The animal knows he has the right to exist, and a place in the fabric of nature. [...]

[...] This he did do, though often approaching the same topic or impression in new language. [...]

[...] He will most likely have several other dreams of this nature within a short period of time.

[...] He was shown a multidimensional diagram of reality as it exists in terms of the spacious present, and in terms of qualities that represent dimensional points.

[...] He was drunk the night I spoke to him in a stinking stall outside of Jerusalem. It was he who told me about the symbol of the eye. He also told me that the man, Christ, was kidnapped by the Essenes. [...] Nor at the time he told me did I know who Christ was.

(It can be seen from the above paragraphs that Seth shifts his physical location from Rome to Judaea without saying just how or when he did so. [...]

[...] “I know what Seth’s got planned, but I don’t know how he’s going to go about it.

(“He’s going to let Seth Two come through.”

[...] He wants to talk to her later this week in connection with a cover story he is to write about Richard Bach. [...]

Other means would seem closed to him because of various personal beliefs that would form a vacuum in his experience — that is, he would see no other way, perhaps, to achieve the same end. [...]

He spoke to his subconscious therefore as a partner and an equal, which indeed it is. [...] Nor after stating his case did he then badger the subconscious.

[...] Today she had no anesthetic of any kind, and in addition her dentist reported he was able to do a much more thorough job.

[...] The traveling involves merely a change of focus, both on my part and somewhat on Ruburt’s part, for he is far from inactive, far from being a passive receiver.

[...] In times of drought he would dream of the location of water. In times of famine he would dream of the location of food. [...] He would not waste time in the trial-and-error procedures that you now take for granted. [...]

[...] And we will see how this applies to your attitudes toward specieshood, and man’s relationship with other conscious entities and the planet he shares with them.

In those early times all species shared their dreams in a way that is now quite unconscious for your kind, so that in dreams man inquired of the animals also—long before he learned to follow the animal tracks, for example. [...]

[...] I don’t remember what he said that well, but I just felt that terrific conviction. [...]

We may not be able to pin Seth — as that energy personality essence calls himself — down to one physical race, but he is a Sumari: “And a very high lieutenant indeed, I will have you know,” he told us with much humor in his first session on the Sumari family of consciousness, the 598th for November 24, 1971. A month later he offered more insights on his own reality — the kind of information we’re always interested in acquiring (as I wrote in Note 7 for the 733rd session). [...]

[...] Seth’s there, but he doesn’t quite make it through….”

In a way, however, Seth may do Jane and me something of an injustice when he remarks, for instance, that the Sumari “don’t hang around to cut the grass….” [...]

[...] (I underlined Seth’s phrase above because I think that in it he expressed an important, creative aspect of his reality.)

(Certainly we hope that as he continues with Mass Events Seth will comment extensively on Three Mile Island, just as he’s in the process of doing about Jonestown. [...]

[...] They act as symbols of inner reality, so it’s only natural that whether he’s aware of it or not, man perceives objects in such a fashion that they also stand for symbols that first originate in his dreams.

[...] Man has always considered himself, in your terms, as set apart from nature, so he must feel set apart from nature’s power — and there must be a great division in his dreams between the two. [...]

(“I remember he — Seth — even helped me out with stuff on the Christ drama in there,” Jane said. [...]

[...] His creative abilities were growing and developing, his concepts enlarging, but he was for some time so convinced of science’s viewpoint that the ideas of the Sinful Self were looked upon as unworthy and superstitious. He was allied with rationalism instead. [...]

[...] When Ruburt left that system intellectually some of the old bonding power remained, the emotional glue, but he no longer believed in the indulgences, the sacraments and so forth, so the Sinful Self was left fairly isolated, still believing to some extent that to “be good” it must be bad, but without the releases of guilt once provided by churchly help and belief. [...]

[...] Your help has also been of great value, for it showed of course that he was not being abandoned, for one thing. [...]

[...] You think of your son as he is related to you. You think of Ruburt as he is related to you. [...]

[...] He has access to no more energy than you each possess! [...]

(What Seth said was repeated to Jane—ending with the fact that he would be here for a “social time.”)

(Brad then asked if he would like brandy.)

[...] In that universe the individual has little hope for he will return to the nonexistence that his random physical creation came from. [...] And the individual has no control over his destiny for it can be swept aside at any point by random fate over which he has no recourse. [...]

[...] When you realize you are free, he will not bother you and you will not feel the need to be hunted. He is, in your terms, a screwed-up human being, as you are, with his own problems. [...]

[...] He can use your courage also, and you need to taste it yourself. [...]

[...] He is hunting you because you are hunting yourself. [...]

[...] The material on the preceding page is about as definite as he has yet been on what actually transpired there. He has also stated that he will have much fun with Jane and me as he reveals those existences to us. [...]

[...] He has felt guilty over the thought of taking any space from you, and the guilt made him feel resentful.

[...] Not resentment at you, Joseph, but resentment because he felt guilty for not being satisfied. [...]

[...] Although our house is separated from it by quite an expanse of lawn, our new neighbor is quite obvious as he walks back and forth before his picture window in his undershirt. [...]

[...] Then Jane read her notes on strands of consciousness, which — I can add later — also found their way into Chapter 12 of Politics. Seth soon returned in class with the following comments; he referred to Jane’s ideas mainly, yet as he talked I began to understand my experience with my father and his after-death situation as I perceived it.

[...] Or maybe he’ll talk about what I got on your mother the other day, or my strands-of-consciousness stuff for Psychic Politics.”

[...] He is also connected with any ant in the backyard in the same way. [...]

His [Ruburt’s] students are important, for as he is translating from the library, they are also translating.

[...] He came to get his rope out of the fireplace chimney—our family of raccoons is still there, evidently immune to the temptations offered by the rope. [...]

[...] Ruburt will probably begin to experience the refreshment I mentioned, and relaxation, more and more, but it was also important that he be aware of the subjective state that had been causing the difficulty. [...]

[...] In the session he also touched upon several other points I’d raised very recently, including the nature of Jane’s symptoms. [...]

([We checked notes after next break.] When personality compared physical reality with children playing with [physical] blocks, he made a remark about a giant peering through the window at the child’s play; and... [...]

[...] Oh; and earlier, Seth came back through and helped me “down”; but this last time he didn’t and I couldn’t seem to “find him.”

[...] If a psychologist wants to say simply: Hallucination, then he would have to admit it was hardly a random thing; but well directed, to a point and for a purpose. [...]

[...] Waking up now, he strolled over to Jane as she sat in her rocker speaking for Seth. He crouched, preparing to spring up into her lap. I called him; whereupon he chose to curl up beside me on the couch instead.

[...] “Oh, he’s got them stacked up to here,” and Jane patted the top of her head.

(A note pertaining to the material given just before break: In Chapter Nineteen Seth deals with reincarnation in a general sense, but he’s said little in this book about his psychic “connections” with Jane and me. [...]

My dreaming self

He switched lights on as he passed.

Now take a brief break — and (humorously) tell Ruburt he will be amazed with the organization of this book.

[...] He closed out the session at 11:43 P.M. with this line about the questions I had waiting for him: “I bid you a fond good evening — and I know when your material will fit.” [...]

“I thought you knew.

[...] The house and the grounds will allow you to pick up on old feelings that he had discarded, renewing to some extent a “fresh air” image that he once found natural.

4. Seth’s material here reminded me of a remark he made in the 504th session, which is presented in the Appendix of The Seth Material; he was discussing the perceptions of the fetus as mediated by electromagnetic energy (EE) units: “Cells are not just responsive to light because this is the order of things, but because an emotional desire to perceive light is present.”
