but stressing Seth, or some sample chapters — before a contract would be signed. One sentence read, “Or better, send on some notes from the original Seth material, and maybe we can consider that as advance work for a contract.”

On May 5, I received a letter asking for a prospectus stating Seth’s views on various topics and strongly suggesting that this would be considered a basis for contract. From the letter I took it for granted that I’d have to go through the forty or so notebooks of Seth Material that we had then, and find sections dealing with various topics. [...]

In the end, I combined portions of the dream book manuscript into a new book called The Seth Material, which was published by Prentice-Hall in September, 1970. [...] Seth’s interpretation of that first dream, some three years ago, had been correct. [...]
