(A note by R.F.B.: The following quotations are from sessions Jane delivered for her trance personality, Seth, just before and during the time she worked with him on Dreams, “Evolution,” and Value Fulfillment. [...]

[...] A study of dreams, for example, would make many of these points clear, yet many scientists consider such work beneath them.

[...] Here is another point: Definite work may be done in a dream, but the physical arms and legs are not tired. [...]

[...] Here, you are working with the mind itself and merely suggesting that it operate in a certain fashion. [...]

[...] Later, in 1967, I started my ESP classes, and my students began their own work in dream recall and experimentation. [...]

[...] Both of them work at my place of employment, Artistic Card Co., in Elmira. [...] The young lady works with me in the art department. [...]

[...] Seth said the reason I am bothered more at home than at work, where I feel remarkably good, is that the house dust in the apartment reminds me of house dust at home, and of my mother, when I was a child.

[...] He told Bill that it would require strict discipline on his part if he worked with computers in such a fashion.

[...] The predictions given in that session 10 months ago are still working out. [...]

[...] I think the good news may not have penetrated my psyche yet, not even as I type these lines at 9:00 p.m. After talking to our lawyer this morning I went back to work on Dreams just as though nothing had happened. [...]

[...] I read her two letters from female scientists in California that, I thought, would cheer her a great deal, since they both stressed the value of her work. [...]

[...] This symbol explains the workings of the probable system, all possible variations being formed, and each creatively bringing forth another.

[...] As before now Jane began to sit quietly, hands again folded in her lap; her mouth and lips began to work again, and finally the high thin voice emerged once more. [...]

If you don’t solve the problem before you quit work—

(Several times this morning while we were working Jane mentioned that she was receiving flashes from Seth about a particular subject—the refrigerator in our bathroom. [...]

(When I picked Jane up after work at the gallery, she told me one of the flashes from Seth was this:)

[...] I did say things like, “This morning while working on Chapter 9 for Dreams I had to reread some sessions from back in 1981 — and they’re perfect. [...]

[...] I want her to live — with me, at home, working and singing. [...]

[...] During that time she finished Seth Speaks and helped me proofread it, wrote her novel, Oversoul Seven, and worked on another Seven book [still unfinished], as well as Personal Reality and Adventures. These activities meant keeping to her schedule of two regular sessions a week for the most part, although I do the work of transcribing her trance material. Jane also held her weekly ESP classes and writing classes, and continued her work on poetry and an autobiography [also unfinished]. [...] Jane’s daily predictions have been working out exceptionally well. [...]

4. By the time the 612th session was held we were finally getting back into our old rhythms of work; they’d been seriously disrupted by the flood caused by Tropical Storm Agnes in June 1972. Just before the flood materialized (over two months ago), Seth-Jane had completed the Preface and the first session for Chapter 1 of Personal Reality; see the opening notes for Session 613 in that work.

[...] But events didn’t work out that way at all; Seth did not return. [...]

6. In Chapter 6 of Adventures, Jane described how we rented a second apartment across the hall from our first one in order to have more living and working space. [...]

Your brilliance (?) in your work, and Ruburt’s in his, partially results from the fact that you ignored the mental reality, the psychic and spiritual reality you saw all about you. [...]

[...] The friends present had no idea we were involved in any psychic work, and the subject never came up in our conversation. [...]

While writing out this statement, I’m reminded that I experienced a milder version of the same sensation last month, while I was working at my part-time job in the art department of a local greeting card company. [...]

The next night, Rob and I purchased a tape recorder, hoping that we might be able to lighten his work load. [...]

[...] It was much easier and quicker to work from his own handwritten notes.

What is required of them both in their daily working lives is in many respects precisely the same. [...]

When he is at work he thinks “This is not me, this is not myself.” [...]

This will not happen overnight, but it has already begun; and the forces that are now working toward such a reorganization will suffer, within six months, a seeming downfall from which, however, they will indeed recover.

Oddly enough, the fact that the movement is conservative will work to his advantage in very strange ways. [...]

[...] For myself, I made intuitive connections between the regular travels of the geese and our own work rhythms in producing the Seth books.

According to the intensity of the situation, now, another also desirable solution may be worked out in a probable reality. [...]

For a while such techniques worked. [...]

[...] It does mean that even in those terms, and consciously unknowing, mankind is experimenting with a probable species and working out quite spiritual issues. [...]

[...] I have a room I’m converting into a studio, and one in which to work on this manuscript. [...] So far she’s preferred to work before the picture window in the living room.

[...] Class may have to wait until Seth finishes his work on “Unknown” Reality.

(As if to celebrate our way of life and work in the house on the hill, we were visited last Saturday by Tam Mossman, Jane’s editor at Prentice-Hall, and a publishing colleague of his. [...]

[...] We told him we were at work in the back of the apartment, and left the light with him.

[...] The intuitions act well under such circumstances, and these intuitions are stored subconsciously, and will show themselves in your work.

[...] Again, we work with fine distinctions.

[...] So it is in the area of distinctions that we must work.

[...] I did no work on Dreams.

[...] The suggestion is working fairly well. [...]

[...] You early went into commercial work, where your love of painting could be sheltered beneath the Average Joe’s love of money. [...]

[...] You do not seem at this point able to realize that what you call evil works for what you call good, or that both are a part of energy, and that you are using energy to form your reality, both now and after this life. [...]

[...] And I shall certainly see to it, if I have any abilities to do so, that in your next life, you are put in the position of answering someone whose mind works exactly as yours does. [...]

[...] And if you destroy your planet, you will have others to work with, and those that were destroyed are not destroyed. [...]

(10:20.) In this state you also pursue works and endeavors that may or may not be connected with your interests as you know of them. [...] (Humorously): You are involved in the underground work, in the real nitty-gritty of existence.

Any creative work involves you in a cooperative process in which you learn to dip into these other streams of consciousness, and come up with a perception that has far more dimensions than one arising from the one narrow, usual stream of consciousness that you know. [...]

[...] You may speak with dead friends or relatives, revisit the past, greet old classmates, walk down streets that existed fifty years earlier in physical time, travel through space without taking any physical time to do so, be met by guides, be instructed, teach others, perform meaningful work, solve problems, hallucinate.

[...] You will work out your ideas, problems or dilemmas at your own level of understanding.

(As it turned out, we didn’t ask Seth about promotion work again, and he didn’t bring up the subject himself. [...]

[...] These three figures worked out a drama, highly symbolic, propelled by concentrated energy of great force.

[...] This was a living parable, made flesh among you — a cosmic play worked out for your behalf, couched in terms that you could understand.

[...] These dramas are also privately worked out in the dream state. [...]
