“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Seth reassured Marian about the dream involving her dead mother, explaining how it was a case of Marian projecting her own subconscious fears, among other things. Marian’s concern over her approaching operation entered in here, and Seth used this concern to make his main points of the evening. Marian loves children deeply. Seth explained that the ovarian tumor represented her subconscious attempt to grow something, since she has now almost gone through menopause and cannot grow children. Seth stressed that if Marian could learn to channel her energies outward, perhaps in helping underprivileged children, the subconscious need to be wanted would be satisfied and the tumor would shrink by itself.

(Should she not be able to master the use of suggestion and positive religious faith quickly enough, Seth reassured Marian that the operation would then take care of the tumor, and that Marian had no worries here. Seth also included suggestions for Marian regarding therapeutic dreams; at breaks Jane and I explained what we could, but left feeling there was much we didn’t have time to include. The last part of the session involved reincarnational data. According to Seth two of the Spaziani children are psychically older than their parents. There has been much complicated switching of roles and sex among the family members. Marian herself has been twice a male and twice a female. The last time she was a female she was childless; Seth stressed quite often that this subconscious memory had much to do with her strong desire for children in this life.)

(Marian and Jimmy have known about the sessions since they began; indeed it was with their Ouija board that we began to experiment. They have read some of the early material but never attended a session. Marian said frankly that the idea made her “scary” so we did not insist, and rarely mentioned this material unless she brought up the subject herself. Seth has said both Marian and Jimmy possess strong undeveloped abilities.

(Seth said he did not know whether Marian could learn rapidly enough how to do this; but if she could get herself on the right track soon, he said, she would not need the operation in June; a medical examination then would show that the tumor was shrinking, and would continue to shrink. Since Marian is a deeply religious person also, Seth tied his ideas on positive thinking and suggestion in with the religious theme, stressing the positive use of faith. He went to considerable length in all of this, repeating himself often in an effort to teach Marian as much as possible.

(Jimmy of course related to Marian his thoughts about seeing his father’s apparition. Doing a little figuring concerning the time, he arrived at the conclusion that Marian had had her experience at approximately the same time he had been standing in back of his mother’s house, thinking about his father. Jimmy speculated that perhaps Marian had received a message from his father, in answer to his wish, even though he, Jimmy, had seen or heard nothing.

[...] As Jimmy’s wife Marian said to us this evening at supper: “Well, there must be a few drops of my blood in J.J. somewhere...” [...] Marian is Irish and French.

[...] Then I thought it better to ask for a comment on the vivid experience Marian and Jimmy Spaziani had, concerning Jimmy’s deceased father, recently. [...] Marian had described the experience to Jane a few days previously, but at supper this evening the Spazianis went over it again for our benefit. [...]

[...] It was his wife Marian, in a state of high agitation. Marian then described to Jimmy a most vivid and startling experience she had just undergone.

(A few days later, before a class which contained Marian’s daughter, the same teacher burst into tears without apparent cause, and fled the room. The daughter told Marian. Shortly afterward, while working at home, Marian felt what she called a compulsive urge to telephone this teacher and make peace with her; Marian found herself picking up the telephone before she realized what she was doing. [...] Marian had felt she had hurt the teacher unduly, and had no wish to do this. [...]

(Marian had an interesting experience to tell Jane. Recently Marian’s daughter wrote what Marian considered to be an excellent composition on the poet Donne; the quality was exceptional, according to Marian, and she typed up the paper for her daughter to take to school. [...]

[...] Marian Spaziani is a good friend. [...] Seth has also called Marian an excellent telepathic receiver, and has dealt with some of her experiences, concerning the death of her husband’s father, in past sessions. [...]

(Marian and her husband went to school to see the teacher, a middle-aged woman. [...] She did not change the mark she had given however, so Marian and her husband went to the school principal; this individual said he was powerless in such cases.

(Interesting, that this afternoon, the 9th, we were visited by Marian Merrill. [...] She dropped in for a visit, bringing a pudding cake and a Christmas card to her from an old friend-classmate of Marian’s; Marian had seen her friend last year for the first time in 15 years. On the card the feminine friend asked Marian to tell Jane that “the books” had changed her life for the better. Marian had laughed and said that now she’s going to read the books also, to see what had so moved her friend. Marian knows of the Seth thing.

[...] See the summary of the unscheduled 247th session, which was held at the home of our landlady, Marian Spaziani. In the session Seth dealt with the coming operation Marian faces for an ovarian tumor that is benign, and gave Marian ideas for suggestion. Jane visited with Marian one morning early last week, and for the next day or two remarked that she felt quite like Marian’s description of her own symptoms. [...]

[...] Ruburt’s experience with his friend Marian, was in a strange way also a result of his increased abilities.

[...] Marian Spaziani has some, though slight, trouble with arthritis and it was her daughter who became ill mentally. Marian did not approve of her daughter’s companions. [...]

(At 8:30 PM this evening our landlady, Marian Spaziani, and a friend of hers visited us briefly. Marian and her friend, Helen Dyer, both know of the sessions but have not witnessed any. [...]

(It might be mentioned here that quite a few sessions ago Seth dealt with a similar vivid experience of Marian’s, in which she received a message from the father of her husband; the father died perhaps a year ago. [...]

[...] I should note here that Marian and Helen left us at 8:55, and that Helen lives just a block from us.)

(After the session was over at 1:30 AM, Marian’s husband Jimmy arrived home from work. Marian told him about the session. [...]

[...] In it Seth attempted to instruct our landlady, Marian Spaziani, regarding positive suggestion and its application to a benign ovarian tumor.

(In the past Marian had always told us the idea of witnessing a session was too scary. [...]

(During the 247th session Seth told Marian that Jimmy’s health was good. [...]

(Our landlord’s wife, Marian Spaziani, visited us this evening, and told us tales of the people who call her with long histories of their own illnesses, etc. These episodes have begun to leave Marian herself in a nervous state, etc.)

(December 17, Thursday, 11:30 AM: I concentrated on traveling psychically to Marian Spaziani’s kitchen, and kept repeating her name over and over. For a second I glimpsed a small kitchen, that reminded me of Marie Colucci’s. Was Marian perhaps there? [...]

[...] Feeling struck me forcibly that it was caused by Marian Spaziani [our landlady]. [...] It was Jimmy, Marian’s husband. [...]

(In the 210th session for November 22,1965, Seth stated that he had picked up an “incipient malignancy” in Helen Dyer, who is a friend of our landlady, Marian Spaziani. [...] Last weekend Marian’s husband Jimmy told us that Marian herself must have an operation to remove a tumor on an ovary. [...]
