I have mentioned counterparts in a very gentle fashion, and families of consciousness, as these are related to mankind. [...] The problem is, again, that while you are focused in the world of matter, you are allied with only one aspect of your entire consciousness. In a way, you perceive your consciousness almost as you perceive the smooth surface of the coffee table (indicated). You even relate to your consciousness in an objective fashion.

For that matter, the consciousness that you recognize and call your own is the result of this faster-than-light capacity for communication that is a natural attribute that is the main source of your being. Energy is constantly sent into the physical universe through such means.

[...] There is an intimate relationship between you and that portion of the universe that spawned you—that divine particle of consciousness (softly, amused) that constantly grows into your being that grows into what you are.

Many people feel that they have a consciousness in the way that they have a car. [...] There are portions of your consciousness that move faster than light also—but while you conceive of your consciousnesses as a kind of psychological particle, then your experience of it becomes limited to the world of matter in which you believe it must exist.

Once again, in terms of your equations, energy and consciousness and matter are one. And in those terms—in parentheses: (the qualifications are necessary)—consciousness is the agent that directs the transformation of energy into form and of form into energy. All possible visible or invisible particles that you discover or imagine—meaning hypothesized particles—possess consciousness. They are energized consciousness.

[...] Like an adolescent leaving home for the first time, individualized consciousness was also somewhat homesick, and returned often to the family homestead—but gradually gained confidence and left finally to form a [universe].

[...] In deeper terms, however, that purpose is also known now, and to one extent or another the entire universe dreams of it, as once cellular consciousness dreamed of the organs that it might “form.”

At this point in my speculations I’m usually led back to Seth’s EE (or electromagnetic energy) units, and his CU’s (or units of consciousness). These nonphysical entities—and many others of a like nature—are emanations of consciousness, or All That Is, and in “size” rank far below the tiniest particles ever observed in an atom smasher. According to Seth, each unit of consciousness “contains within itself innately infinite properties of expansion, development and organization; yet within itself always maintains the kernel of its own individuality…. [...]

[...] In certain states of consciousness, particularly in projections from the dream state, we achieve a peculiar poise of alertness. This lets us briefly examine the nature of our consciousness by allowing us to view its products — the events and experiences that it creates when released from usual physical focus.

Consciousness forms its own reality, physical and otherwise. [...] Perhaps one day we will move freely within it, alert, conscious and far wiser than we are now.

It is a dimension native to consciousness, I believe, at whatever stage of being, physical or nonphysical. [...] Clues as to our creativity and the nature of our existence can be found there and from it emerges the organizational qualities of normal consciousness as we know it.

It is not in any manner inevitable or a law of the universe. [...] For some reason mankind as a species on your plane has become much more attached to its camouflage patterns than most other kinds of consciousness. And with some important exceptions, all types of consciousness do have their peculiar camouflage patterns to which they more or less adhere.

As breathing is carried on in a manner that seems automatic to the conscious mind, so this important function of transforming the vitality of the universe into pattern units also seems to be carried on automatically. [...]

The rules are that you create your universe—that you create within the system that you know the world that you know. [...] The rules are that this universe is created by the thoughts that exist within each of your minds... [...]

[...] You are, I hope in the midst of a garden of consciousness... [...] These are your thoughts and mental images and they spring out from you, as the petals spring out from a flower, but you can see the petals of a flower and you are not consciously aware of these other images. [...]

[...] And because you consider yourselves above a plant, and do not realize what a fine consciousness they possess. [...]

It utilizes numberless methods of perception, and it has at its command many other kinds of consciousness. [...] The soul can change the focus of its consciousness, and uses consciousness as you use the eyes in your head. Now in my level of existence I am simply aware of the fact, strange as it may seem, that I am not my consciousness. My consciousness is an attribute to be used by me. [...] Soul or entity, then, is more than consciousness.

[...] The universe that you seem to perceive, either visually or through instruments, appears to be composed of galaxies, stars, and planets, at various distances from you. [...] Your senses and your very existence as physical creatures program you to perceive the universe in such a way. [...] This does not mean that you cannot travel to other planets, for example, within that physical universe, any more than it means that you cannot use tables to hold books, glasses, and oranges (as our coffee table did at that moment), although the table has no solid qualities of its own.

You may think of your soul or entity — though only briefly and for the sake of this analogy — as some conscious and living, divinely inspired computer who programs its own existences and lifetimes. But this computer is so highly endowed with creativity that each of the various personalities it programs spring into consciousness and song, and in turn create realities that may have been undreamed of by the computer itself.

[...] I can be aware of myself as I dictate this book through Jane Roberts, and yet also be aware of myself in my own environment; for I send only a portion of myself here, as you perhaps send out a portion of your consciousness as you write a letter to a friend, and yet are aware of the room in which you sit. I send out much more than you do in a letter, for a portion of my consciousness is now within the entranced woman as I dictate, but the analogy is close enough.

[...] It has a validity within very limited perspectives only, for consciousness does, indeed, evolve form and form does not evolve consciousness. All consciousness does, indeed, exist at once and, therefore, it did not evolve in those terms. [...] It is more the other way around in that evolved consciousness forms itself into many different patterns and reigns down in reality. Consciousness did not come from atoms and molecules scattered by chance through the universe or scattered by chance through many universes. Consciousness did not arrive because inert matter suddenly sparked into activity and song. The consciousness existed first and evolved the form into which it then began to manifest itself. [...]

[...] No—no form of matter, however potent, will be self-evolved into consciousness no matter what other bits of matter are added to it, but without the consciousness, the matter would not be there in the universe floating around waiting for another component to give it reality, consciousness, existence or song. Now the atoms and molecules that compose you are glorious impermanent things, and through the leadership of your consciousness have you led them to consciousness and song and through you do they experience what you experience. [...] And when each of you come together in a personal relationship are you then glorifying and adding to the reality of the consciousness that is within those atoms and molecules. [...]

