Today, Monday March 26, 1979 I briefly look over the start Seth has on chapter 6 of Mass Reality. [...] (There was some other stuff I got but I’ve forgotten it already.) Anyway the chapter was to be followed according to what I got, by one on frightened people who suddenly break out of old ideas, open their mental environments, and seemingly work miracles in their lives; like the old man, the old woman....
(Then in May 1978 Sue Watkins began helping me by typing the final manuscript for the session notes for Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality. [...] Late that month — unbelievably to me — I finished my own work on Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality, and immediately began to type the final draft of the sessions; as I finished groups of sessions I mailed them to Tam every few days, while at the same time collaborating with Jane on the table of contents for the book. [...]
[...] If you believe that you do indeed form your own reality, then you instantly come up against a whole new group of questions. [...] You create your own reality, or it is created for you. [...]
[...] On December 7 the copyedited manuscript for Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality came; it’s more than 900 pages long, and painstakingly checking every word on every page of that book kept us busy until Christmas Eve; I mailed it to Tam on December 26. [...]
[...] Jane did review them for me while I was working on this note, however, and here’s a slightly edited version of what she wrote as a result of her study:
[...] You are accepting as a part of your whole experience more and more of the reality of what I am. [...]
I affect reality, physical reality, because men’s minds are changed according to their ideas, and we shall change these ideas for the better. The ideas, working through men, will affect physical reality for the better. [...]
[...] You must instead consider reincarnation in the light of what you know of the spacious present.
[...] What you have of course, loosely speaking, is something like the developments narrated in The Three Faces of Eve. [...]
Emotions are electrical, magnetic realities. [...]
[...] Karma presents the opportunity for development; to make use of opportunities that were not taken advantage of, to fill in gaps of ignorance, to enlarge understanding through experience, to do what should be done.
[...] Not for a moment could he then bear to contemplate the inner reality in personal terms.
[...] No one save the individual entity knows in what directions weaknesses lie that need correction, and it sets about forming life dramas in which these can be faced.
To move an object in one universe, in one field of reality, from another field of reality, is hardly child’s play. Such personalities must learn at their end, and this learning is often accomplished along with corresponding learning on the part of a developing medium. This is what you have here. [...]
The others present will always remember what happened here, and my explanation was a necessity if the affair was to be successfully concluded.
[...] Limited concepts of the nature of reality have already been broadened in those present, in some of their descendants, and in others to whom they will speak. [...]
(“What do you think of my painting now?”)
[...] At one level, then, the body itself has a picture of reality of its own, upon which your conscious reality must be based — and yet the body’s terms of recognition or knowledge exist in terms so alien to your conscious ones as to be incomprehensible. [...]
[...] To maintain what you think of as time momentum, the hub is connected by spokes to the exterior circular framework. [...]
[...] The psyche’s picture of reality, then, would be equally incomprehensible to the conscious mind because of the intense focus upon singularity that your usual consciousness requires.
Your dreams often give you glimpses, however, of the psyche’s picture of reality in that regard.
[...] Man learns, you see, that inner reality and outer reality both must be understood and used constructively.
[...] My state was remarkably steady and pleasant: I felt awake, aware of what I was up to, and quite free and weightless. [...]
[...] I told myself I was willing to try anything — a visit to some other reality, a plunge through the door into the living room, a trip down the street in front of the house….
It served to remind him what he was doing—but more, it allowed him to recognize the situation, which you saw clearly while for a time it was invisible to him.
[...] You always recognize pleasure in work, but the body also enjoys its own creature-reality, as any animal enjoys stroking—and in the past you have stroked your kitten more than you have each other.
[...] There, you are so confident of the truth that your beliefs form reality that you need not check the body at every point to see how it is reacting, for you know it will respond as completely to the new suggestions as it did to the old, even though you recognize that practically speaking some time might be involved in Framework 2’s time.
You feel, however, the new reality take hold in Framework 1, so that you are not worried: the paperbacks will come out (intently).
In telepathic and clairvoyant experiences, the electromagnetic reality pattern is what is transmitted. [...]
[...] In almost all cases however, there must be an emotional attraction, for this is what allows for the transmission. Indeed, this is what makes the transmission possible.
