“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(10:31 P.M. Seth’s last remark, which I took to be rather humorous, reflected one of the reasons for Jane’s upset before the session: the conflict she feels between having just book sessions versus obtaining Seth material on at least a few of the other subjects we always have in mind. [...]

1. Seth first mentioned viruses in the 17th session for January 26, 1964, when I asked him to comment upon the recent deaths of our dog, Mischa, at the age of 11, and of a pair of kittens Jane had obtained from the janitor of the art gallery where she worked part time. [...]

To obtain knowledge consciously other than that usually available, you pay attention to the pauses, to the implied elements in language, to any felt or sensed quality upon which the recognizable experiences of life reside. [...]

[...] As you give inner purpose and organization to your dreams, and as you obtain insight and satisfaction from your dreams though they involve only a part of your life, so the entity to some extent directs and gives purpose and organization to his personalities during their existence. And so does the entity obtain insights and satisfactions from his existing personalities, although no one takes up all of his own attentions.

[...] I use it, with excellent results, to obtain ideomotor — “subconscious” — responses about knowledge that lies just outside my usual consciousness. [...] By mentally asking questions, I obtain ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers according to whether the pendulum swings back and forth, or from side to side.”

2. Here’s an example of how far I went myself to obtain a sense of ease about an imaginary situation upon which I’d often projected negative thoughts.

You asked the question about the subconscious this evening, before the session, and Ruburt immediately interpreted it in the light of the following: the weight of the responsibility it carried for all those psychologists, and all of their patients, and his responsibility to obtain, in capitals, the answer, not only for himself but for all those other people. [...]

[...] So far, though, we haven’t succeeded in obtaining the best results from the equipment.)

[...] Later in the evening we obtained legitimate results with the table; during one of these experiments the table told us that the communicator was Don Wilbur’s grandfather.)

[...] Moreover, I think the fact that such high-quality work is obtained this way says important things about these sessions.)

(Pause, one of few, at 9:50.) I expect that by now my readers have at least begun to examine their beliefs, and perhaps obtained a glimpse of some invisible ones that had been accepted before as definite aspects of reality.

[...] It seems that you can seed the clouds with chemicals and bring forth rain when it is needed, and therefore obtain a power over the environment that is quite practical. [...]

[...] At first it had little meaning for her, and as is often the case she said the data obtained pertaining to it was incorrect. [...]

(Since this experiment was a little different, I had decided not to ask many questions, preferring to see what results were obtained without them. [...]

[...] It concerns the fact that we are buying a set of dishes of our own at Loblaw’s supermarket; Jane said she was determined to get a set of dishes adequate for our needs. The disadvantage however is that obtaining the set in this fashion is much more expensive than she had figured on.

[...] All of these ideas obtain their charge from a basic belief in the powerlessness of the conscious self to form and regulate its experience.

[...] It is simply not as easy to obtain. [...]

[...] We’ve already obtained some interesting pendulum answers, this morning, about the event, concerning emotional factors that lead to physical restraint. [...]

Those of you who cannot practically make any alterations in sleeping habits can still obtain some benefits by changing your beliefs in the areas discussed, learning to recall your dreams and resting briefly when you can, and immediately afterward recording those impressions that you retain.

[...] For many centuries creativity itself was firmly directed by Christianity, and to some extent (underlined) Christianity brings with it an air of uneasiness for society—to the extent that any original thought or insight must indeed imply an intrusive force to a world that must exist in a rare balance that is the result of preserving old values and obtaining new knowledge. While your relationship, that is the relationship between you and Ruburt, is extremely helpful to you both, you have a tendency, each of you, to become ingrown; and psychically you do need a variety, influx and the diversified data subconsciously obtained from others, as you also add to their influx.
