TES6 Session 244 March 23, 1966 Peggy locations photograph envelope switch

[...] See the notes again on pages 30, and 50, concerning Peggy’s failure to appear as scheduled to photograph Jane during the 242nd session. As stated the 242nd session was held on Wednesday March 16. [...] Seth had mentioned 3 PM during the 242nd session, and Peggy said it was possible. [...]

(The 43rd envelope experiment was held during the session. [...] The notes concern the efforts of Jane and myself to pin down Seth’s impressions given on page 32 of the last session.

[...] For some time now we have kept a weather record, taken just before session time, and there are probably correlations here. [...] Soon I will make a copy of the chart to include with these sessions.

(See sessions 42-45. But as early as the 15th session Seth was discussing these problems as related to dreams. [...]

5. In the last session see the material, with notes 1 and 7, on Einstein, as well as Note 5; in the 684th session the material on the multidimensional activities and fluctuations of Seth’s CU’s (or units of consciousness), electrons, and other such phenomena; and in the 681st session the material, with Note 7 especially, on science, probable atoms, and the basic unpredictability behind all systems of reality. In the same session Seth also comments on Jane’s vocabulary, as he does after break tonight.

[...] As noted in the last session, Jane had attempted to read Einstein’s book on his theories of relativity earlier that day. We had briefly discussed Einstein’s work and some allied subjects before tonight’s session, but I hadn’t asked her to give material on physics through Seth.5 In her own way, Jane is quite interested in the field, however, and has done a little work in it with scientists. [...]

[...] I last mentioned her recent dreams in Appendix 11, for Session 698. [...] In some of the deleted portions of these sessions, Seth has rather extensively discussed Jane’s dream work and related activity. [...]

1. Once again (as in Note 7 for the last session), I quote Seth from the 45th session: “Any investigation of the basic inner universe, which is the only real universe, must be done as much as possible from a point outside your own distortions … To get outside your own universe, you must travel inward … Your so-called scientific, so-called objective experiments can continue for an eternity, but they will only probe further and further with camouflage [physical] instruments into a camouflage universe … The subconscious, it is true, has elements of its own distortions, but these are easier to escape than the tons of distortive camouflage atmosphere that weigh your scientific experiments down.”

Now give us a moment.(Pause.) The sessions with the pendulum are of great advantage. [...] I suggest, however, for this evening that you hold your pendulum session now and then return here for my comments. [...]

We will end our session. If I have overlooked any major point, then I will bring it up in our next session, or earlier. [...]

(For some material on cellular comprehension, see the 29th session, among others. Mental genes are mentioned in the 26th session, among others, and mental enzymes are dealt with in the 13th, 16th, 19th, 20th sessions, among others. Dreams and related phenomenon have been discussed in many sessions. Emotions as connected with physical weather was rather extensively discussed in the 56th session.

This has been an excellent session. [...] I will now let you out of my charge, and not charge you for the privilege of our session. [...]

(See sessions 86 and 87 for material on mental enclosures, and Session 87 also for material on capsule comprehension.

(Jane had no idea of the material for the session before it began. [...]

DEaVF1 Chapter 6: Session 905, March 3, 1980 genes genetic chromosomes predilections program

This little session is almost book dictation. I’m also presenting it because it shows how an event on one day of our lives—a television program—influenced Jane’s delivery of one session of the Seth material. Other factors are involved, of course, as they always must be, and I refer to one of those at the end of the session.

[...] I told Jane I felt that regardless of John’s evocative visit Seth would have mentioned my eye phenomena tonight, given his subject matter for the session. And yet, I added, because of the very nature of the Seth material, I’m also bound to think that beneath that simplified explanation there are “deeper” connections—in which the television program, her reactions to it, John’s appearance, and tonight’s session are all related. [...]

SESSION 905, MARCH 3, 1980
9:27 P.M. MONDAY

[...] When I got out to the living room to wait for the session, I found her watching one of those fascinating, multiple-subject science programs on the educational channel: Various experts were discussing topics like childbirth and sound, Kirlian photography, astronomy, particle physics, and so forth. [...]

TES3 Session 124 January 23, 1965 aura features light achieved distinguish

(This session was unplanned. Bill Macdonnel, who has witnessed several sessions and has been involved in some of the effects obtained during sessions, was visiting us. [...]

(See the 68th session for the change in Jane’s features, witnessed by Bill and me. See the 102nd session for Bill’s cognition of open eyes upon Jane’s closed eyelids. It will be noted that the 102nd session was also unscheduled, and that it dealt with the subject of obtaining physical effects.)