The electromagnetic reality within the human organism has considerable mass, but the entire physical weight amounts to 3 to 6 ounces at the very most. [...]
All of an individual’s experiences, even those of which he is not aware on a conscious basis, therefore are part of the electromagnetic reality that forms this particular individual’s electromagnetic identity. [...]
The term “psychic” is ill-defined, so he must define for himself the field of his activity, specify clearly for both of your sakes where his own strengths lie, and his intents, and what is to be expected of him and what is not. Even within that statement there must be room for growth and accomplishment, “to explore the nature of reality.”
(Before the session I mentioned the question I kept in mind for Seth, concerning what the Sinful Self may have learned since this last series of sessions was started. [...] I wanted to know what it “thought” about such a contradictory situation, whether it understood the implications, and so forth. No matter how it must reason or react, it had to be concerned about its own survival—but in what ways, and based upon what knowledge and/or reasons? [...]
Ruburt is operating in an area in which there are few such specifications, simply because no one knows what can or cannot be done, practically speaking, at psychic levels. [...] Then within the realms of your practical reality they learn to utilize that ability. [...]
(9:00.) When he demands too much of himself, there is nowhere along the line where he can securely rest, pat himself on the back, and say “You have done a good job,” because what he has performed seems so inadequate in the light of what he feels is expected. [...]
[...] She remembered little of what she had given. I explained to her about what I really meant by my question concerning physical life in the future, and she then said that Seth was going to comment on our experience in physical reality in new ways in the future, rather than experience a lifetime of continuous physical creatures.
Both you and Ruburt, in your dream states, have already to some degree become acquainted with what your work will be. [...] Shortly I will tell you what this work will involve.
[...] You put up what you could loosely term a psychic screen to protect yourself in your parents’ home. [...]
[...] She did not say from what angle or position she saw me, and I neglected to ask her.
[...] Only when she was home did she begin to fathom the possible depths of the physical reality she’d created for herself, with my help. [...] If they fixed her knees and hips, what about her shoulders? [...] But what about my wife’s elbows, and her fingers? [...]
What might happen to the body, I wondered, even if its psychic tenant were willing to endure any or all of those “surgical procedures”? [...] But I was horrified to think that my dear wife might become involved in a similar reality, with or without my unwitting compliance. [...]
[...] Her body began to slowly lean against the right arm of her chair in what has become a characteristic pose, for both her thyroid activity, and therefore her energy, are still below par even though she’s been out of the hospital for 24 days now. [...] What were her limits, how much more could she take after some 17 years of ever-increasing struggle, whether or not those challenges had been chosen—some of them far in advance—for whatever reasons?
[...] What does one do when the insert begins to wobble? [...] Someday, I told Jane, and regardless of whether or not we ever choose to take advantage of any of them, we’ll be questioning orthopedic surgeons very closely about what “surgical procedures” are available.
(Sue’s note intrigued me anew: After class I promised her that not only would I search our files about Grunaargh, but that with Seth’s help Jane and I would eventually get more information on that family, and present it somewhere in the notes for “Unknown” Reality. [...] Going through back sessions late this evening, I found what I wanted. [...]
[...] His statements just before break that he did so are distortions on Jane’s part, I would say, while speaking for him tonight; even in trance, her memory could have been in error — or she could have been touching upon another probable reality. What Seth did talk about, and quite legitimately, were the benefits we’d enjoy if we did acquire that place. [...]
(Jane had declared before the session began tonight that she thought Seth would go into our house affairs in connection with probable realities, but that such material wouldn’t go with his book dictation on the families of consciousness. I facetiously replied that if the information didn’t fit into “Unknown” Reality we’d “force it to.” [...] Anything on our house hunting, I thought, would be welcome here because it would help unite these late sessions for “Unknown” Reality with some of its much earlier ones [in Volume 1, as it turned out]. [...]
[...] She wrote recently: “We regard Seth’s material on counterparts and families of consciousness as excellent explanations — as thematic frameworks that help us perceive and organize facets of our greater reality that are ignored by conventional academic disciplines. Seth’s explanations stand for aspects of reality that usually escape us.
