Now some night for a small demonstration I will have Ruburt come up from his present state through the various stages of consciousness so you can see them. [...]

[...] Last evening, Ruburt and Joseph watched a (television) movie — a fictional dramatization of the Watergate events. Ordinarily a session would have been held, but Ruburt was interested in the movie, and I was interested in Ruburt’s and Joseph’s reactions to it.

[...] Ruburt received it correctly the other (last) evening: “Men, Molecules, Power, and Free Will.”

[...] Actually, I allowed myself to become aware mainly of Ruburt’s perceptions as he viewed the motion picture. [...]

Now to some extant Ruburt’s ego wanted to stay where it was also: hence, comparatively speaking, the frozen motion.

[...] This ego that so behaved was then simply a group of particular qualities belonging to Ruburt, that were given control for a while to meet particular circumstances, and then stubbornly refused to return to the whole personality.

The knees, incidentally, I can help him here: in Saint Vincent’s punishment took the form of having the child kneel straight upward, and doing so Ruburt’s knees often became sore. [...]

[...] Ruburt was often a male, and he sometimes attempts to manhandle the feminine aspects of his present personality, to inflict upon it literally qualities that go against its grain. [...]

[...] When Ruburt utilizes other focuses and turns his consciousness in other than directly-physical areas, when he turns several angles away, then to some extent (underlined) he frees himself to some degree from beliefs, but certainly from their effects. [...]

[...] Ruburt believes in his inner agility. [...]

I want to repeat some of the most important points regarding Ruburt’s recovery, so that you will have them more easily at hand. [...]

[...] Above all, Ruburt is not to worry, but instead he must resolutely shove such thoughts away whenever he is aware of them. [...]

It is also a good idea for Ruburt to remind himself that he knows well that these concepts are true, and that they will lead inevitably toward his recovery—or rather, to his recovery—for they follow the innate laws of nature as it exists in its own state, apart from men’s ideas about it. First of all, a note of history: the material Ruburt got on you on his own was excellent, though unfinished. [...]

You sensed certain characteristics in Ruburt when first you met, and you knew intuitively that certain probabilities could bring the two of you together, both using your individual abilities in ways at that time unknown to you, but that those individual abilities, joined, could together produce a new kind of threshold—an overview through which that sensed excellence could at least be glimpsed, contained in essence at least, and communicated.

[...] The sessions, as they exist, exist as they do because of your actions and Ruburt’s.

Now: Ruburt’s rendition of my absentee session last evening was basically correct. [...]

I am pleased that Ruburt’s mood has somewhat improved. [...]

[...] There is on her part a block, that operates in much the same manner as Ruburt’s ego on occasion, as far as our sessions are concerned. [...]

First of all, I spoke in terms of helping you through Ruburt. [...]

[...] It is not that I could not reach you through Ruburt, and answer some of your questions. [...]

Ruburt’s walking will improve, but the rapidity of the improvement is dependent upon the suggestions given. [...]

An amazing amount of work has gone on, permitting Ruburt to begin feeding himself again. [...]

[...] Ruburt’s own improved thought patterns, as well as your own, have helped bring these activities into fruition, and they will of course continue. [...]

Ruburt’s brief dream experience, in which he crossed the street and began eating lustily a piece of steak, unconsciously activated all the portions of the body that would be necessary for such activity, though on a miniature scale. [...]

[...] As Ruburt suggested, the work is a kind of story. [...]

There is no doubt that Ruburt’s right leg manifested important new motions yesterday. [...]

There was some disorientation on Ruburt’s part because of the unaccustomed motion, but he handled that well. [...]

You do innately possess that freedom in your painting—as Ruburt innately possesses that same freedom of bodily motion. [...]

Ruburt’s books, of course, “came through” in the same fashion as do these sessions, for they follow the inclines of nature—that inner nature upon which the exterior world depends. [...]

[...] As to Ruburt: the relationships between his bodily parts are being corrected. [...]

[...] Ruburt is completely changing emotional and intellectual beliefs of long standing. [...]

[...] Ruburt got along well looking straight in front of him. [...]

[...] This is reflected in your household, but you did not have Ruburt’s backlog, so to speak. [...]

The upsetting alterations of consciousness occur mainly when Ruburt’s energies are being utilized elsewhere. [...]

Ruburt needs to talk over his fears with you, quite “normal” ones. [...]

You were of great benefit, you see, tonight, in actively mentioning the session—providing that stimuli, when Ruburt thought at least that his energies would not allow it. [...]

Now I will give you some information with which you can confound Ruburt at our break. [...]

[...] You are not to come here each week simply to listen to my deathless prose, for it is not deathless you know, and Ruburt wonders if it is prose. [...]

And each of you—  you (Joel) and you (Alison) and you (Florence) for I do discriminate, and Ruburt are so jealously concerned for these intellects, so jealous of the intellectual power that they would kill some poor little innocent flower just to see what made the thing grow. [...]

[...] Now, it is there, however, underneath the topsoil of your mind and yours (Alison) and this one (a student) and at times, Ruburt, and to some extent, this one (Sue). [...]

Now it is true that two individuals in particular who have left physical reality have been trying to help Ruburt, particularly in the dream state. [...] They carry on conversations with Ruburt and on an entirely different level than the normal conscious one.

[...] While the emphasis in our last sessions has been mainly on Ruburt’s condition, there is a definite overall general application, and this portion of the material will someday be used, though not verbatim, in a book having to do with my ideas on health.

[...] It will help if Ruburt remembers this fact, and does remind himself that he is indeed being aided, although the work is not being done for him.

[...] See yourself discussing this with Ruburt.

Ruburt, at the age of I believe seventeen, began a poem with the line, and if he will forgive me I will quote: “The end overshadows the beginning,” end of quote. [...]

Ruburt in the child’s perceptive poem could not let go this idea, and we must speak as he did then, in terms of beginning and end. [...]

[...] The universe and all planes and universes of existence, come indeed from what you may call energy, vitality, idea; or despite Ruburt’s stubborn blocking, from a personality essence or psychic gestalt which you may refer to as God if you prefer. [...]

I knew when Ruburt interviewed Augustus that the young man identified Augustus Two with the left side of himself. [...]

[...] Ruburt said recently that if he was sure of one thing about physical reality, it was [that is was] not anywhere near perfect in these terms. [...]

Tell Ruburt to remember that the conscious mind can state its request that Ruburt’s physical condition constantly improve itself, so that he can finally walk by himself, with some ease and confidence. [...]

[...] I told you that as a result of the sessions both your and Ruburt’s creative energies would be enhanced, so to some extent that acceleration was responsible for what you “saw.” [...]

It is an excellent idea to have Ruburt’s teeth fixed. [...]

(Pause.) Units of consciousness do help form different kinds of physical realities—as indeed Ruburt has himself hinted in some of his poetry. [...]

Ruburt is continuing his improvements. [...]

[...] To others it seems strange that I address her as ‘Ruburt,’ and ‘him,’ but the fact is that I have known her in other times and places, by other names. She has been both a man and a woman, and the entire identity who has lived these separate lives can be designated by the name of Ruburt.”

There was additional improvement in Ruburt’s eyes and vision, and those improvements specifically are connected with freer motions of the head and arm areas — the hands being included.

Ruburt has been feeling new, strong surges of desire — desire for normal health, normal motion, energy, and strength. [...]

Give us a moment … In Ruburt’s dream, he is completely re-educating the part of himself that he once considered an authority. [...]

Your dream represents Ruburt’s more healthy attitude toward his eyes and their vision. [...]
