(The usual session time of 9 PM came and passed while Jane and I talked. Finally we used her pendulum to learn that her overly conscientious self did not want a session this evening. [...]

(In the 358th Session Seth stated; “There are difficulties for Ruburt’s associate of last year at the center,” meaning Nancy Methinitus. [...] Today by telephone Nancy verified Seth, in that her mother is seriously ill at Mayo Clinic; the mother has been ill for some time, but was not, for instance, the last time Jane talked to Nancy, sometime prior to the 358th Session. [...]

Unless you have any questions we will end the session. These last sessions should be read several times weekly however.

We will now end the session. These sessions should not be too long.

[...] Before tonight’s session Jane read over the questions I’ve written out, derived from my reading of the 367th session. [...]

Now: it is fruitless to go back to old sessions seeking to find out what is wrong, or what was wrong and self-defeating. It is an excellent idea to look at old sessions with a view toward picking up suggestions that I have given for constructive action, and following them.

(As I mentioned doing at the close of last Saturday night’s deleted session, today I paid our NY State and Federal income taxes a few days ahead of time, hoping the action would contribute to my sense of freedom, and perhaps Jane’s too. [...]

(Willy kept bugging me as I tried to make notes for this session—sitting as he does close to me on the couch, wanting to stare at me and be petted at the same time, while I try to accomplish something. [...]

(In Volume 1 of The Early Sessions this sensation, as I call it, is dealt with following Session 23, in Session 24, and following Session 25, among others. [...]

(Last Wednesday’s session, scheduled for June 16, was not held. This was Seth’s idea to compensate for the longer recent sessions and the extra typing involved.

This has been a most constructive session, and its flow has been unimpeded. I wish you both a fond good evening, and as always I enjoy our sessions. [...]

[...] I was reminded of this by the 154th session, dealing with the body’s generalized ability to receive stimuli.

We hope now that our regular two-session week will be normally resumed. One session may involve whatever Ruburt has in mind. [...]

The alternate sessions should be held then in that area (Jane, eyes open, pointed to our table by the windows) of the room, by the large table. A candle nearby that is protected from draft for the first such session.

[...] He has become nervous because of the import of this session, but this will quickly pass. He will be quite as acquainted with me as he wishes, before we are done, and there may be indications before our next session. [...]

(Before the session tonight Jane wondered whether Seth could put her in touch with Blanche in some way, perhaps through a table. [...]

(A carbon of the first part of the session is attached here, however, since the whole session applies to the question of Jane’s symptoms, etc.

[...] I read a few paragraphs from the first part of the session to her, since I thought them very important. [...] I was only floundering around trying to find ways of relieving the symptoms, even if this meant suspending ESP classes, or the sessions, or whatever, while we tackled the problems at hand.

(Jane said she didn’t know whether she could resume the session, but she did so at 10:37.)

[...] (Long pause.) The personality is action, and as I have shown myself to you in sessions, this has added to the action of the sessions.

(We sat for the session as usual at 9 PM.)

(Long pause, eyes closed.) Within certain obvious limits, you will receive the same basic material whether or not you attempt to limit or specify the subject matter of sessions or not.

[...] For this reason we have been holding recent sessions in a protected back room. This room is too small to hold three people comfortably however, so for the session we moved back out to the living room. Most of the sessions have been held there. [...]

(Mrs. Lorraine Shafer witnessed tonight’s session. She was introduced to the Seth material by John Bradley, who has witnessed several sessions and read much of the material himself. [...]

[...] It will be remembered that Philip is the entity name for John Bradley, who first mentioned the sessions to Lorraine. Lorraine told us later that she was not consciously aware of the existence of the sessions before John told her about them. [...]

(It will be remembered that these sessions began two years ago through our contacting a personality called Frank Watts, who was superseded by Seth in the fourth session. [...] Since the sessions we keep an eye out for the name in the local paper, especially in a section called “Twenty Years Ago This Week,” which is printed every Sunday.

[...] I close our sessions, Joseph, within a convenient hour, for your own benefits. Any time that you wish a longer session for any reason, simply request it; or a shorter session for that matter.

