Ruburt’s symptoms are not his challenge this time, as you asked (in question 13), but the philosophical connotations behind his difficulties certainly do involve his challenges this time.

They begin with a certain impetus, give you a certain kind of progress, and regardless of how great or small that progress may be, there is a necessary time of assimilation—that is, the stimulation over a period of time is more effective when it is in a fashion intermittent, when certain methods are tried out, applied and so forth, but by the very nature of the healing process there is also the necessity of letup, diversion and looking away. Reading the sessions of the Magical Approach with some consistency is now in order, where for example I might counsel at another time that they be set aside for a while. In this case at this time, however, they can serve as valuable springboards to release from your own creative areas new triggers for inspiration and understanding, and hence for therapeutic development. While you believe in and experience the passage of time, then such questions will naturally occur to you, and in that fashion. [...] When you begin to question the nature of time itself, then the “when” of the universe is beside the point.

Time to your dreaming self is much like ‘time’ to your waking inner self. The time concept in dreams may seem far different than your conception of time in the waking state when you have your eyes on the clock and are concerned with getting to some destination by, say, 12:15. But it is not so different from time in the waking state when you are sitting alone with your thoughts. Then, I am sure, you will see the similarity between this alone sort of inner psychological time, experienced often in waking hours, and the sense of time experienced often in a dream. [...]

You were Ruburt’s younger brother at that time, and both of you engaged in many bloody religious battles. You were blunt men, yet highly emotional, living for some time near Constantinople, but ranging far, even to Afghanistan, and on several occasions meeting bands from Rome.

In connection with the Turkish life, you decided upon certain handicaps this time. You were the adored sons of a Turkish chieftain, following the social patterns of your times, gifted at birth with power and position.

Even the duration of an event or object in space or time is determined by the intensity of the thoughts or emotions that gave it birth. Duration in space is not the same as duration in time, however, though it may seem that this is the case. [...] An event or object that exists briefly in space may have a much greater duration in time. [...] Such an event or object does not merely exist symbolically within your mind or memory — but in your terms its actual reality continues as a time event.

While your present conscious beliefs dictate your current experience, and while your physical body wears its solidity only in present time to your senses, beneath this both the ever-changing elements of your body and your consciousness are relatively free in time. [...]
