(Jane then arose abruptly and began to dictate in a voice somewhat stronger than usual, without greeting. [...]

(Jane resumed in the same strong voice at 10:38.)

[...] Jane used the rather strong voice throughout the session, along with more gestures than usual also.

(The five of us were discussing the session when Jane spoke for Seth again, abruptly rising and dictating in the same strong voice. [...]

[...] During the evening we played some tapes also, and among these was one of the recordings Jane made of G. K. Chesterton’s poem Lepanto; Jane was in a trance state while reading this, apparently in a close approximation of the voice of her now dead friend, Father Trainor. [...]

[...] Her voice remained at an average level, nor was her delivery out of the ordinary.

[...] Her voice was a bit stronger than usual, without reaching anything like the volume it is capable of; her pace a little faster, her manner active.)

[...] F. Fell called the session “remarkable,” etc., and noted the charge in voice, personality, expression, etc., that took place in Jane when she spoke as Seth.

(Jane’s Seth voice was pretty steady for the most part. [...]

[...] Then in a stronger, faster voice:

[...] (Voice louder than usual; eyes mostly closed however.)

[...] Jane’s voice had been quite loud throughout, though her pace was rather slow and her eyes were closed most of the time. [...]

[...] She resumed at the same slow pace, but in a fairly good voice, at 10:47.)

[...] It’s a thought I’ve had often, but haven’t voiced. [...]

[...] Throughout her voice had carried a very pronounced tremor, as it does now whenever she becomes upset. [...]

(Then in a much stronger voice, with little tremor, and eyes dark and closed often, and with many long pauses:)

[...] She began speaking for Seth in a very quiet voice. [...]

(Jane’s voice was still relatively quiet as she spoke for Seth, but her delivery was faster and much more intense now, and she used many gestures.)

[...] Her voice had remained quiet for the most part, but had become very intent. [...]

[...] She began dictation in a rather normal voice, that occasionally struck a deeper undertone. [...]

[...] Her voice was now quiet, and she paused often. [...]

[...] The food and drink seemed to be most helpful, however, and she resumed dictation in a quiet voice. [...]

(Jane’s voice was much quieter by now.)

(Notes by Rob: Some of Seth’s voice effects were very loud. [...]

(The session is included in the regular series [Session 494] because of the voice effects; the fact that both Seth and his entity spoke; some new ideas from both entities; and because no regular session was held the next day, Wednesday, July 16. [...]

[...] When you immerse yourselves completely in physical reality, then you have no time for the inner voice. [...]

[...] You will not let the inner self speak clearly enough to you—so we will give it the voice that you can hear... [...]

[...] During our private and book sessions Seth’s voice effects are usually quite conversational in tone and emphasis, and he speaks slowly enough so that I can comfortably take notes. The Seth voice can be stunning in volume and rapidity of delivery, however, and can seemingly continue in those modes indefinitely: I’ve witnessed some truly remarkable demonstrations, lasting several hours. [...] As she’s often said, she “rides” the Seth voice, or the energy behind or within it.

Both of us have written about the Seth voice effects in other books, as we try to understand more about them.

(During this session Jane spoke for three hours in a voice somewhat louder and deeper than usual; and during this time she felt no strain, other than the accustomed tiredness coming at the end of a long day.

(By now Jane’s voice had reached the state it would maintain for the balance of the session; somewhat louder, a little sharper, a little lower.)

[...] During break Jane’s voice abruptly returned to its normal tone. [...]

(By now, Jane’s voice had resumed its deeper tone.)

[...] Her voice was very quiet, yet clear. [...]

[...] She resumed in the same quiet and clear voice at 9:33.)

(Jane’s Seth voice was again on the quiet side, her delivery quite slow at times.)

[...] Then she said, her voice breaking, “It wasn’t until the other day that I really realized — felt — just how far I’d strayed from normal motion, or life, after all this time. [...]

Again, you have been taught to believe that impulses are wrong, generally speaking, or at best that they represent messages from a nefarious subconscious, giving voice to dark moods and desires.

[...] He would never have acknowledged the original impulse to speak for me, and my voice would have been unheard in your world.

[...] When she did go into trance as we sat at the living room table, her voice had a distinct tremor—more so than on Monday night [April 12] and a farther-away or more distant feeling or sound. [...]

[...] Jane’s Seth voice had strengthened somewhat as the session progressed. [...]

[...] Her eyes began to open soon after she began speaking in a quiet voice at 9:01.)

[...] When she spoke for Seth, Jane’s pace was somewhat faster than usual; eyes open often and quite dark, voice about average. There were no strong voice effects. [...]

[...] You should hear voices and see a figure on the horizon... [...]

[...] During the session we observed no voice phenomena to speak of. [...]

[...] See how prim that last sentence would sound if it were merely written down without the lively, slightly sardonic inflection which I manage to give to Ruburt’s voice?

[...] Jane had shown no voice or hand phenomena, nor had she any feeling of nervousness before the session began.

“Then suddenly Jane announced in a firm clear voice, ‘Watch the hand.’ It was a command, and I knew that Seth was with us. [...] With considerable relish Seth, through Jane’s voice, described in detail each effect that followed—so that, he said, there would be no doubt as to what happened.

[...] Her voice dropped considerably in volume and I really had the sensation that she was indeed speaking for someone else (rather than for a subconscious personality, for example, who just called itself Seth).

[...] If we thought that Seth “came through” as himself in the last sessions, we had a lot to learn in the next one, when Seth’s own, more powerful voice suddenly emerged.

[...] When her voice tired I read the rest of them to her. [...]
