The therapeutic dream cut short Ruburt’s poor mood by a good two weeks, and the same tactics can be utilized in the future most productively.

(My own moods have been poor lately, and it’s been a struggle to revive myself at times and to try to keep them from influencing Jane, for I can see that they do. [...]

[...] My first thought was to recast his subjunctive mood in the next paragraph entirely in the present tense. [...]

1. Jane’s particular mood today, and my own remarks, shouldn’t be taken to mean that we don’t understand why people attend psychic fairs, for example. [...]

Then he contrasted his present position against the idealized desired one, all of which served to lower his mood, and intensify his susceptibility to the heat, chair pressure, and so forth.

You may find his moods quickly changing under such circumstances. [...]
