“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

Jane has been feeling much better in recent days as far as her physical “symptoms” go; she’s had some good spontaneous relaxation periods, and her walking has improved considerably. [...] This afternoon she finished typing her final version of Chapter 5 for God of Jane.

[...] On that day Tam Mossman of Prentice-Hall called Sue Watkins to ask her permission to publish Conversations With Seth in two volumes; Sue’s account of Jane’s ESP classes is now too long for a single book. [...]

Today I visited our optometrist—with results that Jane and I find most intriguing.¹)

[...] This time the data concerned the reasons behind Jane’s years of training in writing poetry and fiction. [...] Seth explained how Jane’s poetry had always been “a creative offshoot of her desire to understand the nature of existence and reality, her way of probing psychically… into other realms… a method of investigation and a method of exploring the results.”

[...] Jane’s delivery gradually began to speed up.)

[...] Jane had been well dissociated. [...]

(My original notes for this session included Seth’s long delivery in Jane’s ESP class last night, June 23, 1970. [...] Since that session answers questions Jane and I are often asked, we’ve included it in the Appendix almost in its entirety.)

(As she often does when witnesses are present, Jane began her delivery at a fast and animated pace. [...]

(As Seth, Jane pointed to John Barclay, sitting beside me on the couch. [...]

(10:48 P.M. Jane’s trance had been quite variable this time, and I had continued to cough. [...] The material was of a type, Jane added, that was difficult to get while she contended with such distractions.)

[...] We sat for it as usual at about 9:00, but Jane didn’t “feel Seth around” right away. [...]

[...] Jane has no paleontological background.)

[...] Now he jumped into Jane’s lap, so I had to lay my notebook aside. [...] Jane sat waiting patiently in trance.)

(Through March 26 to 28, Jane had a notice running under Personals in the Elmira Star Gazette, stating her intention to form a class in creative writing. [...]

[...] Jane was concerned about the influx of people for the latter, since she has run out of room in the apartment. [...]

Jane laughed when I asked her why she hadn’t told me of her feelings about Jonestown before: “You never asked me.” [...] The mass deaths at Jonestown (in November 1978) took place during our long layoff from book dictation, but Seth began discussing the affair almost at once in our private material, as Jane described in her own portion of the opening notes for Session 831. [...]

[...] “Do you want to say something about Jane?” I asked. [...]

(Jane told me as we sat for the session tonight that she’d had some hints from Seth that the session would be on faith. I mentioned two questions: 1. Some comments on my dream about Louise Stamp recently, and the series of connections Jane had made, based upon it. [...]

[...] Jane herself wrote up the Stamp dream and its many connections. [...] Jane is also recovering from the tooth challenges very well.)

(This morning, for the first time in well over a year, at the very least, Jane spontaneously decided to do the dishes after breakfast while standing up at the sink.)

(Just before the session tonight I wondered aloud what the present Chapter Thirteen would have been like if Jane hadn’t begun to read, early this month, the anthology containing the long section by Carl Jung, the Swiss psychoanalyst. As I mentioned, Seth suggested Jane lay the book aside on October 19, before she had time to finish it. [...]

(I had two questions which I explained to Jane, without necessarily expecting Seth to go into them tonight.

[...] Nor, I was sure, had Jane.)

(Jane has been taking something of a rest for the last month or so. [...] [Class sessions aren’t numbered.] Occasionally Jane has wondered what effect, if any, the break would have on Seth’s book. [...]

[...] Throughout the time it took Seth-Jane to finish this book. [...] At book’s end Jane just laughed and said: “Well, it looks like we just moved our old neighborhood up here—or at least a version of it....”

This material is indeed “endless” (as Jane said at break). [...]

(Jane had no idea of what Seth would discuss during the session. [...]

[...] Jane was dissociated as usual. [...]

(Jane took a long pause, sitting quite still with her hands raised to her face.)

(On January 23 I mailed to our publisher Jane’s Introduction for Sue Watkins’s Conversations With Seth.

Since holding the last [897th] book session nine days ago, Jane has delivered three remarkable private sessions for Seth.¹ Tonight she was quite at ease, and had been tempted to skip the session and just paint. [...]

I told Jane she needn’t have a session if she wanted to paint, but that if she did go into trance I wouldn’t mind getting something from Seth on the dream I’d had early this morning. [...]

[...] This is mainly Jane’s idea; I imagine that for the most part I’m willing to stick to our regular routine. [...]

(We sat for the session at 9:10, and as the minutes passed Jane grew more and more impatient. [...]

(Finally, at 9:23 Jane said: “Well. [...]

[...] Each morning after breakfast I read a session to Jane. [...]

[...] Jane was also a bit depressed after reading my notes for Monday’s and Tuesday’s sessions, although she already knew their contents.

[...] As Seth, Jane waited, staring at me, her eyes wide and dark, for some moments.)

(Today in our talks Jane and I said a lot of things about our goals, purposes, distractions. Jane talked to several people here today who reminded her that there was always a need to be filled regardless of location, about such things as reincarnation, dreams, etc; this also made us feel that we could work out here, in living arrangements and income, as well as anywhere else. [...]

[...] Our landlord, Rich Elgersma, visited us this evening and told Jane and me about a trailer and lot that he could have acquired not long ago for $1300.00. [...]

(Jane suggested this session abruptly, after 9:40 or so; I thought it would deal with what we had talked about today.)

(Jane, speaking as Seth, hadn’t taken a break since the session began at 9:08. [...]

[...] Jane, still in trance, sat quietly for a short time. [...]

[...] “Wow — am I out… I can’t get my eyes open,” Jane said, trying to do just that. [...]

[...] Before the session, Jane told me now, she’d known “that Seth would talk about some of that stuff.” [...] Jane added that “you get a deeper subjective flow” of material when the delivery lasted without a break for an hour, or thereabouts, instead of for the old half-hour periods.

(A week has passed, and I’m still surprised: Not only has Jane helped me considerably in planning the notes for Psyche, but the other day she switched over to my Introductory Notes for Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality and began organizing them in the same loose way.

[...] Jane knows all too well what I mean, for her own attitudes here follow mine very closely.

[...] Over the weekend Jane began typing my Introductory Notes as she’s put them together for the book. [...]

[...] Break came a little early, after Jane had been in trance for just 42 minutes. [...]
