Obviously, Seth didn’t follow through on the statement he’d made near the end of the last book session, which we held much earlier this month: “Remind me, for our next session, to wind in a discussion of those subjective entities as they learned how to translate themselves into physical individuals.” [...]

In effect, Ankh-Hermes has published not only a translation but a condensation. [...]

“Whenever a book is translated, it is almost impossible, of course, to say the same thing in the same way. [...]

[...] We’re caught between the economic realities of the situation as far as Ankh-Hermes is concerned, and our own intense desires that translations of the Seth books match the original versions as closely as possible. [...]

(Long pause at 12:06.) Because you are physical creatures even your dreams must be translated through the reality of your flesh. [...]

[...] He may form images of dream cities or people that are of a very joyful nature, translate the emotion itself into whatever symbols are pertinent to him. An exuberance may be translated into images of playing animals, flying people, or animals or landscapes of great beauty. [...]

[...] These stages of consciousness are infrequent and seldom translated into normal conscious terms.

[...] In the past he has more or less translated this data automatically into a new camouflage pattern, in other words into a painting, without realizing that he had received any vision at all. [...]

[...] That is, Ruburt automatically translates inner data given by me into coherent, valid and faithful camouflage patterns, into words. [...]

[...] The problem is not only to receive data through the inner senses in an undistorted and coherent manner, but also of translating this data into the particular camouflage patterns with which you are familiar.

[...] It is simpler to translate information from the outer environment into sense data. It is more difficult to translate inner data in this manner. [...] Inner data so translated must be built up from scratch, so to speak. [...] There is no like sense of continuity, as a rule, against which to check sense perceptions which are translations of inner data.

[...] If such inner data is to become at all conscious, it must be translated into terms that the ego can recognize. [...]

There is a significant similarity between sense perceptions that are translations of inner data, and the sense perceptions that take place in dreams, in that both are relatively fleeting. [...]

(I showed them to Jane after the session and asked her to translate them, as she has done with the Christmas card I made for her, but she hasn’t had time to do so as I begin typing this the next evening. The translation will be added to the end of the session, presumably.)

(Jane translated this Wednesday morning. [...]

(At 11:25 PM I showed her the Sumari verse I had written before the session, and requested a translation. [...] I hadn’t expected anything on the verse translation this evening, especially after a long session.)

(I didn’t show Jane this, and ask for a translation, until after the session. [...]

(Then Jane translated the whole verse. [...]

[...] In the opening notes for Session 855, which was held on May 21, I wrote that a few days earlier we’d received our complimentary copies of the German translation of Seth Speaks. I added that we expected the Dutch translation of the same book to be published later this year, but that we didn’t know just when this would happen — so Jane and I were understandably surprised last Thursday to receive a letter from a reader in Holland, informing us that he’d just purchased a copy of the Dutch edition of Seth Speaks! [...]

You translated, now, this data into other terms. The alien nature of the individual you translated into an animalistic appearance. This was not to emphasize any lower or base characteristics, but was your way of translating the individual’s exceptionally clear, pure and single-minded perception. [...]

[...] But he picked up fully your emotional recognition and fear, and these were translated or perceived by him in his own fashion, so that to him you appeared as a mass of varying colors, and as movement of severe intensity.

[...] You on your part translated what was inner data into a form that you could, or hoped to, understand. [...]

[...] And yet even this involves automatic translations of which he is not consciously aware.

Your visitor would then be forced to translate that information as best he could through his own native structure, if it were to make any sense to his consciousness in its usual orientation. [...]

This program spread out and was translated by others in dream states. [...]

The speaker at your end must necessarily do the translating, and the purity of the translation, relatively speaking, is determined by the speaker’s own development. [...]

[...] Sumari is a “language” she can speak or sing while in trance, and which she can translate into English if and when she wants to. [...]

[...] It reminded me at once of a dirge or an elegy, and I felt chills as I began to intuitively understand just how meaningful it was, even without any translation at all.

As the days passed Jane kept putting me off about doing the translation, until finally I grew resentful and despairing at her refusal to cooperate. [...]

Because of my own writing experience, I’m also well aware of the process involved in translating unconscious material into conscious reality. [...]

[...] [She] could not receive the information from me — it could not be translated nor interpreted — while she was focused intensely in the physical environment.”

[...] Our ideas are as close to fact as you can get, granting the necessary translations, and as you build your lives on those frameworks you will no longer be programmed, reacting to erroneous “facts” as if they had a basis in reality. [...]

[...] Jane said she felt that Seth stood between her and the new personality to act as a translator in both directions. I speculated that Jane had to make more of an effort at translating.

[...] During sessions there is a constant translation of energy from one dimension-plane to another, and on his part a change of reference points, allowing for such translations to occur.

The psychic organism is much better equipped to handle such transformations and translations than is the physical organism, and there are also influences, quite natural, from surrounding psychic environments within your system that can act as resistances.

(While I was typing up this material on February 25, Jane got the translation of the Sumari I wrote her at the end of the statement of February 24. Both the statement & the translation, which I think is excellent, are included with this session.
