(Apropos of the above, I quote briefly from an article in the New York Times for May 9, 1968, written by Walter Sullivan and datelined May 8 from Cambridge, Massachusetts. [...]

[...] Our files contain statements from two brothers in California, for example, asserting that Seth correctly described their home and neighborhood while I spoke for him in Elmira, New York, some three thousand miles away. [...]

[...] During break Jane said she believed it referred to a brother of Maxine’s. The brother is the same approximate age as Jane, and lived in upstate New York near Saratoga; hence Jane got to know the members of Maxine’s family fairly well even though she seldom saw Maxine herself. [...]

In one reality, of course, the work was finished at the Foster Avenue house (in Elmira, New York). In another it was finished in Sayre (Pennsylvania).

(My brother William, who lives in Rochester, New York, is driving down to take mother back home with him for a week or two, on November 9. We received a letter from him to this effect yesterday. [...]
