(For the record: Tam Mossman visited us last Wednesday, October 29. [...] Today Tam notified Jane that Pocket Books had won the bidding—acquiring the rights to the three Sevens for $75,000.)

I told you when Tam was here (last week) that the books would change the nature of physical reality, and they will—to whatever degree as they alter beliefs and lead others into new experiences. [...]

[...] However, this proof doesn’t contain the copy that Tam will prepare for the inside flaps and the back of the jacket.¹)

[...] Because of various delays, Jane is still waiting for news of the book’s official acceptance, even though she knows that Tam and other executives there like it very much. [...]

(A remark she made yesterday probably had helped crystallize my own new determination to do something about what seemed to be a badly eroding situation: She said that Tam had recently told her that Mass Events was due to be published on the 13th—today—with God of Jane due out early in May. [...]

(In the notes preceding the last session I wrote that Jane was to call Tam about the date of publication for Mass Events and God of Jane. She’d called, and Tam was to call back yesterday or today with the information. The expected call came as I finished reading to Jane at breakfast time—but it wasn’t from Tam: Ethel Waters apologized for the fact that now Mass Events has been delayed until May 19, or just possibly only May 4. Mass Events and God of Jane are now due to be published in the same month. [...]

The man at Prentice-Hall (Tam Mossman, an assistant editor), simply overstepped, as you both suspect. [...]

(Late last week Tam Mossman called Jane to tell her that he’s begun work on her contract for the publication of If We Live Again. I wrote Tam this morning, asking questions about what long-range plans Prentice-Hall may have for the 15 books Jane and I have sold to the company. [...] I’ve been curious about that statement ever since, and mentioned it to Jane today in connection with my letter to Tam.

You can tell, Joseph, our Aerofranz (Tam Mossman) that if he needs an outline, I will see that he gets a unique outline.

(Jane and Tam have been discussing her second book for P/Hall; the subject possibly to be on dreams, Seth, and astral projection.

(One of the events we’ve been preparing for is the visit tomorrow of Tam Mossman, Jane’s editor at Prentice-Hall, Inc. [...] Tam will also look at my first rough sketches for Jane’s book of poetry, Dialogues of the Soul and Mortal Self in Time.¹ Then on Wednesday night he’ll witness the scheduled 706th session. If Seth comes through with material for “Unknown” Reality, Tam will be the first “outsider” to sit in on a session for this work. [...]

Therefore his relationship with Tam Mossman was quite valuable to him, for it took a good deal of the unpredictable nature out of free-lance writing; particularly where projects like books were concerned rather than short stories, and particularly in an area that was itself controversial. [...]
