[...] At 3:05 she started reading yesterday’s session—and surprised me by doing very well indeed. [...]
(Jane had the first part of the session early. [...]
I may or may not return, again according to those rhythms of which I speak, and it is indeed a good idea, as you know, to review our sessions. [...]
[...] I read the session to Jane, then checked it again to make sure I understood what Seth was saying. [...]
[...] A session dealing with upsetting material should lead or be directed toward some immediate release. If extremely upsetting material is obtained then the emotional release must be allowed before the session is considered finished. On a few occasions such material was partially uncovered, and you both ended the session. [...]
[...] Ruburt could put himself in a light trance state before a session, and you could ask the questions while he holds the pendulum.
We will shortly end this session. [...]
(Before the session tonight Jane told me she thought Seth was getting ready to start another book of his own soon. [...] She had mentioned the same thing on Wednesday, March 29, when we sat for a session. No session developed at that sitting, however—in itself this is quite an unusual occurrence. [...]
[...] This does not mean that other in-between sessions cannot deal with helping others, or with personal material. [...]
[...] Such a book can be given quite normally and quietly along with your regular routine of sessions, adding to your own knowledge, and ultimately helping others also. [...]
[...] She or Seth, hadn’t been bothered by an eruption of noise from the apartment over us; several people entered there after the session started; there was much walking about, banging of furniture, etc, that I found quite irritating. [...]
(11:15 p.m. I chose a break in order to see if Jane still wanted me to ask Seth about the ideas she’d talked about before the session. She had been tired earlier, but had revived considerably by now; nevertheless she decided to forego the questions and end the session.)
(As usually happens at this time of year, we’ve begun to miss some regularly scheduled sessions. [...]
(The first portion of this session is deleted. [...]
[...] See the material on hormones and beliefs in the 621st session in Chapter Four.)
(However, brief as it was, this session could reflect a significant advance on Jane’s part—especially when one considers the implications of the first paragraph of the session. [...]
(See my hospital notes for the events leading up to this little session. [...]
[...] Jane had spoken with more emphasis than she had for the first two sessions in this series. [...]
DELETED SESSION
Then, re-reading some material I was struck by the massive intellect behind it, the real beauty of the material, and sad that I did not really let myself realize it before; indeed that I had allowed myself to be affected by the lesser writings of others; even to the extent that in some late sessions it affected the material. [...] Realized yesterday also, going over old notes, that my original ‘cosmic consciousness’ (borrowed phrases again) experience was with The Physical Universe as Idea Construction which turned into and developed into the sessions and Seth Material; the natural, intuitive, and logical development; which to a large extent I relegated to the background and sometimes even distrusted. [...]
Believe this all has to do with the above, plus with a strange session held the night before last, in which through me the voice said it was sort of ‘beyond Seth’; the message coming from a higher portion of that personality; tremendous energy seemed to flow through me and the definite, thank God, certainty, that this came from beyond me, and was automatically translated into words at my end. Subjectively I feel this was as significant a development—almost—as the original Seth session. [...]
[...] In a session that night, Seth emphasized the new direction I should follow.
[...] In other words, the sessions are a signal of a sort, activating certain portions of Ruburt’s being. [...] You both become more open to new probabilities, and the sessions themselves should also have a healing effect as far as you are concerned, Joseph, so that you are both set in a different kind of psychic climate. [...]
(At 3:15 I read yesterday’s session to Jane, after she tried unsuccessfully to read it herself. [...]
It is indeed a good practice to hold even a brief session in the afternoon, for you set up a certain kind of healing structure in which healing is accelerated. [...]
I meant to point out at our last session the multitudinous ways in which our sessions are related to the events of the world. Sessions are initially mental, and yet many of them result of course in books, which are read by others.
[...] Perhaps that idea can give you some glimmering of the ways in which the daily events of your readers’ lives are changed as a result of our sessions. [...]
[...] He should also read the last few of our sessions, and I have listed my suggestions this evening for his more convenient use.
End of session.
(Before the session, we voiced the hope once more that Seth would at least comment on Jane’s latest experience involving book work in the sleep state. This had taken place during the early hours of May 29, and had been very vivid; see the notes leading off the 667th session in this chapter. [...] It’s easy to miss out on asking specific questions during a session — I’ve done this even when I had a list of them prepared beforehand.
[...] “That was one of the few times in all of these sessions,” Jane said, “when I was not even in trance.” [...] For more data on moment points, see the material at 9:26 in the last session. [...]
2. Seth first discussed his theory of “moment points” in a set of four sessions in April and May, 1965, in connection with reincarnation and the dream universe. In the 152nd session he stated: “The whole self of which Ruburt is a part is an extremely elastic one. [...]
[...] For some related material see my notes for the 582nd session in Chapter Twenty of Seth Speaks. It’s enough to say here that it wasn’t until after these sessions began, in 1963, that I realized my inner models were quite as valid as those who physically sat before me. [...]
[...] Her eyes aren’t closed during sessions, except for relatively brief periods — but they can be barely open, say, or half open, or wide open and much darker than usual. She sits for sessions in her Kennedy rocker, but on occasion she gets up and moves about. [...] Almost always she joins me in a snack after the session, no matter how late it is.
