I am going to cover the question of your tremor and other difficulty in one session more or less devoted to those questions. [...] Under the circumstances this is enough for this session. We shall take up the matter again however at our next session also. I am keeping this session brief to minimize reactions.
[...] Progress is being made since our first session on this subject. (The 367th Session for October 1, 1967.)
(This session is deleted from the record.
This material coming out through the sessions frightened the whole personality, and there has been some uproar, which is quite understandable. [...]
(Then I read her the Seth part of yesterday’s session, but not my notes. [...] “I don’t know if I’ll have a session today or not,” she said, “but keep your paper and pen handy.” And then she immediately began the session. Her words were loaded with emotion, more evenly delivered than yesterday’s session had been, yet still the rhythm wasn’t one of ease and speed.
(When I asked her, Jane said today’s session and motions could be interpreted as being related to her dream for last night. [...] But if those events between Jane and Marie didn’t have to move on toward their inevitable end, as stated in the session today, then there was hope.
[...] She told me about a vivid dream she had last night, and I refer to an interpretation of the dream at the end of the session.
(I was surprised that she had a session at all, figuring she might want to relax more today.)
(The effects continued to flow out of last Monday night’s session. Jane was very intrigued by the material she produced “on her own” after the session, both in the sleep state that night and in the statements she wrote the next day. See Appendix 4. As we made ready for tonight’s session at 9:10, and discussed the information she’d received, she began to feel a continuation of the experience. [...] I made notes on most of what she had to say; it’s presented as Appendix 5, and I suggest that the reader review it before continuing with this session.
[...] Now she was bleary-eyed: “I feel as though I don’t want to think for two weeks …” Seth hadn’t said so during the session, but Jane told me she’d “picked up from him” that she should eat an extra meal a day for a while — usually late at night, as, say, after a session. [...] Jane’s comments before tonight’s session about possible instructions from Seth are given in Appendix 5.
(After finishing Personal Reality in July, 1973, Jane and I took quite a bit of time off from our usual Monday–Wednesday session routine while we prepared that book for publication. We developed the habit of watching certain television programs on Wednesday evening, but since we’ve gone back to holding sessions regularly, we haven’t been able to see them. I suggested to Jane that we shift Wednesday night’s session to Thursday night.
[...] It’s like there’s a tremendous amount of work being done behind the sessions, so I can get the data — but this isn’t like the channels from Seth [as described in the 616th session in Chapter 2 of Personal Reality].”
(That “earlier session” is the 687th, in Section 1, and in it Seth mentioned parallel man, probable man, and alternate man. But actually his material therein [and part of the heading for Section 2] grew out of the discourse Jane had come through with on her own the night before the 687th session was held. [...]
To me there are connections between such periodic activity and Seth’s information in the 684th session, in Section 1: “Your bodies blink off and on like lights … For that matter, so does the physical universe.” For additional references on the way atoms and molecules — consciousness itself, in other words — can phase in and out of our probable reality, see Note 3 for the 684th session.
5. See these two notes, in sections 1 and 2 respectively: at 11:26 for Session 686, and at the start of Session 694.
[...] I have mentioned the dream-art scientist and the [true] mental physicist (in sessions 700–1). [...]
(Lorraine Shafer was a witness for the session. She had witnessed the 193rd session also. The session was held in our front room, and was not interrupted. [...]
(The last sessions in which Seth dealt with Jane’s ESP book were the 178th and the 180th. In both of these sessions, as well as many others, he stated the book would be a success, financially and otherwise. [...] Seth first mentioned the sale of the ESP book by name in the 92nd session. [...]
(I planned no envelope test for this session. Not because of the poor results of the last test in the 194th session, but to vary the steady test diet. [...]
[...] By the Jesuit and the cat lover Seth meant of course Bill and Peggy Gallagher, who have witnessed quite a few sessions. [...] Our thought has been that if Lorraine kept coming to sessions, sooner or later Seth would speak to her.)
(This afternoon while I was out doing errands, Jane had a rather strong if not lengthy experience that seemed to encompass an emotional understanding of Seth’s material in the last session [for Monday]. She’s already reread that session three times, and so have I. This time she got the emotional content of it, though, and scribbled a few lines while it lasted, perhaps 10 minutes. [...]
(Both of us have been curious as to how the material in Monday night’s session fits in with that on the Sinful Self, which Jane still hasn’t typed except for the first five pages. [...] I’d planned to write down some questions for tonight, based on Monday’s session, but had so many actually that I decided to let that project go, trusting that Seth will cover them in his own way.
The last group of sessions should be read over. The idea of continuing with my book at your own pace is also excellent (as Jane suggested), so that it is kept current, even if we also have many sessions on other matters. [...]
