Ruburt’s new clothes are highly important symbolically and practically. He is ready to move. So are you. Again, highly important, because of the symbolic meanings attached, for each of you. You have never really examined your beliefs seriously concerning your objective physical surroundings, and your psychic attitudes. But quite simply they amounted to this:

Give us a moment.... We are going into new areas. You had to have a certain amount of confidence first. Ruburt need have no worries about his book, or about the library. Your financial situation, tell him, is assured. I will give you hints of further developments, and you will have hints of your own. That is the end of the session. Tonight Ruburt can have some important dream material.

It was, however, in a normal savings account, where it drew regular but rather small amounts of interest. [...] Again, the interest on the same amount of money nearly doubles. [...]

Today you changed a bank account over from an ordinary savings account to what you might call a super-account, where the very same amount of money will give you approximately twice as much interest. [...]

All that was involved, as you told Ruburt, was a shuffling of paper from here to there, and a promise to keep the money in the account and not withdraw it for a specific amount of time. [...]

[...] Contrary to most thought on such matters, no one is given a particular amount of talent that must then be used.

[...] When you think in terms of having (in quotes) “a certain amount of ability,” then you become concerned that you use every portion of it, when in greater terms no such “it” exists.

The only way to avoid facing the problem you see was to limit the amount of free energy allotted to the individual, and available en masse. [...] I am suggesting that you devote the same amount of time constructively that you are now spending destructively, and that the new exercises take the place of the old automatically followed negative exercises that you have indeed been faithfully following.

Again, the end does not justify the means — so no amount of war is ever going to produce a meaningful peace.

For reasons too complicated to go into, a larger amount would not be paid off until much later, because the fears that you would have would prevent full utilization of your energies. The psychic freedom and burst of energy that you will experience as a direct result of intimacy with land will be released regardless of the amount of land. [...]

This is quite enough for this evening, since I expect you to take an almost equal amount of time not only to read this session together, but to explore at the same time the ways in which your own self-labels may have added to your own self- disapproval. [...]

(Without necessarily expecting an answer this evening, I asked a question I thought Jane might want to consider if and when she wrote an introduction for this book: Could she dictate the whole book for Seth in, say, a month’s worth of daily sessions, or did she need a certain amount of day-by-day living and experience, over a period of months, perhaps, in order to be able to let the book come through?

(A note: I thought it would be of interest to show, by periodically recording the time, how long Seth takes to deliver a certain amount of finished material for his book.)

[...] At our first discussion, though, Peg told me that a brother-in-law had just come into a tremendous amount of money as a result of lawyers fees, he is a lawyer, and a rich account. [...]

[...] He literally brought a tremendous amount of energy to bear. [...]

(On Tuesday, October 11, Jane put in her first day as a substitute teacher; she later said she was aware of using a great amount of energy.)

[...] The same amount of energy focused in an out-of-body experience would have resulted in some venture indeed. [...]

[...] I do know there’s a certain amount I’m supposed to get through tonight. [...]

Apropos of that “certain amount,” she read me her notes on the subjects she’d felt Seth would cover tonight. [...]

[...] In classical physics, the amount of matter in a given object is measured according to its relation to inertia, which in turn is the tendency of matter to keep moving in the same direction, if moving, or to stay at rest if at rest. [...]

Small amounts of ordinary stimulants, such as coffee or tea, taken before bed when you are already sleepy, have a beneficial effect in stimulating dream activity and aiding dream recall. Too large a serving, of course, could simply waken you, but small amounts taken if you are already drowsy allow you to take your conscious mind into the dream state more readily, where it can act as an observer.

A very small amount of alcohol can also serve. [...]

In Framework 2 the mind affects the physical brain in a more complete and effective manner than usual, and can spark images, thoughts, or correlations that exist in a context outside of the time that is happening in Framework 1. Time happens at a certain regulated rate, then, obviously, in Framework 1. A certain amount of time is needed there to do a certain amount of work, and according to scientific dictates a specific amount of effort is required to perform different kinds of work.

[...] Very little effort, there, comparatively speaking, has an effect here in Framework 1—that is, a small amount of effort in Framework 2 can result in extraordinary work done in Framework 2, and with a foreshortened time effect.

[...] I want him to then stress, this week, all of his good points, and as much as possible to ignore for that amount of time the negative ones.

[...] It would be impossible for you to handle the vast amount of material available, in the context of time as you presently experience it. To operate adequately in your highly specific field (pause), an almost infinite amount of information must be instantly assimilated, probabilities calculated, and certain balances maintained of which you are not even aware.
