(“From my desk in my study I faced the windows of our small kitchen. I could look through the treetops beyond them — we live on the second floor — and down to the street on the next block. Not three-dimensionally, but in another way more vividly, I … saw … sensed … massive figures standing around the edge of that physical view; and around the edges of the world. My eyes were open, of course. With my inner sight I felt that one of those forms, sturdy and impossibly massive, might bend down and with his gigantic face peek into my kitchen window … though I was also aware that all of this was my interpretation of what I was receiving.

(Jane finds her “massive feelings,” as she calls them, not only instructive psychically, but exhilarating indeed when they encompass revelatory or transcendent states of consciousness. One day in April, 1973, she had a fine series of encounters with massiveness, many of them embodying those extra qualities; see her own account of the whole adventure in the notes for the 653rd session in Chapter 13 of Personal Reality.

[...] Her first massive sensations in March [estimated], 1962, were followed by these phenomena in 1963: our York Beach experiences in August; her reception of Idea Construction in September; her massive feelings in October [estimated]; the outline she produced for ESP Power [or The Coming of Seth] as a result of the Idea Construction adventure; and the beginning of these sessions in November, through our trying certain experiments listed in that outline [as Jane explains in Chapter 1 of The Seth Material]. (In my notes preceding the 39th session for March 30, 1964, I described the first massive state Jane experienced after beginning the Seth sessions. [...]

(Then suddenly my own body and the room and John and Rob, the whole bit, began to get larger and larger, really massive, my body along with everything else, and at the same time, eyes closed of course, I felt the shapes doing this. [...] Everything retained usual shape, for example, only grew and kept growing to massive degrees. [...]

[...] If the room was going to shrink and all of us with it—as it had grown massive, I just wasn’t ready for the experience. [...]

[...] If this would be called hallucinatory by psychologists, then of course far more than vision was involved; the massive quality was definitely sensed directly and vividly. [...]

(I’ve already cited Jane’s experience, as given in Chapter 17 of The Seth Material, showing that on rare occasions Seth Two and her feelings of massiveness can go together; but she can also be in an altered, massive state of consciousness without having a session, or she can be speaking for Seth. Seth or Seth Two — obviously, when either of those qualities combine with her massive perceptions, then Jane knows a multifaceted trance state. In Volume 1, Seth devoted much of the 681st session to a discussion of probabilities, or, in sum, All That Is, and interwound Jane’s psychic and physical experiences with that material: “The cellular consciousness experiences itself as eternal … Part of Ruburt’s feeling of massiveness² comes from the mass [life-to-death] experience of the body, existing all at once. [...] Beginning at 11:10 in that session, see also Jane’s own comments on her massive responses.

[...] “I’ve got that massive feeling again,” she said finally, referring to Monday night’s session. Her massiveness, among other effects, had been very pronounced for her then; she’d felt herself to be truly giant-sized. [...]

[...] The excerpts show not only something of Seth’s connections on the “other side” of Jane, but in one case her violent reactions of surprise and panic when she attempted to translate something of Seth Two’s reality in terms of our own camouflage world: She found herself deeply involved in an unexpected experience with “massiveness” — one of the subjects I want to refer to in these preliminary notes. (Jane’s expressions of long sound and her sensations of massiveness are of course directly related to the multidimensional neurological activity, the “sidepools” of consciousness, that she described in Appendix 4 of Volume 1. Seth also mentioned neurological pulses and/or speeds in various sessions in Volume 1. [...] Then at 11:15: “I’m just waiting …” Then: “Now I’m getting different things but they aren’t clear, so I’ll just wait …” Then at 11:20: “I’m getting one of those frustrating things that’s too big — too massive, really, — to be verbalized. [...]

[...] (Long pause.) Ruburt experiences now what he calls a massive quality, a physical and psychic expansion of consciousness in which the dear familiar world seems small — yet twice precious. [...]

(12:05 A.M. Jane said her “massive” feeling was gone now. [...]

(Pause at 10:36.) Ruburt is at this moment feeling massive.* He is experiencing several things. The inner cellular body consciousness feels itself massive, while to you cells are minute. [...]

[...] Ruburt now, again, is experiencing massiveness, as in your idea of probabilities the cellular structure feels its vast endurance. [...]

Again, Ruburt is still experiencing massiveness…. [...]