[...] This will be a relatively brief session, and again other psychological events connect the session material with your private experience as you make certain translations that are necessary quite for yourselves. [...]
I will have our regular book session on Wednesday, and your next session when you prefer. [...]
(This material is from the 672nd session for June 25, 1973.)
There are things I have to say, saved for private sessions, having to do with his condition about the house. [...]
SESSION 672 (DELETED PORTION)
[...] While discussing probabilities in the 565th session for Chapter 16 of that book he said. [...] In a manner of speaking, your slightest thought gives birth to worlds.”8 I also found an opportunity to insert the same lines in Chapter 10 of Personal Reality; see the 641st session.
(11:43 P.M. An aside: Lately I’d delayed typing these sessions from my notes because I’ve been so busy doing the finished pen-and-ink drawings for Jane’s Dialogues. [...] Jane hasn’t had a book session to read since the 718th, for November 6, was held almost four weeks ago. [...]
(During the whole of last month [October] Jane also had to go without reading a block of sessions [708–15] in Section 4; I used the time I’d have spent typing them to complete the diagrams for Adventures. Tonight we decided, then, that from my notes I’d begin reading to her the four sessions following the 718th. [...]
5. In Volume 1, see Seth’s first delivery for the 681st session: “I told you once that there were pulses of activity in which you blinked off and on — this applying even to atomic and subatomic particles.” The full session should be reviewed, especially those parts dealing with the “great inner unpredictability of any molecule, atom, or wave….” [...]
I am going to end the session directly for this reason. We will hold our normal session Wednesday. If you feel cheated, my friends, then you may if you wish hold a brief session tomorrow. [...]
[...] There was a rather unusual rain and lightning storm of a mild nature, which kept up through the session. [...]
Our own physical climate is a poor one for a session, however. [...]
The particular circumstances involved are interesting however, and I will explain them more clearly at our next session. [...]
Now, our friend seldom attempts to block during a session as he did in the past. After a session in which he has been in a deep trance, a portion of him becomes leery, however. This is why we did not have our last session. [...]
(The session regularly scheduled for Monday, April 24, was not held. [...]
[...] Since Seth goes into something else shortly, I will note here that John Bradley and Bill Gallagher engaged in lively argument here the evening before this session, on the subject of war.)
[...] Resume session.)
(Loud rock music was playing in the apartments above and below us as we sat for the session in our living room. [...] Seth Two didn’t come through, but some very interesting effects developed later in the session. That portion is included under the 612th session in the records.)
(See the 612th session for the balance of the material obtained this evening. [...] I typed up that portion of the session earlier, and it’s already been read by Terry Jacobs, a physicist from IBM at San Jose, California. [...]
[...] And there will be other developments out of our sessions, and other books of my own also.
[...] Our session, the August 2 one, helped lead him to that understanding.
(The following material is from the 857th session.
(Jane has been following the material in recent private sessions about trusting her impulses and spontaneity, with good results.
The last session, its private portions for Ruburt, should be reread, with its emphasis upon creativity and trust in unconscious processes.
End of session, and a hearty good evening.
(I found other copies of the article after the session. [...] On the partial copy attached to page 104 I penned in the row of numbers representing the date after the session. The session was a comparatively short one and Seth did not go into each point in the data. [...]
(The 48th envelope experiment was held during the session. [...] We had saved the article because it dealt with our friend Bill Macdonnel, who has witnessed several sessions. [...]
[...] See the summary of the unscheduled 247th session, which was held at the home of our landlady, Marian Spaziani. In the session Seth dealt with the coming operation Marian faces for an ovarian tumor that is benign, and gave Marian ideas for suggestion. [...]
Ruburt’s illness at our unscheduled session was simply caused by a sudden inner panic, brought about because of his realization that the session was more complete than usual.
(Since she had no session from yesterday to read, Jane tried to read the session for February 1 — the one that led to her Day 1, 2, 3 program. [...] An excellent session. Then I read her the session for February 5 — equally good. [...] Jane seldom asks to read past sessions — behavior that is still protective, I think, and has been for many years. [...]
[...] I told Jane that if she’d had her regular session yesterday in 330, so that I was busy typing it last night, I wouldn’t have found Babs’s note, because I wouldn’t have had the extra time after supper to go through fan mail, clean out the paper bag I carry to the hospital each day, and so on. So, why did she not have a session yesterday, the day of my dental appointment? [...]
[...] Once again, when Jane had the session I became aware of traffic noise from Market Street.)
(To me:) You are in my attention also, of course, and these late sessions should also help you tone up your own body, and revive feelings of exuberance and understanding.
