As you know, camouflage elements are formed from the vital energy, which itself forms of itself all dimensions and all realities. It exists within all camouflage, since the camouflage itself is merely the form that is adopted. [...]

The whole self as you know has its existence in uncamouflaged energy, and is therefore capable of the assimilation of knowledge in so far as it can, if it chooses, be basically unaffiliated to any one camouflage dimension or perspective. In actual practice this takes a supreme development, but even for general purposes the inner self retains a freedom from camouflage perspectives, and is aware in varying degrees of other perspectives, and of its existence outside of them.

[...] The dream world is more closely connected with uncamouflaged experience in the spacious present, but it still is in a camouflage perspective, dealing with recognizable projections of material reality.

When it is understood that space and time are both camouflages, and that your cause and effect theory is a result of a continuity theory that no longer makes sense, then your scientists will recognize the impossibility of trying to decipher basic reality with camouflage instruments, and vehicles, that of themselves produce distortive theories, and only serve to probe further into a camouflage pattern.

[...] In the light trance state, the inner self is free from the camouflage nature of your plane, and the truly humorous aspect is this: Only by freeing yourself from your own camouflage universe can you see it clearly, understand it for what it is, and actually learn to use it for mankind’s best advantage.

Your scientists’ instruments are themselves distortive, and will only allow you to probe further into camouflage. What you need are tools and instruments that are free from camouflage. [...]

In prehistoric times mankind evolved the ego and self-consciousness to help him deal with the camouflage patterns that he had created. Your physical time of seasons and tides, and night and day, is to me one of your most delightful camouflages, and if Ruburt will excuse my clumsy attempt at being poetical, I will say that physical time is like a delightful flowing gown that clothes psychological time with many different colors and materials and designs. It is a most faithful reproduction of psychological time, and one of your truest camouflages.

[...] When we really progress in our sessions, you will have results that are as real as the outer camouflages that you take for granted.

Once more: The undifferentiated layers are composed of the vitality that forms the camouflage of all systems. Such an area is not really a thing in itself, but a portion of vitality that contains no camouflage, and is therefore unrecognizable to those within any given system. You are in touch with infinity in such areas, since it is only camouflage that gives you the conception of time. [...]

[...] They act as boundaries, even while they represent the basic stuff of which all camouflage is composed. (Without the camouflage, you would perceive nothing with the physical senses.)

The action is only apparent or visible in a particular field when it adopts the camouflage coloration of the field in question. [...] The camouflage distortion is like the effect that water reflections have upon the image that falls across the water.

The fact is, that even in your own universe all of your camouflage forms are not perceived by any one species, your own included. At best your scientists will only discover more of these camouflage patterns, but the entire system will simply not be perceived by any one species, and you will never perceive camouflage patterns outside of your own patterns. Now, although your space vehicles are not as apparently connected to the ground, they are indeed connected to the ground of your camouflage patterns in a most meaningful manner, since they are themselves camouflage. [...]

The inhabitants see only the camouflage. They then accept this particular camouflage as a definite rule of nature, never realizing that just beyond their eyesight and just beyond all their outer senses, this familiar tamed animal of a law changes appearance completely.

The barriers are yours. The barriers are camouflage. It is ridiculous to develop camouflage vehicles to deal with camouflage space, when all that is necessary is that you realize that camouflage is camouflage. [...]

[...] This material is more valid than any material possible on your plane, but it is nevertheless to some degree conditioned by the camouflage attributes of the plane.

And since you are not, you do not have the peculiar sets of camouflage perceptors necessary to experience existence within them. [...] You simply do not have the camouflage equipment to perceive them.

[...] In other words, on an unconscious level you here manipulate in another plane of existence entirely, one in which your conscious camouflage ego may not enter.

3. In Note 2 for Session 688, I quoted Seth briefly on the meaning he attached to the word “camouflage” (in 1970). [...]

Basic nonphysical reality, he told us then, was “like some chameleon-like animal, constantly camouflaging its true appearance by taking on the outward manifestations of each neighboring forest territory [or world] …” And so this primal vitality expressed itself physically in our environment.

“Camouflage” became a familiar word to us in those early sessions, and we thought it an excellent one for Seth’s purposes — but rather oddly, except for using it once in a while in recent years, he’s largely dropped it from his vocabulary.

[...] Action approximates as nearly as possible that portion of inner vitality or energy which cannot be completely materialized within any camouflage, within any plane. [...] But is effects upon camouflage can often be perceived.

Since any materialization is in effect a mediation between what we may call an ideal which is, by nature, of itself not materialized, and a practical working perceivable symbol of the ideal, each materialization must be composed of some camouflage elements. [...]

[...] It arises from within the inner vitality of which all camouflage is composed. [...]

The personality does indeed turn its focus into another field of reality, and does desert the camouflage image that it maintained. However, some trace of that personality remains in that camouflage reality, quite literally, as what you might call a ghost image.

[...] Each exists to some extent where the other is, and yet the camouflage structures make it necessary for those within any given system to recognize the certain characteristics, only, of the one in which focus is to be maintained.

[...] When this occurs the primary physical construction, the camouflage material, loses its power. [...]

[...] The basic universe beneath all camouflage does not have an existence in space at all, as you envision it. Space is a camouflage … This tinge of time is an attribute of the physical camouflage form only, and even then the relationship between time and ideas, and time and dreams, is a nebulous one … although in some instances parts of the inner universe may be glimpsed from the camouflage perspective of time; only, however, a small portion.

Now, the so-called laws of your camouflage physical universe do not apply to the inner universe. They do not even apply to other camouflage planes. However, the laws of the inner universe apply to all camouflage realities. Some of these basic laws have counterparts known and accepted in various camouflage realities. [...]

[...] I am telling you that the basic universe exists behind all camouflage universes in the same manner, and taking up no space, that the mind exists behind the brain. The brain is a camouflage pattern. [...] Your camouflage universe, on the other hand, takes up space and exists in time.

[...] Manipulation of camouflage patterns is to be expected, and furthermore is desirable. However, many native societies appreciate the fact of camouflage patterns, and retain the ability to separate the whole self from camouflage.

[...] They are in some respects evolutionary developments, being the end portions of the inner senses transformed to some degree, to permit manipulation of camouflage pattern. Before the conscious ego evolved, emotion served well as necessary stimuli to action in the camouflage environment. [...]

[...] However, data received by the inner senses will have its own discernible impact upon the personality receiving it, and this impact is as strong as any impact caused by camouflage stimuli.

[...] They may not be perceived as physical objects, but as reality that conforms to the particular camouflage structure within.

Thoughts as offspring have a strong effect in all systems, and directly change the camouflage material of any system.

[...] The thought also exists in other systems, being materialized according to other camouflage patterns, and entirely different possibilities arising because of the differences.

In some instances the physical body stays in its original location, and the personality-essence moves through camouflage space and time. That is, the personality-essence, realizing that space and time are merely camouflages, is therefore free to behave accordingly.

[...] Another method is somewhat more complicated and involves a diffusion of energies, a partially-visible secondary camouflage body appearing in a new location, while the original body remains in its original position.

The reason that these things are done so infrequently is because the personality-essence finds itself so unable to give up belief in camouflage time and space. [...]

Now at times I will be using the term “camouflage,” referring to the physical world to which the outer ego relates, for physical form is one of the camouflages that reality adopts. The camouflage is real, and yet there is a much greater reality within it — the vitality that gave it form. Your physical senses then allow you to perceive this camouflage, for they are attuned to it in a highly specialized manner. [...]
