I have been biding my time, seeking for the most auspicious moment in which to speak to you, and to announce my presence—for I am here in these classes, as indeed Ruburt knows that I am. [...]
[...] Unfortunately taking advantage instead of the fortunes made available to those in ruling classes throughout the ages. [...]
ESP CLASS SESSION, FEBRUARY 8, 1968
9:25 PM THURSDAY
In class yesterday evening, Seth first came through with some very earthy material that’s presented as Appendix 24. Then Jane read her notes on strands of consciousness, which — I can add later — also found their way into Chapter 12 of Politics. Seth soon returned in class with the following comments; he referred to Jane’s ideas mainly, yet as he talked I began to understand my experience with my father and his after-death situation as I perceived it.
[...] That episode had upset me to some degree, but Jane’s discussion of the subject in Politics, plus a few comments Seth made in ESP class last night, helped me put the affair in a more objective light.
(Seth’s reference to the members of ESP class concerned the part many of them have begun playing in helping us answer the mail. [...]
[...] Seth’s explanations in ESP class last night and in this evening’s session helped clear my mind considerably, though: According to him, consciousness has no difficulty in making such alliances while maintaining continuity of identity, though its vast abilities are certainly almost impossible for us to grasp.
[...] We disliked interrupting our creative rhythms in that fashion, although in the meantime Jane kept ESP class going as usual, coming through as Seth and as Sumari within that context. [...]
[...] The first person I talked to was our friend Sue Watkins, who has attended ESP class almost from the time Jane started it in 1967. [...]
[...] Grinning, she proceeded to confound me further by describing the double dreams of another class member — since, obviously, the individual in question had also had certain dream adventures that Jane and I didn’t know about. [...]
There is a correlation here with something Ruburt said in [ESP] class last evening. [...]
([Class Member:] “Would we necessarily, in looking out of all these windows, see a visualization of another channel? [...]
([Class Member:] “You might, instead, sense or feel something?”)
([Class Member:] “Are there any overlappings of these personalities? [...]
ESP CLASS SESSION, OCTOBER 14, 1969
TUESDAY
(Last night in ESP class Jane delivered a session that was long, forceful, dramatic, and humorous. [...]
(5. To class members: “You are yourself. [...]
[...] It didn’t take long: Out of those very interesting ideas he’d mentioned in class last night, Seth ended up discussing the one I’ve noted as point 5.
5. Point 5 at the start of this session contains my note that later I added to Appendix 18 a few of the comments Seth made in last night’s ESP class, concerning his connections with Jane. [...]
[...] It is imperative that Ruburt throw considerable energy into his idea for classes; whether in writing or in psychic matters, that all available, practically available time and effort be given here to such an endeavor; that it not be adopted halfheartedly.
[...] He will quite possibly end up finally with other quarters for classes.
—and I am looking forward to the monthly class whenever it begins.
(Sue did attend class last Tuesday evening, however, arriving just in time before it began to read the transcript for the 732nd session. Then during class she handed me a note that I’ll paraphrase a bit here: “In a session on Sumari I witnessed in 1971 or early 1972 — I picked up a family-of-consciousness name, and Seth said it was ‘Grunaargh.’ It wasn’t on the list given last month.”
(Sue’s note intrigued me anew: After class I promised her that not only would I search our files about Grunaargh, but that with Seth’s help Jane and I would eventually get more information on that family, and present it somewhere in the notes for “Unknown” Reality. [...] Sue had picked up on the Grunaargh1 during the 598th session, which she’d recorded for me the evening after Jane had made the whole Sumari breakthrough in class, on November 23, 1971.
[...] Jane did hold ESP class on Tuesday night, February 11, though.
(Now these notes hark back to the end of the 732nd session, when I wrote a paragraph concerning Sue Watkins, our longtime friend who attends class as often as she can these days from the small town where she now lives, some 35 miles north of Elmira. [...]
[...] I was holding one of my twice weekly ESP classes. [...] The lights were normally lit in my living room where classes are held. [...]
This class was composed of college girls. They had read my first book, knew about Seth, and had attended a few classes, but they had never witnessed a Seth session. [...]
In a manner of speaking, they are indeed learning centers.4 Many people have dreams in which they are attending classes, for example, in another kind of reality. [...]
[...] He need have no fears now over his classes, as the membership will be maintained. If students do drop out they will be replaced, for his energies are being properly, and you may tell him, most effectively used, in the classes themselves.
(Apropos of this question, in ESP class eight days later Seth had this to say about Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution:
(A class member: “Every bit of matter already has consciousness?”
Now I have come through in Ruburt’s classes rather frequently of late, and this has been to his advantage. [...]
[...] It seemed they always could use a session, and I wondered if Jane had the energy for the extra demands; and to what use the class sessions would be put.
[...] The classes however will be a means of Ruburt developing his abilities, and of helping others, for the development of these abilities is meant to help others.
[...] In many cases it is the son and daughter of the upper middle-classes, or the well-to-do, who run into such life-endangering dilemmas. [...]
[...] On the other hand, some upper-middle-class families stress competition to such a degree that it seems to the children that they are only valued for their achievements, rather than being loved for simply being the people they are.
The class sessions incidentally, served to keep the spontaneity available, for the spontaneity of our own sessions suffers when your own relationship is less than the both of you accept. [...] So that that flow does not dry up when it does not operate as fully as it ordinarily can in our own sessions, then it shoots up and appears in class sessions, as a precaution and simply because the fountainhead as such will not dry up, but seeks its natural release. For this reason to some extent you have distrusted the class sessions, feeling that the strong personal basis of the sessions with you and Ruburt was escaping you.
Your before-class activities were decided upon because you knew they could not last too long. [...]
[...] So when I say to you let your classes thrill with quality, it is up to you to discover what quality means to you. And when I say to each of you, classes or no, that your lives be lives of quality, of beauty and of truth, I am not about to define beauty or truth for you. [...]
(Some members of Jane’s “old” ESP class gathered at the hill house of Jane and Rob in Elmira, New York.
[...] And when each person feels and releases their own creativity, (to Sue) there will be no need for books about Seth classes, but now there is such a need.
