Further Steps into the Interior Universe

[...] I have quoted parts of it in other books, yet the analogy Seth gave us is such an excellent introduction to the interior universe and to his ideas that it is almost indispensable. [...]

[...] So, in a like manner, the wires that we constructed are real to us in the universe, although … to me, the walls are transparent. [...]

Again, if you will consider our maze of wires, I will ask you to imagine them filling up everything that is, with your plane and my plane like two small birds nests in the netlike fabric of some gigantic tree … Consider, for example, that these wires are also mobile, constantly trembling and also alive, in that they not only carry the stuff of the universe but are themselves projections of this stuff, and you will see how difficult it is to explain. [...]

(For the record: On June 1,1965 I mailed to Dr. G. H. Instream a letter explaining something of Jane’s ability and the Seth material, plus a list of the inner senses, a list of the basic laws of the universe, and copies of sessions 138, 141, 142, 149, 153 and 154. The letter was sent c/o Colgate University, Hamilton NY.

(On June 8, we received an answer from Dr. Instream, expressing interest, and inviting us to a symposium at State University College, Oswego, NY. [...]

[...] I ask you to sense within yourselves the energy in this voice that you hear, to realize that this energy is also a portion of your own energy—the energy of individuality, the energy of the universe, the energy that grows you from a fetus to the self that you know. [...]

[...] Allow yourselves to recognize the energy of the universe as it flows through your still-physical frames. [...]

[...] It is a necessary preliminary, where the effects are definitely seen in the material universe. [...]

To move an object in one universe, in one field of reality, from another field of reality, is hardly child’s play. [...]

Give us a moment … While connected with your own civilization, the man Einstein¹ came closest perhaps in this regard, for he was able to quite naturally identify himself with various “functions” of the universe. [...]

The true [mental] physicist² will be a bold explorer — not picking at the universe with small tools, but allowing his consciousness to flow into the many open doors that can be found with no instrument, but with the mind.

THE UNIVERSE AND THE PSYCHE

Give us a moment… If we must speak in terms of continuity, which I regret, then in those terms you could say that life in the physical universe, on your planet, “began” spontaneously in a given number of species at the same time. [...]

(Referred to here is Jane’s attempt to write the book, The Physical Universe as Idea Construction, which she struggled with a few weeks before these sessions began on December 2, 1963.)

The ego is the tool by which the hidden self manipulates in the physical universe. [...]

The interior universe had its influence even as far as pets were concerned! [...]

[...] In the development of each individual we act and reenact the startling events that brought our own universe into existence. The universe was not created in some dim past, but is newly recreated by our own thoughts, dreams, and desires—so that reality happens at all possible levels at once. [...]

In Dreams, “Evolution,” and Value Fulfillment Seth outlines the great cosmic and private energies that in our terms once brought into existence the reality of the universe and the birth of those private, cohesive realities in which our own individual daily lives are couched.

Your beliefs often tell you that life is hard, however, that living is difficult, that the universe, again, is unsafe, and that you must use all of your resources—not to meet the world with anything like joyful abandon, of course, but to protect yourself against its implied threats; threats that you have been taught to expect. [...] In some ways the Seth material has been given credit by the establishment; being taught as university course work, for example. [...]

[...] In one way Ruburt was correct, it is a gift from the universe but it is also a gift from yourselves. [...]

[...] How much do we consciously know, or think we know, about that ultimately mysterious quality within which we construct our universe, our planet, the most minute portion of each one of us, mental or physical, during each moment of our lives? That ineluctable universe within which we swim so beautifully day and night, one that, according to Seth, we also create—and all at once, no less! [...]

[...] When I went out to see what Jane was up to I was greeted with her breakthrough accomplishment—one that, to put it mildly, was to lead to very unexpected challenges and growths in our lives: Jane held up a sheaf of typewriter paper upon which she had scribbled in large handwriting an essay that had come to her as fast as she could write it down: The Physical Universe as Idea Construction. [...] Your ideas about your own body, your mind, the universe and your part in it, and your relationship to family, friends, and environment are all connected to your state of health, to your sense of well-being, or your feelings of dis-hyphen-ease. [...]

[...] They will still feel that they had work to do, or that they were needed — but the main thrusts of their beings still reside in the physical universe.

You both believed in relating personally to the universe. [...]

[...] On those occasions when you feel at one with the universe, or come upon an exceptional experience in which you seem to go beyond yourself, you can be said to be in a state of illumination, and this has many degrees and levels. [...]
