[...] He did this to give himself time on a conscious level to deal with the situation. Some time ago, after Seven, he mentioned my book, my new book, to Ruburt, and Ruburt said he did not want to contract trance material ahead of time, so Tam let it rest.

[...] The charge built up, for him (underlined) about time and work, is masking of course his fear of not achieving as he wants to. This is aside from normal practical considerations of time.

For some time I have given you much advice, many suggestions, knowing full well that some would go by the board. [...]

Because time is open-ended, as you think of it, you can also affect what you would think of as past reincarnational selves, and at times react in and to their environment. [...]

[...] Even a life centuries ago may be perfect in detail however if it included, for example, battles or events of great import, where the dates themselves were impressed upon the personalities because of the occurrences at those times.

[...] As session time approached she felt a little nervous, yet not very much. By 8:50 PM, Willy was once again prowling through the apartment, both alert and stealthy at the same time. [...]

In fact, cotton soaked in this water, and applied upon the eyelids before psychological time experiments would be the most beneficial. [...] At some times the temperature of the water will be as low as 58 degrees Fahrenheit.

[...] At the same time, her neck was so relaxed that her head kept dipping down. I said I felt that her fears were behind much of her hip discomfort, and she had admitted to feelings of fear several times lately—including today when she did her notes. [...]

[...] This I mentioned in particular some time ago (long pause). He feels he is facing the nitty-gritty, determined for a way out, yet still at times he is afraid the worst possibilities will occur instead, and he is suspicious of changes in the body unless they are of obvious improvements. [...]

[...] Creatures relied upon inner senses while learning to operate the new, highly specific physical ones that pinpointed perception in time and place. This pinpointing of perception was of vital importance, for with the full arousal of consciousness in flesh, intersections with space and time [had to be] impeccable.

For some time, in your terms, the sleepwalkers remained more or less at that level of activity, and for many centuries they used the surface of the earth as a kind of background for other activity.Their real life was what you would now call the dreaming one. [...]

(Both Jane and I have lately begun to practice psychological time regularly, if only for a few minutes each day. For myself I have nothing yet to report; and as previously noted, Jane has had some success at various times with what are usually quite brief flashes of insight.

[...] Ten minutes of your clock time a day would certainly be of great value in the use of psychological time, and I suggest that you try this.

[...] Consciousness takes up no space nor is it enclosed by time, as you know time. [...]

[...] For some time there was no direct challenge, however, made to the Sinful Self once Ruburt left the church. His creative abilities were growing and developing, his concepts enlarging, but he was for some time so convinced of science’s viewpoint that the ideas of the Sinful Self were looked upon as unworthy and superstitious. We will save that for another time. That will take some time. [...]

(At the same time, on the occasions when she’d come half awake, Jane told herself that she remembered Seth’s material on expressing previously buried fears, and made strong efforts to go along with it by letting the feelings surface where she could encounter them. [...]

(The last time Seth’s entity spoke was in the 446th session for November 6, 1968. We had wondered at times why the entity hadn’t spoken more often; Seth has said little about his entity, and we did not ask that this personality speak tonight.

[...] It is necessary that we rely upon the mental equipment of the person through whom we speak, and at times we are able to activate the intellectual capacities many times above normal, in order that certain concepts be given. [...]

(A note: at times Jane’s head would shift or vibrate slightly from side to side. [...] This has been noted a few times before when Seth’s entity speaks. [...]

[...] On the other, he must not let ideas about time and the body impede him. [...] Yet Frank believes that muscles can only operate in a certain way in time, and he supposes that certain improvements must therefore take so much time. [...]

[...] The muscles need time, practically speaking. Yet the time needed can be prolonged if it is concentrated upon. [...]

[...] At times she’d stressed the syllables of words more than the words themselves; at other times she hadn’t.

[...] I remember that I was sick three times that winter, each time to a lesser degree. The first two episodes cost me work time of several days each. I do not remember having any thoughts, at any time, connecting my illnesses to the polio vaccines.)

[...] As Seth said, she did not appear; her planned activities at the newspaper where she works were changed unexpectedly; she was taken out of town Wednesday night, the time of the 242nd session. Peggy was given the assignment in the afternoon, she said, and it could have been around 3 PM; she does not know the exact time. [...]

(At supper time this evening we were notified that once again Peggy could not appear tonight. [...]

[...] I take it for granted that you understand the jumps in time. This was merely to remind you of certain continuities without going over events already mentioned—so going back to the point in time mentioned earlier in tonight’s session: when Dialogues was finished Ruburt tried it out on Prentice, and felt briefly that Tam might take it. Even then there was talk from a time earlier about a paperback deal. [...]

[...] You would have time to work and play. [...]