[...] He had changed jobs and left Elmira at the time we were interested in his house, in June 1964, however. Seth dealt with the purchase of this house in several sessions, saying it would be a good one for us psychically. See these sessions among others: 65, 67, 69, 71, 74, 76, 77, 79, 82. [...]

[...] We wondered if Richard Watts bore any connection to Frank, and I made a point of mentioning it just before session time tonight. This technique usually leads Seth to discuss the point in question during the session.

(The session was held in our back room. Jane spoke while sitting down and with her eyes closed for the most part during the first half of the session. [...]

In any case, there are simply certain circumstances that I have set up myself as a system of balances, so that the number of sessions will stay within reason, within your idea of reason. You are perfectly capable, and Ruburt is perfectly capable, ideally speaking, of holding five sessions a week without ill effects. [...]

(No envelope test was held during the session.

I have one other point to mention, apropos: our session regarding the two men (see the deleted session, for me, of April 18, 1979). [...] (See my closing notes for the last deleted session.) The “my” there, in that sentence, refers to the socially inoculated man. [...]

(For the moment I’d forgotten the notes I wrote concluding the last session, deleted for November 12, having to do with Seth suggesting we throw our hassles with Prentice and foreign publishers into Framework 2; I’d written that I didn’t know whether or not I was capable of doing that at this time. But the questions I’d posed in those notes furnished the background for tonight’s session, somewhat to my surprise.

(Earlier in the month I’d grown so disgusted with the whole business that I’d resolved not to bother asking Seth for help—then before tonight’s session I’d spontaneously had the idea that I would ask if I got the chance. I reread daily many of the private sessions he’s given for us in the last year or two—especially those in Book 20. [...]

(Once again Jane was quite relaxed, but she wanted to have the session anyhow. [...]

(The session was also witnessed by Diane Sorino, a friend of Rich’s. Jane and I sat for the session by 8:45, to see if one would be held, etc. Rich had not seen a session before, although he was somewhat cognizant of what would take place.

[...] If it makes Ruburt nervous to have his picture taken, it does not bother me, and I welcome you (Rich and Diane) to our session. I have a few remarks to make to our friend Ruburt in opening the session. [...]

(The session began ordinarily enough, but before long an interaction between Rich and Seth began to show. [...]

(Jane became so relaxed as session time approached that she told me several times that she’d have to put off the session until tomorrow night. [...] Jane also sensed more information pertaining to my questions of a few sessions ago, on the relationship of disease with human beings.

(John Bradley, from Williamsport, PA, was a witness to the session, which was quite short. Jane began to speak for Seth, in trance, after we had discussed the 364th session with J. Bradley, who is a medical salesman for Searle Drug.

(The 364th session was held September 13, 1967 for John Pitre of Franklin, LA, and his wife Peggy, who has multiple sclerosis. [...] We hadn’t asked that Seth specifically discuss the following material, but thought it a possibility in the light of the conversation preceding tonight’s session.

(Here Seth referred to a discussion before the session, concerning the time element and his predictions re John Bradley, Searle, etc., in various previous sessions.)

[...] We will try to get more on this at a later session.

(A note added later: Seth himself had some things to say about Atlantis in the 742nd session for Section 6; the session also contains excerpts from the Atlantis material he delivered a month or so after finishing Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality. [...]

(The morning after the above session had been held [on September 30, 1974], I asked Jane to write down what she’d told me at about 1:15 A.M. I remembered her description of it at the time, even though I’d been pretty bleary by then, but I wanted her own version for use here. [...]

“As I was getting ready for bed after our last Seth session, I suddenly wondered about Atlantis. [...]

(Two unscheduled sessions were held on May 28 and May 30. Jane also had a long unscheduled session last night. All three of these sessions were for ESP classes.

(Again, learned via TV after the session: The assassin evidently belonged to a pro-Arab, anti-Israel organization of an inflammatory nature. Jane knew of his Arab identity before the session.)

[...] We sat for the session as usual at 9 PM. [...]

(Note that here Seth implies that Senator Kennedy, who was alive at the time of this session, would die. [...]

