“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Jane had no idea of the material for the session as the time for it approached. She said that a day or two after any given session the memory of it seems like a dream; she has to read it to verify that it actually exists.

(She began dictation in a much stronger voice than normal, and maintained it throughout the session. [...] She also spoke somewhat faster than last session. [...]

He feels a new freedom, realizing, because he can be such a knucklehead, though a beloved one, now that he has freedom to do as he desires, to hold sessions or not to hold them. Because he does at times use you as an authority figure, he did have a tendency to think that he must have sessions because you wanted them.

(In the 460th session of January 27, 1969, Seth predicted the sale of the dream book to Ace, considering present—at that time—probabilities. [...]

(Then in the 754th session, on August 25, Seth gave an excellent dissertation on what he called “the stamp of identity” — explaining how the individual psychically marks certain exterior aspects of reality and “makes them his or her own,” in tune with personal inner symbols. Later in the session Jane felt that Seth was taking her on a guided tour of Jerusalem, way back in the first century A.D. None of this consisted of book work, though, so the session remains in our files along with other material that we hope to publish one day.

(Because of the press of other matters following the 753rd session — my work doing the notes for Seth’s “Unknown” Reality, Jane’s involvement in writing a new introduction for one of her own books that’s coming out in a new paperback edition, and a stream of unexpected visitors — we didn’t hold any sessions for several weeks. [...] Ordinarily he’d have ended the session after that. This evening, however, Jane felt so much energy that Seth returned for some more book dictation — the first time a session has worked out that way as far as I can remember.

[...] Then just before the session started, she said it would concern dictation on Seth’s new book.)

For several reasons we will have a fairly brief session this evening.

I want to give you some more material to further fill out our outline for future sessions dealing with dream reality. [...]

Instead of missing a session however, I decided to give you this small preliminary material this evening, and then dismiss school early.

The next night we held what we thought might be our last session. After it, we knew that we were committed, and to us the session really marks the beginning of the Seth Material, the end of the preliminary data.

It was in this session that Seth suggested we hold sessions twice a week, saying that a schedule was far better than spasmodic activity. [...]

Then, with strong humorous accents he spoke about the Ouija board which we still used to open and close sessions. [...] … At the end of a session it would be most cordial to touch your hands briefly to the board. [...]

The first session with Frank Withers had been held on December 2, 1963. In the fourteenth session, January 8, I was ready to speak for Seth, deep masculinelike tones and all. [...]

(I’m writing these notes as though for a session, but I have no idea whether a session will develop. As I can note the next day, however, one did develop—so I’m skipping the typing of the sessions for November 8—the second one for that day—and November 9, in order to get right to work on this one. [...] She got mad at me briefly just now when I demanded to know if I would really get a session tonight: “Bob, I’m trying as hard as I can. [...] A few minutes ago she’d told me that she had to have the session in order to get rid of the anxiety-hallucination complex. [...]

(John Bradley was a witness to the session, and part of the material deals with John’s relationship with his employer, Searle. The first part of the session however takes off on various matters Jane, John and I were discussing before session time, and so is unplanned. [...]

(After the session John told us that he has informally been approached to work for a rival drug concern—Abbott, recently.)

(After the session Jane found herself giving some impressions on her own, again involving John and his company and related personnel. [...]

[...] It would be no accident, then, that this session came through when it did—as Jane begins to heal herself physically, so does she psychically, as Seth remarked would happen in yesterday’s session. [...]

We held the session in the living room, as usual. [...] And although she began the session slowly, Jane proceeded right along with it.)

(Seth used Session 909 as a bridge between chapters 6 and 7 in Dreams. This means that now the session also serves as a connective—a very effective lure, say—between volumes 1 and 2. Indeed, in retrospect it also seems as though Seth, that “energy personality essence,” planned it that way! [...]

(A closing note, added following Seth’s completion of his sessions for Dreams on February 8, 1982:

When I began putting together Seth’s dictation for Dreams, and adding Jane’s and my own notes, plus excerpts from other relevant sessions, it soon became obvious that the entire work was going to be too long for one volume. [...]

