(We did not know which personality would speak this evening, nor what subjects would be covered. We sat for the session as usual at 9 PM. As it developed Seth spoke the entire evening, in a voice about as usual, with pauses, eyes open often.)

The consequences however for the nation and the world would be far more disastrous had these hates and aggressions not found these therapeutic, almost surgical, unfortunately necessary, outlets.

(Note that here Seth implies that Senator Kennedy, who was alive at the time of this session, would die. In fact the Senator did die the next morning, close to 5 AM, EDT.)

The point would not be nearly as clearly made, you see, were the victim a man giving himself to crime. He must be in one way or another a symbol of those idealized qualities that the individual and the massed natives of the land give lip service to. These ideals are highly vital and important. The strength of the inner unrecognized hatred and aggression can be disastrous, and yet it works for the service of the ideal.

They provide crisis points. Your nation, because of its greatness and ideals, must judge itself accordingly against those ideals. It therefore cannot afford to judge itself against others, find itself superior, and rest. Such murders would have been taken for granted in some other nations. Those who point the finger now however know, in one respect, that they have the right to do so since you are the ones who have set forth the ideals of peace and brotherhood. It is against these, then, that you must judge yourself.

(9:50. Jane said that just before the session began, she had a “flash” to the effect that another Kennedy was to be involved in a tragedy, or that the present situation involving Senator Kennedy would evolve into another tragedy.

(During break I wondered aloud if Seth had to communicate with his entity before getting permission to speak. I did not really mean to use the word permission, meaning instead whether there had to be any sort of understanding or agreement between the two personalities as to who would hold the session, or at least begin it. The funny consequences are apparent when Jane resumes as Seth at 10:00.)

[... 6 paragraphs ...]

Without these murders the nation would not know what was wrong with itself. The murders are symptoms, but without symptoms the patient will not realize that anything is wrong with the inner self.

I believe Percy will have some part to play, either at the convention or perhaps in the lineup of a new government. When the first brother, or rather President Kennedy died, then it was known that this present situation would occur, and Bob Kennedy knew this very nearly at a conscious level.

He courted or adopted his dead brother’s characteristics and gestures not because, as it was thought, he wanted to bank upon his prestige, but because he had an inner compulsion to do so, knowing the events that would occur.

C A C H E (spelled out) and more money to come; but it was known in advance it would not be delivered. N I. (Spelled.) The woman in the background mentioned earlier. The three at the meeting strongly connected with another group of seven men. (Pause.) An inner portion of an organization. And unclear here: the organization is not a front organization, yet it is not what it seems to be either.

The Arab-Jew conflict more involved than it appears. Possibly some knowledge on the part of the Jews, not specific maybe, but suspected, that this would happen, and a political realization of its consequences—beneficial to the Jews, that prevented warnings. Is that clear?

Now, we will end the session, and you may turn on your monster screen, and watch for developments. There were several other issues I would have touched upon, and there is information concerning the entire family that you would find interesting.

I thought I would brighten up your living room, even though the evening’s occasion was not pleasant.
