I am not condoning, you understand, the situation. The inner hate and aggression has not been recognized by the nation in the past. A holier-than-thou attitude developed into a spiritual hypocrisy. A portion of this was the result of ideals that could not be lived up to in practical terms—an overidealization. This does not mean that good intentions caused these situations.

(Note that here Seth implies that Senator Kennedy, who was alive at the time of this session, would die. In fact the Senator did die the next morning, close to 5 AM, EDT.)

[... 4 paragraphs ...]

If ideals are merely mouthed, and the idea of peace not seriously strived for, then this is an inferior state, even if there is no war. These men are showing the nation the difference between ideals and actions. Their deaths point the way and will give the impetus that was sorely needed.

(9:50. Jane said that just before the session began, she had a “flash” to the effect that another Kennedy was to be involved in a tragedy, or that the present situation involving Senator Kennedy would evolve into another tragedy.

[... 8 paragraphs ...]

Without these murders the nation would not know what was wrong with itself. The murders are symptoms, but without symptoms the patient will not realize that anything is wrong with the inner self.

[... 1 paragraph ...]

Ruburt’s earlier thought was correct, granting probabilities at this time.

I believe Percy will have some part to play, either at the convention or perhaps in the lineup of a new government. When the first brother, or rather President Kennedy died, then it was known that this present situation would occur, and Bob Kennedy knew this very nearly at a conscious level.

He courted or adopted his dead brother’s characteristics and gestures not because, as it was thought, he wanted to bank upon his prestige, but because he had an inner compulsion to do so, knowing the events that would occur.

(10:34. Our cat had become caught behind a venetian blind, and was making a racket trying to get free. I freed him then deposited him behind a closed door while Jane sat waiting, eyes closed.)

[... 3 paragraphs ...]

(This session was held on June 5, the evening of the same day that Senator Kennedy was shot. Damage to the rear portion of the brain, the cerebellum, had been announced after the operation attempting to save Senator Kennedy’s life.

[... 6 paragraphs ...]

(There is a bar in Elmira, The Dahlia. Jane wondered after the session if this was used as an associative link.)

[... 6 paragraphs ...]

C A C H E (spelled out) and more money to come; but it was known in advance it would not be delivered. N I. (Spelled.) The woman in the background mentioned earlier. The three at the meeting strongly connected with another group of seven men. (Pause.) An inner portion of an organization. And unclear here: the organization is not a front organization, yet it is not what it seems to be either.

[... 2 paragraphs ...]

(During subsequent days there was some talk about this sort of possibility; especially was the Arab-Jewish conflict brought into the picture, at least by implication. Time will reveal whether there is more specific application of this data,, and that immediately following.)

I do not know whether the specific instance was known, but its likelihood is suspected (pause), and in some way some Jewish money may have been involved though not necessarily the money paid to the prisoner.

[... 1 paragraph ...]

(After this session we learned that the suspect’s brother, Adele, was questioned by police. Adele is 35 and was arrested a few months ago. A connection?)

[... 8 paragraphs ...]

I thought I would brighten up your living room, even though the evening’s occasion was not pleasant.

The man Ruburt thinks of with the funny eyes is a fairly good portrait of the artist I told you of. He always wore a cap, however. (Long pause; slower pace, eyes closed.) It is as he was in a Belgium life.

(Here Seth refers to a portrait I am working on without a model, of a bald man with rather young features. He is fully bald, and as I painted it I wondered why he was bald. See the 401st and 402nd sessions. Seth then gave the artist’s name as Van Elver, saying he was from Norway or Denmark and that he was giving Seth painting data to be passed along to me.)

(I called Jane’s name three times. She acknowledged faintly, without moving, but in five minutes her eyes were open. I had not touched her while calling her name, forgetting that this was the full procedure suggested by Seth in such instances. Jane wanted me to touch her, she now said, but was unable to tell me to.

(After Seth withdrew, she said, the energy was still around her and she didn’t know how to get out of it. She needed the touch for physical reassurance. The state, she said, was like being lost in work, but much deeper than this.
