[...] Before, you did not know whether or not you wanted it capable enough to lift Ruburt, for you were afraid of setting up an unfortunate pattern of behavior. [...]

We will probably not have a full session this evening, since really I treated Ruburt so poorly during our last two sessions. [...]

There is undoubtedly much to be covered along those lines, and in one supposition Ruburt was correct: there is still some material to be discussed before I go into your own experiences.

I hope that you are in suspense, and that you will be disappointed, even Ruburt, when I say that I will close the session. [...]

This latest adventure should bring all of this out in the open, while also training Ruburt to concentrate upon pleasant rather than unpleasant stimuli. [...]

Ruburt and Joseph have both worked with the nature of creativity, and from an early age each of them sought for answers — but most of all they trusted the destiny and grace of their beings.

[...] Ruburt has connections to make, and there will be other books of mine — and of his and yours — and centuries before we really begin what seems to have begun.

Ruburt was correct: The picture of you, taken on the hill in the front yard (by a friend), portrays you as far as your stance toward the hill house and land is concerned. Ruburt was never athletically inclined, but always loved nature. [...]

“The table beside Ruburt senses him even as Ruburt senses the table … The abilities of the tree are latent in man as, dear Joseph, are the abilities of man latent in the tree.”

[...] Ruburt will find that he is able to return to himself almost automatically. [...]

We will also find that it becomes natural and easy for Ruburt to speak in the manner in which he is now speaking, as a matter of course; and full concentration can still be given to the material in which we are interested.

It is very possible that Ruburt will soon discover that I am who I say I am. [...]

(10:13.) Now: Ruburt’s condition is as I gave it last time, and it is highly important that you both keep this in mind: The bodily commotion is most beneficial. [...]

A note to Ruburt: he is of late too severe with those in his Tuesday class, too hard a taskmaster.

[...] Now the irritability of the crew (Shirra, Eisele and Cunningham) is not due as Ruburt suspected to relative and also symbolic isolation, although this does have some bearing. [...]

[...] Yours is simply not one that I have pursued, and one of the purposes of my appearance at these sessions is to acquaint the one you call Ruburt with inner travel, for he must leave the system as you know it, and in doing so set up habits and paths that can be used to advantage.

(Seth:) Now that big brother has had his say, I will bring our Ruburt back to you, and let you take a break. [...]

In Ruburt’s case, patterns of behavior were concerned—picked up for the purposes of intensification. Ruburt’s mother, and to a large extent your father, had some similar behavior problems. In Ruburt’s case, we are still dealing with functioning—impaired functioning—rather than genetic results. Tell Ruburt the end does not justify the means (with humor) in his particular situation, any more than in any other. [...]

In Ruburt’s case, there is no particular genetic connection. [...]

Tell Ruburt that the same energy that healed or mended his right knee can also straighten it out. [...]

I may or may not return again et cetera, but I do activate those coordinates that quicken Ruburt’s healing processes.

Ruburt has used considerable amounts of energy in this evening’s exercise. [...]

(8:35.) In such cases Ruburt of course looks for even more assurances, and feels somewhat isolated under those conditions. [...]

Now there are progressions, so to speak, of understanding, and when you reach the level currently experienced by yourself and Ruburt, then you will be driven because of the seeming conflict into the kind of synthesis that I have just spoken of allegorically. [...]

[...] At least you want to paint your own unique vision, and Ruburt wants to write his. [...]

Ruburt prepares himself in certain ways for our sessions. [...]

[...] Because Ruburt is not at his best I am going to close our session, and give you this material at our next regular meeting.

[...] In certain terms, Ruburt was in contact with your parents the other afternoon. I speak through Ruburt—or through Jane Roberts, if you prefer. Ruburt has his own creative abilities, and uses them well, and it is to a large extent because of those abilities that our contact first took place (in December 1963). Scientists like to say that if you look outward at the universe, you look backward in time. [...]
