I have endeavored to study rather thoroughly the condition of the other male present in the room, yourself excluded, Joseph, because we find here an almost classic example of the manner in which the individual subconsciously creates physical matter, and the manner in which the psychological and psychic problems of the individual conspire so that the organic perfection becomes disturbed.

We have here this evening, also, Marleno, who when she arrived was troubled with a stiff neck. Now here we see a temporary distortion, not an organic one. You can see however how such a temporary distortion could become, under certain conditions (that do not operate in your case) permanent.

You will begin to starve the ulcer of its energy. The manner in which the subconscious translates energy into construction of physical matter, again, has been covered in our sessions previously. However it is imperative that the idea be understood thoroughly, for here we have no vague and nebulous theory indeed, but a most practical and definite explanation of the manner in which you yourselves construct not only your own physical image, but indeed your own physical environment.

I will here repeat an old definition of many sessions back: Consciousness is the direction in which the self looks.

As you create physical matter constantly without knowing that you do so, so also you create constantly a dream universe, and this dream universe is as individual as your environment in the physical world. There is also a chemical reaction here, for without dreaming the physical organism could not exist.

The location does not exist within your physical system, but the dream location is a reality. It is a superimposed value which you have created, and which is valid and vivid. A dream unfolds. Miles may appear before your inner vision. Are then these miles contained within your head? Are these miles contained within the small skull? Obviously not. But here we are closer to that reality which is beyond space as you know it.

You may in a dream experience two or three hours in a flash of physical time. You have not aged two or three hours. The experience of space and time within the dream universe comes very close to the pure expression of the inner self. For here, free from the ego, the self is relieved of the necessity of constructing ideas into physical reality.

It constructs ideas instead within another electrical system. Yet because of the nature of the personality, no dream exists in a vacuum, and every dream is recorded by the inner self. I am making an attempt here this evening, since we have three present, to give a very brief, and I am afraid inadequate explanation, that will however serve as a basis so that these three, at least, will be able to have some sort of a standing ground for other discussions.

(Break at 9:55. Jane was again well dissociated. She said she felt as though the Seth voice was pulling her along. Her trance was deep, she felt very free, she said. She remarked that the feeling was similar to the two Father Trainor episodes, of February 11,1965 and May 30,1965; I too had had the thought that there was a similarity here, and thought I detected a hint of a brogue in Jane’s delivery at times. She had exhibited a rather marked brogue during the Father Trainor episodes.

My thought here was merely that in perhaps four or five sessions we could deliver a basic, if not thoroughly adequate, explanation that would then serve as a basis for those who attended the four or five sessions, so that any problems could then be discussed in such a manner that the witnesses would be familiar with basic precepts and terminology.

I was, I was not here suggesting—far be it from me—to suggest that Ruburt give three sessions a week. I would not dare be so presumptuous. I would, literally, shiver in my boots, for he would pursue me with endless protests.

I am merely making suggestions to be of a help. It goes without saying that many explanations I could give, I can’t give in my usual manner, simply because the witnesses do not have a familiarity with our material. A basic requirement here is a thorough understanding of the precise manner in which physical matter is constructed.

Nor is the dream itself a chaotic action, but a complicated and unique action by which symbols are chosen with such precise and careful attention that they have meaning to all levels of the inner self, and various levels of the subconscious. Here you will find clues as to many of your own conscious problems. Here with study and attention you will find information concerning your own previous lives, which the ego is not familiar with.

At the furthest or innermost area then, we come to the inner ego, which would then be separated from the outer ego by the buffer of the subconscious. Now it goes without saying that we speak here merely for convenience’s sake, for all these areas are not indeed so neatly divided; but to explain their various purposes we must therefore speak of them in this manner.

(During this next delivery Jane spoke at a somewhat slower rate, at my request. Her eyes were closed for the most part. Here again, as noted on page 89, I would say that Jane spoke in quite a brogue for part of the delivery. This was more pronounced than before, and more than a little reminiscent of the two Father Trainor episodes.

(Seth repeated several times that we wouldn’t regret this burst of psychic energy, or the time involved, because it meant an increase in Jane’s ability to focus energy. The witnesses tonight had been extremely valuable; for different reasons [which he did not go into]. Seth stated that such gatherings increased Jane’s ability to utilize energy on different levels. This ability is still increasing. Seth uses witnesses as “practice” for Jane. Her ability to draw upon others would be very valuable in the “near future.” I believe he implied here that Jane would be speaking before larger groups, perhaps soon, and that possibly many in such groups would be strangers.