Your artistic abilities know what they are doing. [...] The artist takes the very qualities of living itself and transforms them into a kind of rarefied esthetic reality. [...]
In a sense, painting is man’s natural attempt to create an original but coherent, mental yet physical interpretation of his own reality—and by extension to create a new version of reality for his species. [...]
When you hassle your abilities, when you compare what you think of as your drive unfavorably with what you think of as the superior drive of others, you are denying the integrity of your own natural individuality, and robbing your abilities of your own blessings. [...]
Art is not a specifically human endeavor, though man likes to believe that this is so, and no scientist is going to grant a spider or a bee any sense of esthetic appreciation, certainly, so what you have is art in its human manifestations, and art is above all a natural characteristic. [...]
[...] When you realize that the personality can and does have access to other kinds of information than physical, then you must begin to wonder what effects those data have on the formation of character and individual growth. [...]
[...] In those terms the body works with physical properties — though again these properties, as discussed often, have their own consciousnesses and realities.
1. Speaking of books: Even with all of the help Jane has given me lately on Psyche and Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality (see the opening notes for sessions 821 and 823, respectively), I’m still only too conscious of the work I have to do to finish the notes and other material for both books, and put together their manuscripts for the publisher. [...]
[...] I also asked Jane about what use the gorgeous colors of Billy’s luxurious fur are to him if he can’t appreciate those patches and stripes of sienna, black, warm gray, and pure white. [...] Intuitively, I felt that more is involved here than questions of camouflage and protection—that at the very least there must be connections between Billy and his colors in this reality and his source in a nonphysical one.4
(Long pause at 10:34.) Man did not have to learn by trial and error what plants were beneficial to eat, and what herbs were good for healing. [...]
[...] I wrote Tam this morning, asking questions about what long-range plans Prentice-Hall may have for the 15 books Jane and I have sold to the company. [...]
[...] It was not necessary for Ruburt to see the form again—merely to sense the reality of that powerful energy, and realize that it worked on his behalf. [...]
[...] I obtained excellent detail in the rhythmic pattern of the waist-high grasses, which was what I wanted.
[...] So I thought I would see what developed in the session.
You should by now realize that they have an electric, magnetic reality also, and that the mental enzymes act as sparks, setting off these inner reactions.
The reality of such intuitive thoughts as electromagnetic actions has not been understood, and is quite vital to any comprehension of the human system. [...]
[...] If the basic personality is fairly well balanced, then his existence in the dream reality will reinforce his physical existence. [...] You are involved in a juggling of realities. The dream reality is simply the nearest reality with which you are concerned outside of your physical preoccupation. It is necessary to see the personality as it operates within both realities, if you are interested in viewing the personality as a whole. [...]
He has managed to organize physical reality because he focuses so intensely within it. His knowledge of other realities is limited however to infrequent glimpses. He perceives bits and pieces of other realities. [...]
I am not suggesting that you substitute dream reality for your so-called waking reality. [...]
I cannot stress too strongly the fact that mankind in general is aware of very little outside of physical reality.
[...] When I “attend these sessions,” or “speak,” then I exchange with others a more complicated system of reality than any computer could handle. You do not understand or perceive the ways in which your reality contributes to the foundation of the mass-world reality that you experience. [...] In my case, however, I am aware of the same kind of activities, only in regard to many realities rather than one.2
In your world knowledge must be translated into specifics, yet we also deal with emotional realities that cannot be so easily deciphered. In this session, in the words I speak — but more importantly in the atmosphere of the session — there are hints of those undecipherable yet powerful realities that will then, in your time, gradually be described in verbal terms that make sense to you.
[...] Seth came through with some very interesting material on the relationship involving the three of us, as well as the communication between his reality and ours. [...]
Now: In explanation, I do not know exactly how to word this, but in a manner of speaking I take tours — through psychological realities, however, or through psychic lands rather than physical ones. [...]
I have told you that exterior reality is a materialization of inner electromagnetic reality. [...]
[...] Now in a different kind of projection, you could face for example the girl’s thought forms as a pseudophysical reality.
[...] In these sessions we are translating basic realities into verbal terms, no mean accomplishment. [...]