[...] At times during regular sessions, I have introduced effects, but for various reasons you have either failed to observe them, or have not been able to.

(I had thought Seth would stay, to say something about why results had not been good, but Jane said the session was over. [...]

TES3 Session 113 December 7, 1964 December duration Christmas lighter gaunt

I will despite my own feeling end the session very shortly. There will be no Wednesday session, and that will be your rest period. [...]

[...] I will expect truly excellent sessions to follow. There may be the possibility, if you request it, of one session off during the Christmas holidays, but only at your request.

[...] She was as surprised as I was at the short session and the extra time off. We have been feeling fine; if we needed a rest from the sessions we were not aware of it. [...]

(When the alarm rang to end the session, my eyes opened as usual. [...] Yet before me I saw, like an afterimage, a symbol that Seth had described in the 84th session. [...]

WTH Part One: Chapter 6: April 22, 1984 protected association tears pregnant wouldn

(I read parts of the session for April 18 to Jane — wherein Seth had said she’d become extremely frightened. It’s an excellent session. [...] Emotions were expressed after all, today, and the session was a success.)

(No session was held today, April 21, 1984, but we did do some free associating, so I’ll present a summary of that material here, and follow it with a session and more free association whenever they come through.

[...] Jane got scared with Sumari in the beginning, just as she had at the start of the sessions in 1963, but she was also very curious and turned on. She was also frightened at the tests in sessions, of being wrong, and of the seance. [...]

(I talked about the first session for Jane’s symptoms — the private portion of Session 208, for November 15, 1965 — yet she said that for her the whole thing really started the day before we went to a party in June 1966 regarding How to Develop Your ESP Power. [...]

TES5 Session 223 January 16, 1966 teapot Brotzanin Lemons voyages Zanzibar

[...] Seth has dealt with our Denmark lives in a few early sessions without going into much detail, and has occasionally referred to them in later sessions. In the second session, while still speaking to us through the personality of Frank Watts, Seth told us he had been a merchant who dealt in spices. [...]

(Bill and Peggy Gallagher visited us this evening, and Seth held a rather short unscheduled session. The Gallaghers sat in on the first part of the session. [...]

(In the 221st session Seth suggested we postpone our series of object tests with the Gallaghers. At the same time he described the object the Gallaghers were focusing upon in their home outside of Elmira at session time. [...]

[...] Seth confirmed that at that time he had almost come through, and Jane later told me she had been aware of this, without feeling impelled to have a session.

SDPC Part Two: Chapter 8 breathes Rob dishes Who admit

In the next session, Seth told Rob that he was doing well and should try the exercise often. The session, the twenty-second, was one of our first spontaneous sessions. (At times, I knew I could have a session, for example, but mentally refused. Two sessions a week were more than sufficient, I thought — I was afraid of going into trance at the drop of a hat.)

Our regular session was due the next night and lasted, as usual, from 9:00 until after 11:30. I always want to give this particular session a title: “The Breather and the Dreamer,” because as a result of the session, I wrote a poem with that title — one of three poems inspired by Seth’s discussion that night. The session had quite a different effect on Rob, however, as you’ll see in the next chapter.

I just snorted when Rob told me about this data after the session. Still, the session impressed me. [...] After the session was over, it seemed to follow me out into the kitchen while I finished the dishes.

A Spontaneous Session and Some Answers
Excerpts from Sessions 22 and 23

UR1 Section 1: Session 682 February 13, 1974 units propensities unpredictability probable selection

However, nowhere in tonight’s 682nd session does Seth refer to EE units by name — and for a reason, as will be seen late in the next session. [...] “They are one form [my emphasis] that emotional energy takes,” he told us in the 504th session. And in the 581st session: “There are many ranges and great varieties of such EE units, all existing beyond your perceivable reach. [...]

6. For the second time in the session, Seth referred to the chance that the individual might feel insignificant within the enormous reaches of the inner universe. He also mentioned such a possibility in the 681st session at 10:00. (See Note 2 for that session as well.)

(Indeed, we were out of beer, which Jane usually drinks during the sessions, and she didn’t want any wine. “I feel him — Seth — around now,” she said, “but it’s like last time: I’m getting stuff, but I’m waiting until it’s clear … I don’t really feel looped, but the center of focus I always use in the sessions seems strange. [...]

UR2 Section 6: Session 740 February 26, 1975 infinities infinite Millers Corio finite

12. Seth’s ideas in this paragraph and the one just preceding it are consistent with his material in a number of sessions for Volume 1. In sessions 681 and 684, for instance, he discussed the on-off fluctuations of our physical universe and everything within it, moment points, probabilities, Jane’s sensations of massiveness, the basic unpredictable motion of any wave or atom, and much more. In sessions 682–83, he stressed the nature of his CU’s, or units of consciousness. Then in Volume 2, Seth likened his own identity to that of a wave formation; see the excerpts from the 775th session in Appendix 18, with Note 35.