(I’d stopped asking Jane for sessions, private or regular, since most of the time it seemed obvious that she wasn’t up to it, so she rather surprised me after supper tonight by saying that if I “sat with her” for ten minutes or so she’d see if she could have a session. [...]

(8:34.) I hope here merely to set up again the feel of the sessions, and then will gradually give you more material. [...] I cannot impress upon you too much, however, the importance of those early sessions on the Magical Approach, for they will make even more sense to you now after the hospital experience. [...]

Reading those sessions together is important, for it is the inner realities and the inner insights that will also release the thyroid’s proper activity, and allow the resumption of more normal physical expression. [...]

(This afternoon while doing Yoga exercises Jane gave herself suggestions to the effect that she would do better in the envelope test tonight, than she had done last session. As will be seen, she did do much better.

We resumed the session, with all kinds of questions in our minds. [...] Since the session began at nine and lasted until midnight, I won’t attempt to include it all. The deep masculine voice was to last for the entire session, becoming more and more Seth-like as the evening continued.

[...] I thought that the whole subject was fascinating when he began, but I didn’t expect a demonstration in the middle of our living room, which is exactly what happened in the 68th session (July 6, 1964). [...] It was a session none of us would ever forget. [...]

Session 68 was held on a very warm night. [...] We were drinking iced coffee, and as the session started, my glass sat on the wooden table. [...]

Shortly after the session began, I picked up the abandoned glass and held it out to show to Rob and Bill. [...]

SESSION 786 (DELETED PORTION)

Usually a session runs for several hours, and the energy is used up by the time the session is over. On the show, the session lasted only twenty minutes or a half hour, at most. [...]

[...] I hadn’t held a regular Seth session since the tour. [...] Regular Seth sessions in the privacy of our living room were one thing. [...]

The relationship between Seth and myself snaps into focus by prearranged appointments, as suggested by him in the early day’s of the sessions. [...] Yet at nine, the session begins, and Seth “comes alive.”

[...] Instead, Jack began to play a taped Seth session. [...]

(Last Monday evening Jane had been so relaxed that she’d passed up the session. I thought she’d felt somewhat the same way today, and was rather surprised when she told me at 8:30 PM that she’d have the session....

Tonight’s session may not be formal book dictation, but it contains many connections to Dreams. “I don’t care whether we have a book session or one on something else,” Jane said as we sat for the session at 8:50. [...]

[...] Fairy tales are indeed often—though not always—carriers of a kind of underground knowledge, as per your discussion about Cinderella (also see the 824th session for Mass Events), and the greatest fairy tales are always those in which the greatest expectations win out: The elements of the physical world that are unfortunate can be changed in the twinkling of an eye through great expectations.

(This session is deleted from the record. Before the session Jane and I held a general discussion re her improvement, my parents’ serious situation, Jane’s recent days of writing poetry. [...]

(In the last session, 372nd, October 16, 1967, Seth predicted good sales for Jane’s ESP book. [...]

(Long pause, eyes closed.) This session itself should aid your understanding enough to allow some improvement almost immediately in the condition itself. [...]

(The regularly scheduled session for Wednesday, August 25 was not held.

[...] She wondered if the 592nd session would be suitable, and I told her that I thought Seth had planned it that way. [...]

[...] Now Seth came through with a little information for Jane and me, then ended the session at 10:45 P.M. “When the session started I had no idea at all that he was going to talk about Hitler and Germany,” Jane said. [...]

(On May 3, the day after she’d delivered the last session, Jane was working on her third Seven novel when she received from Prentice-Hall a dozen complimentary copies of her second Seven: The Further Education of Oversoul Seven. [...]

(It’s almost as though there’s an unspoken agreement among Jane, Seth and me — but starting with the 846th session, which was held over a month ago [on April 4], Seth has been dictating material for Mass Events on Wednesday evenings only.)