(Long pause at 11:05.) Part of Ruburt’s feeling of massiveness comes from the mass experience of the body, existing all at once. [...]

[...] The doctor suggested that he face himself by taking another massive dose, and though he did not want to, he acquiesced.

In therapy using massive doses of LSD, a condition of chemically enforced insanity takes place. [...]

[...] But the experiences undergone by the patients — and all of this applies to massive doses — represent the enactment, through terrible encounter, of the species’ birth into consciousness, and its death as consciousness falls back annihilated; followed by its rebirth as the individual patient struggles to emerge again from dimensions not native under those conditions.

[...] (Jane leaned forward for emphasis:) Such massive doses of LSD chemically activate all levels of cellular memory to such an extent that in certain terms they are no longer in charge of themselves, and the memories can then emerge unpredictably when the system is under stress. [...]

[...] And through all of this, the entity formed from that massive chaos retains its identity and the knowledge of its pasts, and continues to grow in creativity. [...]

[...] Such massive liberations of energy will be used, but not in your lifetime, to begin to unify the whole planet, in peace. [...]

They originated from themselves, massive units of energy, that reacted automatically, and in an explosive manner upon the form of the system. [...]

[...] And through all of this, the entity formed from that massive chaos retains its identity and its knowledge of its “pasts” and continues to grow in creativity.

[...] Such massive liberations of energy will be used, but not in your lifetimes, to begin to unify the whole planet in peace. [...]

They originated from themselves, massive units of energy that reacted automatically and in an explosive manner upon the form of the system. [...]

(Jane told me that her feelings of massiveness had left her by the time she began her own dissertation. [...]

(Now here’s how I “put this together with the Seth stuff,” meaning that from my viewpoint I’ll briefly discuss the various states of consciousness Jane enjoyed today, as well as her massive sensations and her psychic perceptions of sound in connection with tonight’s session. [...]

(And she’s quite conscious of the fact that her massive sensations are one of the ways by which, as she has written, she tries to “view our three-dimensional existence and this universe from outside this framework” or to travel beyond the conventionalized psychic postcards.

[...] At this writing I still feel an occasional, if mild, return of the first massive relaxation of April 24: very pleasant. [...]

(The house was noisy temporarily: A carpenter in a downstairs apartment was using an electric saw at frequent intervals as he repaired some of the damage caused by last June’s massive flood. [...]

[...] She helped me carry on the massive project of continuing the work that Debbie Harris had begun: copying many more of the thousands of pages of Jane’s and my work for the archives of the library at Yale. [...]

It is this inner self, out of massive knowledge and the unlimited scope of its consciousness, that forms the physical world and provides stimuli to keep the outer ego constantly at the job of awareness. [...]

The individual inner self, then, through constant massive effort of great creative intensity, cooperates with all other inner selves to form and maintain the physical reality that you know, so that physical reality is an offshoot or by-product of the highly conscious inner self.

[...] The geese looked very vulnerable against the massive roll of the earth beneath them, but this was an illusion: Like every other entity on earth, each one of those birds knew very well what it was doing. [...]

In his massive imagination, he understood the cosmic multiplication of consciousness that could not occur within that framework. [...]

[...] He also recognized within each consciousness massive potential that existed. [...]

Then, re-reading some material I was struck by the massive intellect behind it, the real beauty of the material, and sad that I did not really let myself realize it before; indeed that I had allowed myself to be affected by the lesser writings of others; even to the extent that in some late sessions it affected the material. [...] Jane and I passionately believe that instead of concentrating primarily upon nuclear power the United States should be making massive efforts to utilize many other sources of energy — at least until the risks and technologies involved with generating nuclear power are understood much more thoroughly. [...] We think such alternate sources should be pursued even if they cost more in economic terms than nuclear power, either initially or continually, for surely none of them could produce the horrendous results — and enormous costs — that would follow even one massive failure at a nuclear power plant.

It is this inner self, out of the massive knowledge and unlimited scope of its consciousness, that forms the physical world, that provides stimuli to keep the ego constantly at the job of awareness. [...]

An individual inner self, then, through constant massive effort of great creative intensity, cooperates with all other inner selves to form and maintain the physical reality that you know, so that physical reality is an offshoot or by-product of (pause), the highly conscious creative inner self.