5. In the 685th session for Volume 1, Seth stated that the consciousnesses of our cells are eternal, and that biologically we’re equipped to explore many more probable realities than we know. In the 686th session he discussed our cells’ comprehension of the past, present, and future, as well as our cellular responses to a variety of neurological pulses besides that certain range we’re egotistically focused upon. See his first delivery for that session.

7. In all of the sessions, Jane has mentioned the third (or “back”) eye of occult lore only once before — in Session 612 for September 6, 1972 — and she’d been somewhat embarrassed then, too. See the opening excerpts from the 612th session in Appendix 19, with Note 5. In that note I speculated about “what intuitive knowledge she might possess that led her to talk about” the third eye at that time. [...]

There are, of course, close relationships concerning this delivery of Seth’s for the 740th session, the material in this note, and the musical analogies Seth presented in the 735th session, when he discoursed upon the inaudible variations inherent in the compositions played by the young classical guitarist who’d visited us over the weekend of February 2. (I’ve been saving this reference for this particular note.) At 9:45, for instance, in that 735th session: “An infinite number of other ‘alternate’ compositions were also latent within the [first] note, however … They were quite as legitimate as the compositions that were played … and … added silent structure and pacing to the physically actualized music.”

TSM Chapter Five Stevenson refrigerator Phil gumboils Rob

[...] Seth devoted several long sessions to an analysis of Rob’s condition and explained the reasons for the symptoms. They disappeared without medication, and we think that the knowledge Rob gained through these sessions was responsible. [...] He used to sit in it to take session notes and for a while it was the only chair in which he was comfortable. [...] Much later, when I finally consented to sit down during sessions, it would be my favorite “Seth” chair.

[...] It had been impossible to keep the sessions absolutely secret. [...] As a result, Phil began to attend occasional sessions. [...]

[...] I agreed, but when I became tense it was difficult to relax enough to have a session. I skipped our next scheduled session as a result, but I’d recovered my equilibrium when the next Monday came.

During the first six months or so of the sessions, our cat, Willie, began behaving in a most unsociable manner. A few times he began to hiss and spit quite madly just before sessions. [...]

UR1 Section 1: Session 683 February 18, 1974 bulb multipersonhood personhood units herd

As I write this note, I’m struck by a curious connection I feel but find almost impossible to explain in words, let alone simply — that while Seth’s mention of “another book” in Session 657 may refer to “Unknown” Reality, it’s also echoed in the first question I asked Jane at break in tonight’s session. Yet how can this be, I wonder, since when the 683rd session was held I didn’t have Session 657 in mind; and when the 657th was delivered I had no ordinary way of knowing I’d have the question to ask in the 683rd. I’m unwilling to ascribe the “conventional” notions of precognition or retrocognition to such a tenuous relationship between the two sessions. [...]

[...] “The material doesn’t seem like a book, but when I started getting stuff in my sleep after the last two sessions, I did wonder …” I had to laugh: She hadn’t mentioned her own suspicions to me. At the same time I thought she might be putting up barriers to the idea of another Seth book so soon, since we still have editorial work to do for the last one, Personal Reality [see Note I for the 682nd session]. “Maybe these sessions are for your own writing,” Jane speculated. [...]

2. In connection with Seth’s discussion of animals and men here, see his excellent material in Chapter 12 of Personal Reality. Summarizing parts of that chapter very simply: In Session 647 Seth goes into the challenges early man faced as he contended with his own burgeoning consciousness. In Session 648 he discusses animal instinct, health, illness, and suicide, and the eras during which men and animals mixed. For the same session Jane contributed impressions of her own on animal medicine men.

(2. “Are these units of consciousness that Seth started talking about in the last session the same as the EE units he described in Seth Speaks, a development of that original idea, or what?” [See Note 3 for Session 682.]

TES6 Session 260 May 18, 1966 Goldsmith Nate Saratoga spade visit

[...] On both occasions Jane and I were on our way to York Beach, Maine, on vacation; both visits to York Beach played a part in these sessions, and exact dates can be found in appropriate sessions. See Session 9 in Volume 1.

[...] She said Seth felt affectionate at the end of the session. She held the session tonight not only because she didn’t want to miss it, but because under similar circumstances in the past the results have been good. She had confidence that if she really shouldn’t have a session Seth would either call it off entirely or make it very short.)

