(I left work in the writing room at about 8:45 to see how Jane was doing at the card table in the living room. [...]

(At the card table:)

[...] He began to write notes for his book as soon as breakfast was over, and before the table was cleared. [...]

[...] Now this morning at the table he suddenly realized why he did not want to get up this morning, and why at other times he did not want to get up: he did not want to go to work, like a child who does to want to go to school. [...]

[...] This was one of the reasons for the table developments, and these will be followed by others.

(As Seth, Jane picked up a copy of Personal Reality from the coffee table. [...]

[...] The finger began to ache as she sat with it in her lap as we congregated at the kitchen table. [...]

(Tonight’s session started later than usual because of a mix-up in communications between us: I thought Jane was too groggy after supper as she sat at the card table in the living room, so I went to my room to work on the intro for Dreams—whereas she was waiting for me to come out and sit with her to see if we’d have some sort of session. [...]

[...] The glass of wine on the coffee table before me, the cigarettes, and the mass-produced table itself, are all reminders that my most adventuresome journeys into other realities are rooted, for now at least, in the physical world of events that we all share together.

There are several people with Dr. Instream, about a table. (Pause at 10:13.) There is a crash, audible from the table, but it comes from another room.

[...] When she began writing Magical Approach, she even surprised me by occasionally helping me get breakfast, cooking bacon and eggs at the hot plate I’d set up for her some seven months ago on the kitchen table.⁴ Although she could work at the table while sitting down, she’d given up those simple, nurturing acts of food preparation many weeks ago; her fingers weren’t working well enough, she told me at the time; she didn’t trust herself enough to handle hot food—and I admit that when she implied a risk, the chance of an accident, I stopped encouraging her to help me with meals.

By August, however, Jane hadn’t “walked,” even by leaning upon her typing table and pushing it before her, for over eight months; she was still getting around the hill house in either her wheeled office chair, or the old straight chair I’d equipped with casters last June. [...]

[...] Jane leaned back on the couch with her feet up on the coffee table, and I sat facing her with my notebook propped up on one knee; the fireplace was only a couple of feet in back of me. [...]

[...] During their visit I noticed that my right leg, propped up on the coffee table, would suddenly fall very quickly and unexpectedly to the floor. [...]

[...] You can find one on the ground, or on a table, or in a pie. [...]

[...] If I said: “Apples sit quietly on a table,” you would have to agree that such is sometimes the case. [...]

[...] When I speak of the behavior of your psyche, then, you may wonder: “How can my psyche exist in more than one time at once?” It can do this just as an apple can be found on a table or on the ground or on the tree.

(As session time neared I lay my dream notebook on the table, as Seth had suggested we do. [...]

(Jane laughed and knocked upon the table for emphasis.)

[...] She’s now developed difficulties with vision, hearing—especially in the left ear—walking, and practically all physical activities except sitting at her table or desk, or on the couch watching TV. [...]

[...] She usually sits at her table in the morning and afternoons until going to the john around 4 PM; usually she doesn’t do much in this period. [...]

[...] They are quite as real as a table or a chair. [...]

[...] Here Seth referred to some comments about reincarnation and counterparts that I’d made to Jane this evening at the supper table.)

[...] By the time she laid them on the coffee table between us she was in trance. [...]

In the same way, it would take you some time to even walk from a table to a chair if you had to be consciously aware of all of the nerves and muscles that must first be activated. [...]

[...] “I love the red couch cover you’re sitting on,” she said as we waited for the session—and indeed, the corded fabric glowed in the warm light cast by the table lamp on the room divider behind the couch; the divider separates the kitchen from the living room.

[...] I got her in her chair and out to the living room table.

[...] Opening them, I find a lovely table-and-chair set of simulated wood, and I tell Rob that we can use them in our new kitchen.

(From my writing table, to my right of the entrance to our bath, I could look easily at Bill as he sat in our Kennedy rocker, facing the bath entrance itself from the other side of the same door. [...]

[...] Bill in the meantime kept staring into the open bath doorway, and as before I could see nothing from my position at the table.)

[...] Also, Jane said Seth had played a trick on her during the last delivery: He had not let her approach my writing table, where she usually let her cigarettes lay, and she had been unable to smoke.

(Jane was sitting across from me at the table. [...]

[...] I suggest you keep track of your dreams, Joseph, when possible; and that copies of dreams for which you would like analysis be left on the table before sessions.

[...] We had barely begun to discuss the dream material when she abruptly began dictating again while sitting across from me at the table. [...]
