Now: in Ruburt’s story of Emir, he presents a theoretical new earth, yet in the truest meaning of that term, earth is ever-new, for fresh energy comes into the exterior world from an interior source.

(This afternoon and evening, and somewhat to my surprise, Jane has been talking about discussing her physical symptoms in her new book, God of Jane. I thought her changed attitude stemmed from her long phone conversation with Tristine Rainer, of Dan Curtis Associates, a television production company that wants to option her life story. [See the notes for the deleted session for August 20, 1979.] They wrote August 8. If her life story were ever to be filmed, the symptoms would have to be considered, we found ourselves thinking. [...]

(The connections with washings and the art comes about because on the first two pages of the comic story sent to me by Bill Ward, the heroine is shown taking a shower, using a towel, etc. [...] The heroine’s act of showering is important to the story because of the steps taken by the enemy to destroy her while she is so occupied.

(Bill’s letter outlined the steps necessary to finish the job, which consists of five pages of a comic type story, in pictures and text, for a men’s magazine. [...]

[...] While our heroine is shown taking a shower on the first two pages of the comic story, the villain is shown skulking outside her apartment window via a fire escape, then reaching in through an open window to tamper with some of the heroine’s personal effects. [...]

[...] The story sprang out of the hilarious way she’s taken to addressing Mitzi in regard to that cat’s gifts from heaven; I’ve been telling her that the affair would make a great children’s book.³ In the several pages she wrote this evening Jane presented her material quite humorously, in a manner reminiscent of, yet different from, her second Seven novel, The Further Education of Oversoul Seven, and her Emir.⁴

In a fashion—in a fashion—the [universe] began in the same way that Ruburt’s story this evening began: with the desire to create—out of joy, not from a sense of responsibility.

3. I’ve also suggested to Jane that she might be able to incorporate into her story about Billy and Mitzi the little poem below. [...]

There is quite a fleshy story here, in which Mark was rather directly connected. [...]