All of the rest of that session is important, even suggestions that do not seem emphasized. I mention this specifically since in the session itself I tell you that the concentration should be on work and activities, and not (underlined) on the condition you are trying to get rid of.
[...] Follow the session, trust it will help, and the other suggestions. Those not yet tried in the session will automatically take care of some of the initial reactions. [...]
Now—our session will begin.
(5:01 p.m. I could tell the session was a difficult one for Jane, especially when her voice wavered, and she almost halted her delivery several times. [...] “Yeah,” I said, “but how tough can a session be, compared to your daily situation laying in bed in the hospital? [...] This session might lead to something important.”
(So much time passed this afternoon that I thought Jane had passed up a session, but finally, after we’d talked some more, she said she wanted to have a short one. [...] She didn’t know whether she could have the session, or dredge up anything that might help.
(My personal opinion, which I haven’t even had the time to discuss with her, is that she ought to continue sessions in this vein, no matter how difficult they may be, simply to break the chains that keep her bedridden and hospitalized. [...] I asked her if she’d done enough of that herself after the session, and she said she was ready to change. [...]
(This session is a summary of proceedings, from notes made immediately after. As Seth mentioned in the last session, Jane decided this evening to try to contact a survival personality as a medium would ordinarily for interested observers or relatives.
[...] Jane asked Seth for signs of his presence; Seth had talked about giving such signs, soon, in the last session. The session began at about 9PM and lasted until the regular time of 10:30. [...]
[...] Jane and I wanted Seth’s assistance in contacting Blanche, without Seth himself speaking, for we thought this would make the session too much like the regular sessions. [...]
[...] One of my concerns when Jane asked me to speak to Seth at the beginning of the session, was whether my speaking would bring on a regular Seth session, but this didn’t develop; and the method gave us both confidence for like experiments in the future. [...]
(We’d waited for tonight’s session since 9:26. [...] Once again, as she had before the 684th session and on other occasions, she said that now “something was different” in the sessions: For this book she had to “get a certain clear focus …”)
[...] Biologically I wasn’t keyed into it in my ‘now’, I was in it and not in it, between focused realities … traveling in or through these fluctuations of consciousness Seth talked about in the last session. He mentioned probable kinds of consciousness in that session, too. [...]
[...] She also felt that we’d eaten supper [at 7:30] too close to session time.
(We wondered if Jane’s feeling was due to suggestion. During the week she had been referring to the 68th session as she did some work on the book on the Seth material; these sessions have to do with the construction of physical matter by each individual. This particular session was witnessed by Bill Macdonnel, and during it he made two pen and ink drawings of an apparition he claimed to see in a doorway of our apartment. The effect lasted for about an hour; during this session Bill and I together saw a distinct change in Jane’s features. [...]
(Before this evening’s session I was at work typing up the envelope data for last Monday’s session. I stopped at 8:30 PM to get ready for this session at 9 PM. [...]
(The pendulum told me Jane did not feel this way, and after the session she agreed. [...] Jane now said the irritation she felt quite strongly just before the session, was her sensing of my own irritation at myself. As stated on page 2, she was aware of the irritation before the session, but puzzled as to its source. [...]
[...] I hadn’t mentioned the pain to her, deciding on the spur of the moment to see if Seth could also pinpoint the trouble during the session. [...] When I took my seat at our table in the living room just before 9 PM Jane told me she had felt surprisingly nervous at my absence so close to the session; hence her calling to me. [...]
2. In Chapter 2 for Psychic Politics Jane presents not only her library material, but quotations from the 715th session for “Unknown” Reality itself. I wrote this note a month after Session 715 was held in October 1974. [...] We already knew that she would initiate some transposition of material from Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality into Politics, since she was so intimately and enthusiastically involved in producing both works at the same time: I first wrote about such an exchange in Note 3 for Session 714 (when indicating that she’d used portions of that session in Chapter 1 of Politics).
In the 4th session, for December 8, 1963, Seth announced his presence to Jane and me through the Ouija board. In the 6th session he told Jane, in connection with our questions: “Begin training.” In the 12th session, for January 2, 1964, he informed us that we were his “first lesson class,” then added: “At one time or another all of us on my plane give such lessons, but psychic bonds between teacher and pupils are necessary. [...]
5. So far in Volume 2, I’ve mentioned the inner senses (as described by Seth) in Note 5 for Session 709, and Note 6 for Appendix 18. [...] 6, Innate Knowledge of Basic Reality, in the 40th session for April 1, 1964: “This is an extremely rudimentary sense. [...]
6. A note added six months later: When Seth referred to “this book” in the 715th session, he meant a one-volume edition of “Unknown” Reality, of course. Jane and I didn’t decide to publish the work in two volumes until just before the 741st session (for Section 6) was held, in April 1975. [...]
