(Again, as it has done quite often in recent sessions, Jane’s voice turned abruptly deeper, and retained some of this heavier timbre for a while.)

(Jane resumed in a voice a little deeper, but still with her very slow delivery, at 9:31.)

(Jane’s voice was somewhat stronger and more forceful than usual, and quite serious.)

(At break reincarnation was naturally discussed, with Lillian voicing some doubts on this score. [...]

Now (in a quieter voice) I am here this evening merely to tell you that I am here. [...]

[...] Jane paced at a normal rate, her eyes darkened as usual, and her voice grew slightly husky.)

[...] The very tone of her voice changed to one of amusement. [...]

[...] An unusual feature was that Jane spoke in either a very low voice or a whisper for the whole session. [...]

[...] Seth began to speak in a loud whisper or a very soft voice, however one chooses to define it, and maintained this aspect throughout the evening, with frequent breaks. [...]

(When Jane did begin the session, fairly late, her Seth voice was quite strong, if rather controlled.)

[...] Jane too had been aware of the more powerful Seth voice; she was a bit surprised at it. [...]

(Even during the session Jane’s voice was restricted, or quiet, as if she did not want to move her jaws and lips energetically.)

(Jane had voiced these thoughts while getting supper this evening; it was the first time I had heard her speak this way. [...]

The beginning of our sessions represents to you your own version of hearing the voice of God, in that you felt that it was the first time in your life that in whatever guise, some portion of the universe “had a message for you”—or that you were in contact with anything beyond the ordinary, that at least held hopes for a glimpse of any real knowledge beyond the known.

(Our dream discussion before the session led me to voice a question about dreams that I don’t think Seth has covered in just that way. [...]

[...] He [Ruburt] had a small experience of hearing a voice speak in his mind [yesterday]—a voice of comfort, all he remembered of quite legitimate assistance he received from other personalities connected with the French life, that came as a result of the French dream. [...]

[...] To some extent the same type of policy is still reflected in your current societies, though science or the state itself may serve instead of the church as the voice of authority. [...]

When Jane began the session her voice was a bit rough and very quiet, but by listening closely I could understand Seth well enough.)

[...] Although her voice had remained muted, her delivery had increased in vigor and emphasis as the session progressed. [...]

Of late, I hear more and more from you both in your private discussions, in which you voice opinions to the effect that overall man can hope to learn little—that the individual can only do so much, that you can at best glimpse the most minute portion of knowledge. [...]

(When Jane did go into trance her Seth voice was again deeper than her usual voice, but not at all loud so as to attract attention. [...]

In a way events are like the spoken components of language, yet voiced in a living form — and not for example only sounded. [...]

(10:56.) The psyche, as it is turned toward physical reality, is a creator of events, and through them it experiences its own reality as through your own speech you hear your voice.

(She began dictating again in a much stronger voice, but this phenomenon did not last very long, perhaps for the following page; her voice then returned to its quiet rather rapid pace. [...]
