“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(After supper we discussed various attitudes about work, art, writing, and other subjects that we’d held over the years. [...] These subjects also show up in the session.

[...] So brief conversations with you on that subject, or on your work in general, or on any subject whatsoever, will automatically quicken his mood and responses. [...]

[...] I will help you more in the near future, when we devote several weeks to the subject. [...]

(As far as I can recall, this is the first time Seth has stated such an approach to a problem, explicitly; although in the past he has referred to various subjects by saying he was not well informed about them.)

Whenever you have your own undivided attention you act as hypnotist and subject simultaneously. [...]

You, while being of great help, could not subjectively follow him, or lead him into out-of-body activity, and so he felt he had only himself to rely upon. [...]

For example, in Chapter 12 of her own book, Jane began an impassioned four-page discussion of the subject by quoting her own notes:

[...] It is very possible, however, that science itself will in time discover the unfortunate side effects of many such procedures, and begin to reevaluate the entire subject.

[...] Most of all, there would be far — if you will excuse me — better communication between the subjective layers of the self, an increased sense of security, and, particularly with children, an earlier kindling of creative abilities.

[...] Interpretations became elusive indeed, and part of our knowledge that two visits to Saratoga were involved was subjective only. [...]

[...] Jane feels subjectively sure that here the meeting between us and her father, Del, and his third wife, is referred to. [...]

The change in his subjective life is considerable, as the psychic work and his easy manner in the chapter clearly shows. [...]

When we are finished with the discussion we have begun (on time), there will be many dealing with the subject, not necessarily connected however with your own situation. [...]

[...] And now if all the fireworks are over, may I return to the subject from which I was so uproariously interrupted.

[...] I much prefer personally an active, fairly alert personality student rather than a deep trance subject who passively receives and transmits spoon-fed knowledge. [...]

The temporary and apparent sense of freedom from the camouflage pattern oftentimes leads the subject or student into a false sense of freedom from it in daily life, and causes a lack of ego discipline that should be maintained. [...]

[...] I came across the calendar beneath a stack of books and on the spur of the moment decided to use it for the test, wondering whether this type of cut and dried subject matter would have as much emotional pull for Seth/Jane as the subject matter of the first two tests. [...]

(As will be seen, there were some very interesting developments because I chose this particular subject for a test.

[...] Now as these wires pass seemingly from plane to plane they actually form the boundaries of each plane and become subject to the particular laws of the plane. Therefore they become subject to time on your plane. And they become subject to other laws, if not laws of time, on other planes.

(The reader will note that I did not ask Seth to comment on my writings concerning art, but that the subject came up during the monologue. [...]

Using age as an example now, it may seem to you that you are a given age, that within your subjective experience it must be paramount, that regardless of your age you are to some extent closed off from the experience of being any other age. [...]

[...] We’ve also accumulated considerable unpublished material on the subject.

It goes without saying that had Ruburt known beforehand the subject matter of the session, he would have blocked it. [...]

[...] This is not only understandable but in many instances profitable, in that it allows for a diversity of subject matter.

There is also something else you can do at such times—and try all of these suggestions of mine, for one or another may be particularly effective, while another simply does not suit you as well: one way or another, imagine a kind of neutral platform, a subjective platform. [...]

(“Man’s own subjective reality, in all of its manifestations [pause] is the only one real “tool” that will give him any indication of his own greater existence, and therefore of his own origins and that of the universe. [...]

[...] I want the passages chosen to make sense on their own, out of context, and to focus clearly on the subject; at the same time, I don’t want to include too many or too few of my own notes. [...]

(Jane and I would rather explore specific reincarnational information in an outright book on the subject, and then only after we’d acquired much more personal [and theoretical] material. We do think that in detail, reincarnation, whether it’s seen in ordinary terms or within the “simultaneous” framework espoused by Seth, can be an endless subject.²⁷

[...] Jane is subjectively sure these impressions refer to the telephone calls she was involved in, and the conflicting desires of the family members. [...]

[...] I used two of the maple leaves Jane and I gathered on our October 1965 walk as subjects for a watercolor painting. [...]

I suggest you take a break, and then I will have a few more remarks on the subject.

Your scientists with their instruments have succeeded in inducing the emotions of fear, sorrow, and so forth in some operations, but the experience itself remains subjective and psychological. [...]

[...] At times she felt this way subjectively about Seth taking over her voice, though outwardly during this session there had been little change. [...]
