(A note added the next morning: I was especially pleased to hear Seth talk of redemption, for that’s one of the main themes I tried to explore in the essays for Dreams—redemption on many levels, even though we may not grasp what’s transpiring on a number of those levels. [...]

MONDAY, APRIL 5, 1982

[...] I said that the spectacular results obtained had seemed to come straight out of Framework 2. We also discussed the long essay on early man in Time for November 7, and I remarked that I’d like to ask Seth some questions about the state of our present “knowledge” about our heritage.

[...] Ruburt’s remarks in his essay on love apply here, in regard to its specific nature. [...]

[...] To our considerable surprise, much in the essays has turned out to be not what one might expect, and Jane disagrees with a number of points therein. [...]

SUNDAY, APRIL 18, 1982

[...] [In the first essay I wrote that according to her doctor Jane’s thyroid gland has ceased functioning, and that she has to take a substitute hormone daily for the rest of her life. [...]

[...] As Jane had dictated to me in her own session for April 1—the first one presented in these essays—during those early weeks of 1982 her walking, writing, and hearing began to deteriorate markedly. [...]

FRIDAY, APRIL 16, 1982

[...] She’d done some excellent notes for her third essay for her book of poetry today, though she hadn’t worked at it as much as in other recent days. [...]

(Recently Jane had been reading an essay in which entropy, the mathematical measure of unavailable energy in a thermodynamic system, was discussed. [...]

[...] In a couple of essays I discussed, and asked questions about, the roles played by the 200 million to 500 million sperm that don’t make contact with the female egg at the time of conception. [...]

[...] She’s “real pleased” with her progress on the poetry and essays for If We Live Again.

(Seth’s reference to her material on plants concerned some short humorous essays she’d started writing for her own amusement a couple of days ago, in response to some new ideas. [...]

[...] Actually, we’ve been quite aware of the potential of such an idea ever since Seth began that material a year ago.³ After supper this evening we went over the loose-leaf notebook of information Jane has accumulated for The Magical Approach to Reality: A Seth Book, and discussed how she could follow her outline in putting all of that material—on our dreams, psychic events and insights, her poetry and our essays—together with Seth’s private sessions on the magical approach.
