“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Ray Van Over is leaving the Parapsychology Foundation sometime soon to launch his own business, which involves publishing. He was naturally concerned about the success of this venture, in which he was involved with others. Seth told Jane to tell him that the venture should be a successful one. There was some related data here that I did not make notes on. Then Jane, speaking for Seth, gave the initials W C, as those of a person very involved in Ray Van Over’s publishing venture.

(Jane was also encouraged when Ray Van Over told her that many mediums operated in the fashion she contemplated. This new departure was not particularly easy for Jane, and none of us wanted her to overdo it, but it was quite successful. Note also that Seth didn’t make his presence felt, nor was he asked to, until a convivial atmosphere had been established between the three of us present. The same kind of atmosphere had been set that morning at F. Fell’s office.

(Ray Van Over said that this data was “quite correct”, the initials belonging to a person he proceeded to name. I did not write down the full name at the time, and so lost it. Seth also mentioned other initials: a J and a letter toward the end of the alphabet; this was not definite enough.

(This had indeed been a new experience for Jane, and she called it a new state of consciousness for her. She said that she had felt sensations of “freezing cold” at her forehead and a few other parts of her body. She also felt an internal “buzzing” which wasn’t physical, and a sudden desire for urination at the end of the session. She was left with a general feeling of being shaky inside, and this lasted for a while. Jane said she could very easily have gone into a deep trance, and had to work to keep everything in balance—herself, Seth, etc. If memory serves me correctly Ray Van Over said some of the effects she described were effects experienced by other mediums also.

[...] The rays in the eyes were uplifted. Sticks were placed on the ground in those approximate locations as extensions of the rays in the eyes. [...]

[...] And from the pupils, lines came outward so that the pupils appeared to be like a half-seen sun or moon, and the lines like rays. [...]

(On June 27 Jane had received a letter from Tam Mossman at Prentice-Hall, requesting information on Dr. Instream, Dr. Bernard, both psychologists; and on Ray Van Over. [...]

Ray Van Over has scarcely met me. [...]

[...] Today Jane wrote to Gene Bernard and to Ray Van Over re statements. [...]

It may sound very simplistic to tell you that you must have sunny thoughts as well as rays of the physical sun in order to be healthy — but sunny thoughts are as biologically necessary to your well-being as are the rays of the sun that shines in the sky. [...]

[...] Now, when the sun shines and the rays fall from the sun down through your solar system, the sun is not consciously aware of its rays nor of the rooms that these rays may illuminate. [...]

2. As Jane wrote for this note: “We think that the dangers of negative suggestion are as real as the physical ones that are connected with the overuse of X-rays, say. [...]

Seth didn’t mention it in the session tonight, but Jane and I find it extremely interesting that just last week much national publicity was given to the ongoing two-year-old controversy among cancer specialists over whether women — especially those under 50 years of age — should be given routine mammograms (X-ray examinations) in efforts to detect breast cancer in its early stages.

[...] These scientists are on record as stating that such X-raying may cause more breast cancer than it cures. [...]

[...] At the same time, they are subjected to even more X-ray examinations on a regular basis. [...]

[...] They X-rayed my hands but not my knees. [...] But other tests and X-rays revealed that I had sound lungs—in spite of my smoking—a good heart and stomach and other organs. [...]

[...] They only X-rayed my head.

(Jane meant, of course, a CT or computerized tomography scanner, a modern X-ray machine that shows the interior of the body in a series of brilliant cross-sectional images.)

People have been taught to trust X-rays for a picture of what is happening within their bodies, and cautioned not to trust their own feelings. [...]

[...] The rays of the moon in May and/or October, 13 to 15, fall directly above a position in which important artifacts can be found, for there are many artifacts buried within the lake.

[...] It is to be found directly beneath the moon’s rays at a time when Venus is in the ascendancy, and forms on the surface of the lake an acute angle.

I doubt if physicists in the 1920s were concerned about the psychological activity of atoms, molecules, or particles, although it seems that Heisenberg came close to Seth’s idea when he considered the free behavior of an electron emitted by a light ray. [...]

[...] Your body is composed not only of the stuff within it that, say, X-rays or autopsies can reveal, but it also involves profound relationships, alliances and affiliations that nowhere physically show. [...]

[...] Then at close to 10 PM a technician wheeled in a portable X-ray machine to shoot Jane’s chest. [...]

[...] Not that the lungs didn’t look okay via X-rays. [...]

[...] All of this has to do with pulsations of energy and consciousness, and in one way what you think of as your life is the apparent “length” of a light ray seen from another perspective.

(I said she may have to get a medical opinion, but that I felt that if they wanted to X-ray the leg tomorrow, she’d say no. [...]

[...] Jane said that with the above material, she had a feeling almost like a “ray out” in a southern direction—a strong concentration being sent out in a southerly direction. [...]

[...] He should of course remind himself of the excellent results given on the nerve ends (the EKG) and through investigating other portions of the body through X-rays, for example. [...]

[...] He suggested X-rays, however, “just to be on the safe side,” and so her body was treated to a basically unnecessary dose of radiation in the name of preventative medicine.

[...] She and her husband were distraught, she said, and a friend of theirs, Ray Van Over, a parapsychologist in New York, had suggested she call me.

“I’ve only met Ray once,” I said. [...]

[...] “Ray said you were one of the most objective mediums he knew.”

[...] It may seem as a path or a ray of light but follow it with full freedom and confidence. [...]

(Yesterday at the dentist’s I learned through X-ray that I have two bad teeth on the lower right jaw that must be taken out. [...]