[...] I have said that any of you and all of you create a dream universe of validity, actuality, durability, and for Philip's benefit, self-determination, in the same manner that the entity projects the reality of its various personalities. As there is no contact between the entity and the ordinary conscious ego, so there is no contact on a conscious level between the self who dreams and the dream world which has its own independent existence.

Philip should read the sessions dealing particularly with the laws of the universe, that is with the inner laws of the universe, appreciating then the facts that this universe within all universes is spontaneous while having durability. It would be backtracking to repeat that long discussion, but as the inner universe has as its attributes spontaneity and durability, and as the spacious present is simultaneous while containing within it all pasts and all presents and all futures, and as Philip understands the meaning of expansion in terms not of time or of space but of value fulfillment, so will he intuitively then grasp that no contradiction occurs with actual reality when I say that there is no beginning and no end.

And in the same way that the dream world has no beginning or end, neither does the universe with which you are familiar. [...] It is a product of your own existence, and you can neither consciously call it into existence nor destroy it.

[...] The universe and all planes and universes of existence, come indeed from what you may call energy, vitality, idea; or despite Ruburt’s stubborn blocking, from a personality essence or psychic gestalt which you may refer to as God if you prefer. [...]

[...] You may even feel jealous when you think of it, imagining that the physical universe will continue to exist long after you are gone. By the end of our book, however, I hope you will realize the eternal validity of your own consciousness, and the impermanence of those physical aspects of your environment, and of your universe, that now seem so secure. Like a true absent-minded professor, the conscious self forgets all this, however, so when tragedy appears in the script, difficulty or challenges, the conscious self looks for someone or something to blame. Before this book is done I hope to show you precisely how you create each minute of your experience so that you can begin to exert your true creative responsibility on a conscious level — or nearly so.

As your ordinary waking state perceives an entire universe of physical data, so each of these other states of consciousness perceive realities as complicated, varied, and vivid. [...]

I do not mean to imply, however, that only the great share in this communication of consciousness. [...] There is an unending conversation going on throughout the universe, and a most meaningful one. [...]

Your body repairs itself constantly, and your mind thinks — all without your normally conscious attention. [...] Your thoughts are conscious, but the process of thinking itself is not. [...]

(All intently:) As your life is provided for you, so to speak, by these spontaneous processes, the life of the universe is provided in the same fashion. You see the physical stars, and your instruments probe the distances of space — but the inner processes that make the universe possible are those same processes that propel your own thinking. [...]

[...] Your thinking, breathing, and motion are all guided by activities that are largely unconscious — at least from the standpoint of what you usually think of as the conscious mind.

It is indeed as if some inner spontaneous part of the personality is far more knowledgeable than the conscious portion of which we are so rightfully proud.

[...] And the invisible particles of which I speak not only possess consciousness—but each one is, if you will, a seed that contains within itself a potential for an infinite number of gestalts. Each such invisible particle contains within itself the potential (pause) to embark upon an infinite number of probable variations of consciousness. [...]

[...] To that degree—to that degree (underlined)—portions of your own consciousness are everywhere at once. They are not lost, or spread out in some generalized fashion, but acutely responsive, and as highly alert as your familiar consciousness is now.

It requires that Ruburt forge imagination and reason together in a highly accelerated fashion, and at levels obviously not conscious in usual terms—levels that propel him into my domain. I have my own consciousness at other intervals—intervals that in your terms encompass your own.

[...] Since dreams are a by-product of any consciousness involved with matter, this leads us to the correct conclusion—that trees have their dreams, that all physical matter, being formed about individualized units of consciousness of varying degrees, also participates in the involuntary construction of the dream universe.

The experience of your species involves a certain kind of consciousness development, highly vital. [...] Man’s particular kind of consciousness fiercely identified with the body. [...] The cell might gladly “die,” but the specifically oriented man-and-animal consciousness would not so willingly let go.

Man’s consciousness, and to some extent that of the animals, is more specifically identified with form, however. In order to develop his own kind of individualized awareness, man had to consciously ignore for a while his own place within the structure of the earth. [...] His consciousness would not seem to flow into his body before birth, and out of it after death. [...]

Even when you lost sight — as you knew you would — of those deep connections, they would continue to operate until, in its own way, man’s consciousness could rediscover the knowledge and put it to use — deliberately and willfully, thereby bringing that consciousness to flower. [...] He would become a conscious co-creator. [...]

Now understanding this, you should be able to see how other planes, other reality continuums, can exist simultaneously with your own, and be unperceived consciously. This point of over lapse, or overlap, this point of overlap is extremely important, for there are points of overlapping in all universes; and this will also be a be a basic factor in travel, although not in any future in the physical universe in which you will be involved.

As cooperation exists to aid in the maintenance of your physical universe, so cooperation exists between the unseen universes and your own universe; and each universe continually aids the other in the maintenance of reality.

[...] It is concerned with the entity’s innate working knowledge of the basic vitality of the universe, without which no manipulations of vitality would be possible—as, for example, you could not stand up straight without first having an innate sense of balance.

Framework 2 involves all of those spontaneous processes that go on beneath your conscious attention. When you are very young your beliefs are quite clear — that is, your conscious and unconscious leanings and expectations are harmonious. As you grow older, however, and begin to accumulate negative beliefs, then your conscious and unconscious beliefs may be quite different.

Consciously you might want to express certain abilities, while unconsciously you are afraid of doing so. [...] You are simply not as aware of them as you are of normally conscious ones. [...]

[...] Each individual is a good person, an individualized portion of universal energy itself. [...]

Briefly, Framework 1 deals with all the events of which you are normally conscious.