(Before the session, Jane said she felt rather nervous; she thought Seth would start his own book this evening. Her feeling of nervousness is quite unusual in these sessions. [...]
SESSION 511, JANUARY 21, 1970,
9:10 P.M. WEDNESDAY
[...] Most of our sessions however are fairly quiet.
[...] I thought the session might be short and decided to rely upon my memory for a reconstruction. [...] What follows then is a brief summary of the first half of the session, based upon our memory, and a verbatim transcription of the second half.
(In the beginning the four of us sat on the floor, grouped around our coffee table and holding hands as suggested by Seth in the 125th session, and as we had done before. [...]
[...] Indeed, she displayed much more animation than she has for any of our regular sessions since she began to deliver the material from a sitting position. [...]
(Jane had no idea of the material for the session. [...] She began in rather a slow manner, but as the session progressed her delivery speeded up somewhat. [...]
(See page 323, of the 145th session, for a description of my experiences. Also see the 86th session.)
We will continue with this discussion at our next session. You may, as you prefer, end this session now, or you may take a short break and continue it.
[...] It has been a most fruitful session. We may have a surprise session some evening, when we will deal with less weighty matters.
Jane and I haven’t had any sessions for the last 12 days, while we worked on God of Jane and Mass Events respectively. “I feel like having a short session tonight,” she said, “but it won’t be for Dreams. [...]
(In Chapter 5 of Dreams, in Volume 1, see Note 2 for the 899th session, of February 6, 1980. [...]
End of session.
The session was also partially in response to some questions that Ruburt had in mind. [...]
(The 46th envelope experiment was held during the session. [...] I did not think Jane had noticed it particularly, and she confirmed this after the session.
(Jane did not feel very well before the session, but when I mentioned calling the session off she insisted on holding it. She began speaking while sitting down and with her eyes closed. [...]
(Seth began talking about quasars and related background material in the last session. That material in turn resulted from a question I asked, or a comment I made, in the 246th session. [...]
I want to stress some points mentioned in our last session, to the effect in particular that you perceive only a small portion of any given action even when that action has some of its origins within your own physical field.
(If Jane cares to, she can excerpt Seth’s book from these sessions, typing up her own copy for personal use; but I think also that the book should be included in the body of the regular sessions, whenever it pops up—part of the regular record, as always.)
[...] The rest of the session is taken up with Seth’s analysis of some arm trouble Peggy Gallagher has been having; this material is on file. None of this session is included in regular records. [...]
I will meet with you then at our next session, our regular session.
(Personal session, not included in the record.)
The class sessions incidentally, served to keep the spontaneity available, for the spontaneity of our own sessions suffers when your own relationship is less than the both of you accept. [...] So that that flow does not dry up when it does not operate as fully as it ordinarily can in our own sessions, then it shoots up and appears in class sessions, as a precaution and simply because the fountainhead as such will not dry up, but seeks its natural release. For this reason to some extent you have distrusted the class sessions, feeling that the strong personal basis of the sessions with you and Ruburt was escaping you.
[...] You felt it was depriving you, not only of, say, a private session if Ruburt did not hold the following regular one; you also felt that the sexual activity you were not getting from Ruburt was being channeled instead psychically where you were getting no benefit. To use this energy in private sessions was all right because it was a joint performance, a private one, and you both directly benefited.
Ruburt sensed this feeling, and it was often in reaction against it that we did not have our next private session, and hence the buried connection: “If you do not love me I will not have a session for you.” [...]
[...] Jane’s trance had been deep throughout the session, her pace for the most part quite fast. I thought it one of the best sessions she has given. [...]
3. Now what, I wondered, as I typed this session from my notes, does Seth mean here, and in the paragraph above? [...] I try to avoid reading too much into such brief passages, but I felt that if Seth answered all of the questions I could ask based upon this session, a book would result. [...] See Note 2 for Session 883.)
[...] I gladly told her the session was just as good, just as inspiring, as her last one—the 883rd: Once again her delivery had been intent, often impassioned, given with many gestures. [...] At other times she may forget to mention it for a while, or the session material itself may remind her that she already knew what Seth was going to talk about.)
Seth came through with that session on February 13, 1974. Now let me close this note with an excerpt from a private session he gave on July 3, 1978:
[...] Remind me, for our next session, to wind in a discussion of those subjective entities as they learned how to translate themselves into physical individuals.
2. Now Seth began a rundown of the roles played by each of the families of consciousness as he’d listed them in the 732nd session. [...] Since Jane had already refreshed her memory of those psychic groupings before the session, and, presumably, would deliver Seth’s material on them in the proper order, I matched up their names with the successive blocks of data given in the session. [...]
[...] During that period we held the 737th session [on February 17], but since we weren’t consciously concerned with that particular place then, we neither talked about it nor asked Seth to comment; instead, on his own during the session, Seth discussed the house on Foster Avenue as representing a probability, and a pretty likely one, that we could choose to explore. [...]
(Because we’d been looking at houses today, Jane was excited: “How am I going to get my mind on the session?” Just before Seth came through, she reread his list of the families of consciousness that he’d given for the 732nd session. [...]
[...] See the opening notes for the last session.
