(This time Jane really pounded upon my desk, smiling as she did so. I replied that I was glad we were all in fine form; and instead of breaking, Jane once more pounded the table, then continued in a most vehement and pleased manner. [...]

[...] I don’t know how many free pounds of candy I must have given out….” [...]

[...] I do suggest the pillow pounding, for it encourages the expression of normally aggressive feelings through bodily release, rather than repression through bodily tension.

(The energy at Jane’s command still impresses me, especially when I consider that she weighs less than ninety-five pounds. [...]

[...] Had someone pounded on the door abruptly and broken Jane’s state she would have been painfully aware of it.

(Here Jane pounded upon the table for emphasis.)

[...] With Seth’s evident help, Jane herself began at least a partial answer — one that was cut off by our visitor, Barbara, pounding upon our door. [...]