She is always slightly dubious and doubtful before a session … since she is the one through whom I speak. [...] Usually in our sessions, one inner sense is in strong operation. [...] This is our twenty-fourth session, and I am still trying to give you the answers.

By now, the sessions were running from seventeen to twenty typed, double-spaced pages and they lasted anywhere from two and a half to three hours. [...] Rob really had a great time, though, for the twenty-fifth session he didn’t have to take notes while we tried out the recorder. [...] He congratulated us on our “twenty-fifth anniversary,” and said jokingly, You will be much older by the time I am through with you. Most of the session was a discussion of ordinary subjective states emphasizing the fact that these could not be pinpointed in a laboratory or understood simply by the use of the ordinary scientific method. Miss Cummingham and a Missed Session

Through all of these early sessions, Rob was not feeling well. [...] The session notes show his condition quite clearly, though. [...]

I can’t note the same for The Magical Approach to Reality: A Seth Book—the very promising work that Jane and I first discussed a year and a half ago [in August 1980], after Seth had started his group of excellent private sessions on that subject.⁸ I watched Jane try to write the book a number of times; last month, in Note 6 for Session 939 [in this chapter], I finally expressed the opinion that she wouldn’t finish the job. [...] As I wrote in Note 6 [for the 939th session], eventually I might try assembling such a work myself.

I will continue with whatever schedule of sessions that meets your desires, needs, and purposes. End of session.

[...] In notes at the end of this session I’ll briefly consider the latest expressions of large-scale consciousnesses concerning Three Mile Island¹ and the countries of the Middle East,² and then will unify those discussions by explaining how I think those great events of consciousness have counterpart relationships, just as “living” entities do.³ I’ll also refer to our country’s space-shuttle program.⁴ Next, I have to put into final form the complicated notes I began for a number of sessions for Dreams as Jane delivered them. In Note 1 for Session 939, in this Chapter 12, I quoted myself as telling Jane last December 1 that she hadn’t walked for “two weeks over a year now, I think it is. [...] In the opening notes for that session, I quoted her as writing on December 7: “I do feel a blockage of expression; my ass hurts typing—a sweet soreness of joints I sit on that brings tears briefly; yet it is a stretching sensation.” [...]

[...] She herself suggested the session, then, and of course I agreed. I also told her I hadn’t forgotten about the list of 6 points I’d made for the deleted session of April 13, 1981. [...] To my mind at the moment, that course of action would be the “something to be done” if we failed to get enough help from these late sessions.

(We were fairly sure her reactions stemmed from the barrage of material Seth has given us since we began this series of “crash” sessions last week, but that knowledge didn’t help her much today. Particularly apparent, I thought, would be effects from last night’s session, which I regard as excellent. [...]

(“Maybe you’d better have a session tonight,” I said. I didn’t really mean it, since we’d thought sessions were over for the week on Thursday. [...]

[...] Last night’s session was in my mind, of course. [...] A little suffering in life—okay, I thought, considering the session last night—but this? [...]

[...] I do not want this suggestion to go by the board, as it will if you simply file the session and ignore it. [...]

[...] You must implement the sessions and your knowledge with such personal experience. [...]

[...] I will, incidentally, comment in sessions concerning your experiences.

[...] I will give you additional data on those environments that you visit, so that your experiences are paralleled by session discussions throughout the years. [...]

(Jane was in a “bitchy” mood as session time approached. [...] She’d wanted to start the session at 8 o’clock, but it hadn’t worked out. [...] Her delivery was quite slow as the session opened.)

(10:31 P.M. Seth’s last remark, which I took to be rather humorous, reflected one of the reasons for Jane’s upset before the session: the conflict she feels between having just book sessions versus obtaining Seth material on at least a few of the other subjects we always have in mind. [...] Seth has given some answers in a couple of sessions, and we want more. [...]

Jane’s delivery had turned out to be excellent this evening, her manner steady and with fewer pauses than she’d used in Monday night’s session. Although she didn’t reach the peaks of soaring eloquence she’d touched upon in that last session, elements of that state were present tonight.)
