[...] (Pause.) As your private conscious life is lived in a community setting of one kind or another as a rule, so do your dreams take place in the same context, so that as you dream for yourself, to some extent you also dream for your own family, for your community, and for the world.

(Long pause at 9:00.) One of the main purposes of dreaming, therefore, is to increase man’s pleasure, which means to increase the quality of living itself. [...]

This should lead you to understand why physical time is basically meaningless to the subconscious, and why the inner self has at its command a knowledge of past lives and past endeavors; for the inner self, dear friends, these lives are not in the past, nor is the life of the ego necessarily present to the whole self.

(It will be remembered that in the 63rd session, June 17, 1964, Seth stated that he could “also see a sort of trouble in September for a woman neighbor who lives three doors down the street from him” in Williamsport, PA, “the difficulty here somehow involving two children... [...]

(John told us that although he had kept his eyes and ears open for news, he knew of nothing happening to any such neighbor, although as explained through John’s map in the 63rd session, two such women neighbors with children live three doors from him. [...]

[...] The beginnings, to use that distortive term again, the beginnings of dreams reach back into past lives of which you are not aware, and beyond even this the origins are part of a heritage before your planet even existed.

[...] This is a difficult lesson to learn, and many live lives in which the entire question is never encountered. [...]

[...] Their abilities yearn for release, and overall their lives are, in your terms, incredibly dim. [...]

Each person seeks value fulfillment, and that means that they choose various lives in such a fashion that all of their abilities and capacities can be best developed, and in such a way that their world is also enriched. [...]

(As I told Jane last night, I didn’t realize that I was so tight, so bound up with tensions and stresses, that I was ready to fall ill because of those basic conflicts with self-disapproval, the male-provider role, money, taxes, and all the rest of the daily paraphernalia of living. [...]