[...] I found it in a drawer of my desk about an hour before the session and decided to use it for the object on the spur of the moment. [...] I knew Jane hadn’t seen it for at least a couple of years, and after the session she confirmed that it had been longer than that.

(The 55th envelope experiment was held during the session. [...]

12. And added two weeks or so later: I see connections between the “centuries of inactivity” that Seth describes in this (708th) session, and certain unique psychic abilities of Jane’s — namely, those involving “massiveness” and “long sound.” In Volume 1, see not only Session 681 between 10:22 and 11:47 for data on one of her massive experiences, but that session’s accompanying Appendix 3. Then in this section of Volume 2, see both Note 9 and Appendix 19 for the 712th session, concerning material on Jane’s long-sound trances; during one of these it could theoretically take her a week — or a century — of our time to pronounce just one syllable of one word.

10. This material immediately reminded me that before the session tonight Jane and I had discussed Seth’s promise to answer the two questions I’d posed for him before sessions 698–99, in Volume 1. The question of interest here (I summarized them both in the notes following the 699th session) had to do with my inability to comprehend an “unconscious” species state. [...]

(I haven’t read “Unknown” Reality since I finished typing the last session for it over three months ago; Jane had reviewed all of Seth’s material on the book last week yet still had to remind herself today of the contents of that [707th] session. [...]

UR2 Section 5: Session 718 November 6, 1974 James view Jung tuned William

(We keep our typewritten transcripts of the sessions in a series of three-ring binders. I not only record the current session in the latest one, of course, but have in there a page or two of comments and questions so that from time to time I can ask Seth to clear them up. In closing the notebook tonight, I noticed the query I’d written following the 697th session for May 13, 1974, in Volume 1. In that session Seth told us: “Because you are now a conscious species, in your terms, there are racial idealizations that you can accept or deny.”

[...] Her fly experience of last Monday afternoon is mentioned in the opening notes for this session. [...] Seth finished his personal material at 12:10 A.M., and we thought the session was over. Jane was very tired, much more so than she usually is after a session. [...]

9. Nine months ago, in February 1974, Seth mentioned the few tentative contacts I’d evidently made with my deceased mother through dreams; see the 683rd session after 11:30, then see my account of one such dream in Note 5 for that session. Two months later, in the 693rd session, Seth described how I reacted (on a cellular, or “unconscious” level) to communications from my mother as Jane and I considered buying a certain house in my childhood neighborhood in Sayre, Pennsylvania. [...]

(Our last session, the 717th, is deleted from “Unknown” Reality. For it was and wasn’t a Seth session, and it was and wasn’t book dictation, as the following notes will show.

TES2 Session 84 September 2, 1964 boat rowboat sympathy constructions wharf

(Lately, since his return from Cape Cod, Bill has had a few twinges in his lung, a mild return of the trouble dealt with by Seth in some detail in the 56th session, May 25, 1964, page 110. In the 68th session, page 218, July 6, 1964, Seth stated that unless Bill took certain steps the lung trouble would return. [...]

[...] We had discussed with Bill the additional information Seth gave in the last session concerning the boat with a symbol on it, supposedly visible to Bill from this particular seaside room in Provincetown, but Bill is not able to recall the craft in question. Seth had also mentioned this boat in the 68th and 75th sessions.)

(This statement took me by surprise, until I remembered that in the 63rd session, June 17, 1964, page 159, Seth had given a date of Sept. [...] I refer of course to John Bradley, entity name Philip; and John had been a witness to the 63rd session.)

[...] She remembered the blocking; she was, she said, afraid she would make a mistake—especially in the beginning of the session. When I said the session was well under way by now, Jane pointed out that her definition of the beginning includes all material given up until and including first break.

TES4 Session 180 August 23, 1965 test border plateau confidence clairvoyant

(Tonight’s session was held in our back room. My writing table is beside a bookcase, and before the session I slipped the test envelope between a couple of books without Jane being present. Thus I could easily reach it during the session.

(As I had for the 179th session, I prepared a test envelope in case we had a chance to use it during the session. [...]

[...] We had discussed the matter earlier in the day but she had not given me an unequivocal yes or no answer, as to whether we should make such tests an everyday procedure during sessions. See Seth’s comments on this in the last session.

He has learned much however since our last session, and you can see that it was much better that we allowed the distortions to come through in our first test, since it allowed him to learn more about the simultaneous existence of our consciousnesses during a session.

(Jane had done little motion exercising because of my going over the session, though I’d told her to if she felt like it as I was reading. When I finished the sessions she told me to get out the paper and pen instead. [...]
