“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

As far as I can see, I’ve been living with two sets of “facts” for some years. The old established explanations had faltered, and finally seemed almost incomprehensible, while the new explanations of Seth seemed beyond my reach, at least in certain areas—areas that were vital to physical and psychic peace. The same processes appeared in my husband Rob’s life, of course, as our lives seemed to impinge into the area of man’s greatest hopes, and into the opposite area of his greatest fears.

In later years it’s become impossible for me to close my eyes to the multiple pressing differences that exist between Seth’s explanation of the nature of reality, and of our own private experience of it. In this book, Dreams, “Evolution,” and Value Fulfillment, for example, Seth portrays us as a vibrant, well-intended species—a physically attuned kind of consciousness beautifully tailored by our own cosmic ingredients to live lives of productivity, of spiritual and physical enjoyments, with each individual life in charge of its own fate and adding to the potentials of all other life as well.

There was no doubt that we’d been reading ourselves “wrong.” There was no doubt as far as I was concerned that every one of our standard explanations for life (pause) were relatively useless now, regardless of how much they might have helped or hindered us in the past.

[...] (Pause.) Do you want an explanation concerning the sepia episode, or do you want, now, some material concerning the entity and time?

(I said this because I feared the sepia explanation might be a lengthy one. [...]

Now behind that simple explanation, you see, there are many subjects that we have not as yet embarked upon. [...]

[...] We must use it for our explanations, but nontime comes far closest to the reality.

[...] He promised a letter of explanation which still hasn’t arrived as of this session. [...]

[...] When I saw who was at the door I had visions of long complicated explanations, but the self-hypnosis explanation appeared to satisfy them. [...]

[...] This certainly was no lie, and the Taylors seemed to accept the explanation. [...]

The fact remains that much basic material should be comprehended in order for us to continue in the line of suitable explanations. [...]

[...] I am making an attempt here this evening, since we have three present, to give a very brief, and I am afraid inadequate explanation, that will however serve as a basis so that these three, at least, will be able to have some sort of a standing ground for other discussions.

My thought here was merely that in perhaps four or five sessions we could deliver a basic, if not thoroughly adequate, explanation that would then serve as a basis for those who attended the four or five sessions, so that any problems could then be discussed in such a manner that the witnesses would be familiar with basic precepts and terminology.

(Toward the end of the session, I was in an emotional turmoil, still in trance and for this Barb told me at the time she had no explanation. [...]

I am coming through now simply to give you this explanation. [...]

[...] And yet, I added, because of the very nature of the Seth material, I’m also bound to think that beneath that simplified explanation there are “deeper” connections—in which the television program, her reactions to it, John’s appearance, and tonight’s session are all related. [...]

I will indeed use an explanation of a particular instance to add to your general knowledge. [...]

You will need perhaps to reread your material on the spacious present, since our explanation here will be necessarily in terms of sequence of events, when as you know in the spacious present events are actually simultaneous. [...]

[...] This is complicated to explain, and yet an explanation is sorely needed, for telepathy operates mainly when similarities and attractions are set up, when like attracts like; and not, as it would seem, when as it appears one alien or separate identity is connected with another.

[...] This is not an explanation for all unpleasant dreams by any means, yet it is a reminder that not all such events are neurotic or indicative of future physical problems.

Seth’s explanation of the York Beach affair made intuitive sense to us. [...] Or was the explanation psychologically and symbolically valid, but practically a lot of nonsense?

[...] Some were answered in following sessions, and this explanation from a session some three years later is particularly interesting:

In such a manner a simplicity is given which is helpful in explanations, but it must be kept in mind that all these explanations are extremely simplified. [...]

It is as if the physical elements themselves retain, in your terms, the memory of all the images that they have ever been a part of; and this is a simplified explanation of what indeed does occur. [...]

[...] We would prefer that you not think of any given entire entity in terms of a physical structure, though we have ourselves used the term structure to make explanations simpler, and will probably do so again.

[...] Nevertheless our last session, with its simplified explanation of development in terms that you can understand, should lead you to realize that because of the parallel development of the dream universe with the physical universe, the study of the dream universe will help you comprehend the basic inwardness behind the physical world that you inhabit.

[...] The dream universe, for the purposes of our explanation, is a specific one. [...]

[...] Remember last session’s explanation of mental enclosures, composed of inward, individualized, aware energy, materializing itself in physical form, and at a particular point closing off and becoming more or less a closed system.

[...] Nothing wrong with that of course but we’re still in the same arena only our explanations are better than official ones. [...]
