“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

Right now our friend Sue Watkins, who lives better than an hour’s drive upstate, is well past the 15th chapter of Conversations With Seth, the book she’s writing about the ESP classes Jane held from September 1967 to February 1975. [...]

[...] My father had taken my brother and me into the woods one night, at first tracking one of the insects by its sound, until finally he’d been able to illuminate with his flashlight the katydid as it perched on a branch at just the right height for us.]

Just as though it had been waiting for the right moment last night, a screech owl began to sound its sorrowful descending cry in the black woods on the hill behind our house. [...]

[...] It’s just as foolish for those who are religious, even though they outnumber the scientists by far, to expect most scientists to embrace religion, to surrender their agnosticism or atheism, to give up their mechanistic, reductionist views of life—their attempts to use a series of “logical” steps to reduce the human being, say, to his or her ever-lower components, right down to the atomic level. [...]

Sometime after I came home from college in 1967, I first noticed that my right shoulder hurt when I lifted it up — classic bursitus symptoms, I’ve since learned. [...] Since then, the condition got worse until for the last month or so I haven’t been able to get my right hand in my jean pockets, or comb my hair, or anything without severe pain in my right shoulder blade and right hand to the fingers.

[...] She titled the note, humorously, “A Short History of the Shoulder, or Carrie Nation was Right About Bad Joints.”

[...] She wanted to strike out but didn’t feel that she should, and the denied actions then inhibited the function of the right arm that would ordinarily do the striking. [...]

[...] I started thinking about what Jane said about people being out-of-body without knowing it and wondered if Mom was out right then. With this, she sat right up and pointed at me. [...]

[...] Then I paused in uncertainty; something didn’t seem right. [...]

[...] For a moment I wondered if I was in the right place, then I saw that the old side porch had been completely removed and another front porch added. [...]

[...] Right then, Sue Mullin [later Carl’s wife] now appeared, out of thin air. [...]

This is actually not as bad an analogy as I first thought, in that oftentimes a particular personality will be like the right arm of the entity as a whole, while another particular personality will have both feet on the ground. [...]

[...] Taking off at right angles involves another one of your natural laws which are not natural laws, but seem to be because this is how things look from where you are. [...]

(I asked Jane if she felt all right, and she nodded her head in agreement.)

[...] The few times that the craft shoots off at right angles, it has managed to retain functions ordinary to it in its particular habitat.

[...] “But right now I’m just waiting,” she said impatiently at 9:40 PM, after we’d been sitting since 9:25 or so. [...]

[...] I could go right to bed, but I won’t....”

At your level it is perfectly all right if you want to call those people nincompoops or asses. [...] It is not all right to imagine that their kind speaks for the hostile world, or that they represent the views of many people. [...]

[...] He quite rightly thought—in, now, a certain framework—”How sick do I have to get?”

[...] He must not tell himself “The next time I will do it right,” but do it as a game, imaginatively.

[...] He understands your need and right to security from all this. [...]

[...] You will know when a demand is the right thing under the circumstances, however, and this is also important, for he will on occasion yield gladly. [...]

[...] “But right now I’m just waiting,” she said impatiently at 9:40, after we’d been ready for Seth to come through since 9:25. [...]

[...] I could go right to bed, but I won’t….”

“It is all right. [...]

He was hurt and angry, but instead of thinking “I will walk all right, and be impatient with you sometime.” [...]

[...] If he walked all-right-enough in the house, however, then the time would come for another dentist visit or whatever. [...]

You cannot will yourself to be happy while believing that you have no right to happiness, or that you are unworthy of it. [...]

[...] They are meant to elicit reactions from others and to arrive at new points of understanding, a balance of rights. [...]

(“All right.”)

[...] Jane lay quietly on my right, her back to me. As I rested face up in a very pleasant and peaceful state, waiting to enter the sleep state, I became aware of two extremely bright lights shining off to my right, beyond Jane’s form but within my peripheral vision. [...]

[...] Jane’s sense of time had been elongated while she spoke for Seth: “I feel like I was really far … like you were getting more than you could translate, like you were right on the edge of something….”

[...] You blame him and yell at him and then you wonder why he does not treat you right. [...]

Some sessions for example can be quite long, but the time is right.

[...] It is a teaching mechanism—helping him with it is good, for it shows him that you think it is all right for him to relax and let go. [...]

[...] It is quite all right. [...]

[...] Jane hesitated for a moment, saying that Seth was waiting for “just the right time” to contact Dr. Instream. [...]

(Jane’s dream book manuscript does not show in the sketch; at the moment I made the sketch the manuscript was invisible beyond her right side. [...]

[...] There is plenty of room however on the top and right sides.

[...] Then: “It’s as though I feel a lot of concepts around me right now, and I’m letting him get them organized for me … But now I think I’m about ready….”

(I felt all right, but Jane, still in trance, held up her empty cigarette pack. [...]

[...] I had it down all right; I hadn’t lost my way after all.

[...] “Once I get on the right track, Seth just keeps going, and I don’t want to change it or get off … I think it’s a great development. [...]

[...] She was supposed to get the diagrams just right though, and it had been difficult to do.

[...] Right now it is socially fashionable to take up some kind of exercise, gym work, or strenuous sport, so it seems obvious that the general populace must have a great regard for the physical body. [...]