Both of you were sure of your love, but each of you at various times were quite willing to let its personal aspects take second place, and I am not speaking alone of physical love-making. [...]

I will from time to time give subsidiary material for Ruburt and also for you, implementing a chapter in the book for your personal use. [...]

[...] Each time I woke up, dictation, or stuff like that, was going on. It was pretty insistent — almost unpleasantly so at times….” [...]

[...] It orients you toward the environment in which you must operate, and it is because of the mind’s allegiance with the temporal brain that you perceive, for example, time as a series of moments.

(As Seth stated in the 201st session, Jane’s psychological time experience of October 22, involving the Gallaghers, did prove to be quite legitimate; along with some less striking psy-time events Jane experienced during the week Peg and Bill were in Puerto Rico.

[...] I have at times been more presentable than that. Someday we shall show that face, and this face (Jane pointed to herself) for I am a stubborn gentleman, and in my own time we shall indeed give quite adequate proofs of what I am.

[...] Before this however we had the time to go over the three sessions in which Seth dealt with the Gallaghers while they were on vacation in Puerto Rico; these are sessions 199, 200, and 201.

[...] Let the room, therefore, be a meeting place of selves, a gathering together of selves from many times and places. Let the secrets of your selves come into your knowledge and into what you think of as this time and place, and let all portions of your personality therefore unite and meet here. Let there be a convention of selves from all places and times. [...]

[...] And as many of you come and go, so have you come and gone in other times and places. And you will indeed work out dramas in what you think of as this room, and by working out these dramas, you change events both in your past and in your future, for time is open-ended. [...]

(Phil went over to Janice and they embraced, “I won’t leave you again; I want to stay this time,” Phil said. [...]

[...] This at once compressed her ideas of the time in which to do anything, although I didn’t feel any pressure. She asked me about the time quite often.

(After a meager lunch she said that last night she got a flash, like an “ear pop,” that she wasn’t going to die at this time. [...]

[...] I must be more negative than I thought after all this time, for I didn’t believe her when she said she wasn’t going to die now. [...]

[...] We saw at once that the book had been rather drastically cut—not only my own notes, which contain excerpts from Seth material at times—but Seth’s material itself. [...] Times are also left out, and no words are underlined. [...]

(Jane also discussed with Tam a number of points growing out of our last royalty statements; some of these are quite legitimate gripes that we’ve kept quiet about for some time. Her implications to Tam were clear enough—we hope: that for the first time she was thinking of alternate courses of action to being published by Prentice-Hall, perhaps trying other publishers, Eleanor Friede among them. [...]

[...] I would suggest walking three times a day now, as he has been doing, but one more time. [...]

[...] When you attempt to understand your psyche, and define it in terms of time, then it seems that the idea of reincarnation makes sense. [...] And so you try to define the psyche in terms of time, and in so doing you limit your understanding and even your experience of it.

Largely, the writing of this book occurs in a “no-time, or out-of-time context.” [...]

(9:15.) When in colonial times men and women traveled westward across the continent of North America, many of them took it on faith that the land did indeed continue beyond — for example — towering mountains. [...]

3. A note added five months later: For some of Seth’s early remarks about time, see the excerpts from the 14th session (for January 8, 1964) in Chapter 4 of The Seth Material. I quoted a few lines from the same session midway through the Introductory Notes for Volume 1 of “Unknown” Reality (as well as after the 724th session in Volume 2), and considered some thoughts about our attempts to grasp Seth’s concept of simultaneous time. The notes introducing this first volume also contain other applicable material having to do with Jane’s trance production times for the Seth books.

Your own consciousness as you think of it, as you are familiar with it, can indeed help lead you into some much greater understanding of the simultaneous nature of time³ if you allow it to. You often use tools, instruments, and paraphernalia instead — but they do not feel time, in those terms. [...] Studying your own conscious experience with time will teach you far more. [...]

Ruburt has at times been able to throw his consciousness into small physical instruments (computer components, for instance), and to perceive their inner activity at the level of, say, electrons. Given time, in your terms, a knowledge of the structure of so-called particles could be quite as clearly understood by using such techniques. [...]

Is Seth actually my trance personality, though — a native of timeless psychological realms, who sends his messages to our time-tinted world? Or am I Seth’s trance personality, living in space and time, nearly forgetful of my heritage? [...]

[...] Actually, I was quite concerned with the quick passage of time, and the pressure to prepare manuscripts for publication. [...] I knew that on session nights, Rob “lost” his work time on that project, and he still had to type up the latest book session on the following day, while all I had to do was … what? [...]

I’d been producing my own books during this time, and getting them ready for publication, so surely Seth wasn’t taking up any creative slack of my own. [...] They yielded results in the world of time. [...]
