(In yesterday’s session, Seth said that “new developments concerning the insurance situation are occurring, to your benefit.” [...]

All of this, of course, applies to Ruburt’s situation — for once, indeed, he willed himself into immobility, willing to sacrifice certain kinds of motion in order to safely use other kinds of psychological motion, because he was afraid of his spontaneous nature, or his spontaneous self.

(Long pause.) It may be far more pleasant to be good-humored all of the time — but in Ruburt’s situation the fairly infrequent periods of blueness do indeed operate therapeutically, so that he is able to express those feelings through tears, and therefore relieve the body of expressing the same feelings through additional symptoms.

[...] The situation was somewhat frustrating, since I’d looked forward to some good material in changing the past from the present; I hadn’t wanted the question to be forgotten.

[...] When you seem to suffer in contrast to the development or situation of any other specific or generalized persons, it is when you are trying to live up to artificial pictures of yourselves—of people who should have been as knowledgeable years ago as they are now, and who therefore now should be at much greater stages of development. [...]

(10:20.) Again, it goes without saying that in your situations you largely overlook such benefits. [...]

(I explained all the aspects of our situation as best I could, and asked some good questions. [...]

(She has talked with Andrew Fife, and so knows at least something of our situation. [...]

([Ron:] “To a certain extent, you know, you can always— you can bring my motivations into question, but I have like one overriding feeling and that is—I feel that within my own experience I have seen certain indications just from the things that I might be capable of that I could do this myself if, if when and if, because I have entertained the challenge of developing this ability but I in this situation here, I am confronted with kind of a different type of ramifications. [...]

([Ron:] “Even though for myself, you know, for my own personal point of view it would be something that would be very relevant and particularly in terms of the way I relate into this situation.”)

Your immediate situation and all past ones, regardless of personal fears, which should not be discounted, result from Ruburt’s until-now determined decision to stand critically apart from his intuitional knowledge. [...]

[...] As Ruburt’s muscles exert themselves they often also hurt, but there is no one for him to compare his situation to—and because he has not trusted the body he becomes alarmed.

(Yesterday Jane had what was probably her worst day yet—very uncomfortable indeed; she was in “a crisis situation,” as she put it. [...]

[...] I thought that situation analogous to ours, for I can think of nothing left to rely upon except ourselves. [...]

Many have been in far worse situations, and healed themselves. [...]

[...] When he finds himself negatively imagining a situation, he must immediately realize this as a negative habit pattern. [...]

[...] She may be so different in basic ways from most of her fellow human beings that conflicts may be almost inevitable—at least until later in life, when the personality has learned what the situation is and can make adjustments. (9:18.) The arthritis situation is as I gave it (in a number of private sessions), but you are still faced with the medical interpretation of that situation, so that it is up to Ruburt to set it aside. [...]

(Long pause at 7:46.) If Ruburt once found himself imagining that he must be strong and perfect enough to help solve everyone else’s problems, now he found himself relatively helpless and “undefended”—that is, his physical condition put him in [such a situation]. [...] It could not survive such a situation.

I could write many windy pages about the mysteries of life, I suppose, and how each of us does the best we can, although often we may not understand what we’re doing; but what I really want to do is simply note that in her case, fortunately, and even if she may think she’s failed in certain major areas of life, Jane has achieved some remarkable insights into her own situation (as I have into mine, being her marriage partner). [...]

[...] The way had been illuminated by Seth himself in his private sessions, with his discussions of her sinful self and related challenges: Those sessions, the publication of the two books, Jane’s personal sinful-self material and her worsening physical situation, all combined to serve as a complex trigger. [...] Frederick may be reacting to an unpleasant event experienced within the dream state, where in the dream the upsetting situation was accompanied by the odor of a particular perfume.
