In other words you have each been to a large extent concentrating upon the problem you want to be rid of, so that you see your entire existence only in that light, and you should each know better.

This should be perfectly all right. Ruburt should not visit his mother however, nor waste any time wondering about the matter.

When he gains confidence this will not be necessary and the hours should be used as a framework. He should discuss his feelings clearly with you about those hours, and if he finds himself scrambling to meet them and so forth.
